Pelicans guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker will be sidelined indefinitely with a hairline fracture in his right wrist, the team announced in a press release.
He underwent an MRI after feeling discomfort in the wrist at Thursday’s practice, according to the release. Further evaluation will be conducted to determine the next steps in treatment.
Alexander-Walker has put together a solid rookie season after being taken with the 17th pick in the 2019 draft. He has appeared in 41 games and is averaging 5.1 PPG in about 12 minutes per night. He was selected to participate in this year’s Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend.
He don’t play anyways. Scrub.
I thought he would be a quick success. I think it was a case where a player has to be superior to be effective, and NAW in the NBA did not possess enough to even get to his game.
He will have to re-learn a game to go to.
In retrospect he did have a dismissive style, and that is hard to pull off at a better level.
There just isn’t much minutes for him in NOLA.
He plays SG behind Jrue Holiday JJ Reddick and Josh Hart. Plus he’s a guard that likes to get a few touches and has to share those touches with Ingram Zion and Zo.
I think it’s just a case of bad fit for him.
I think he would be a great fit for a team like OKC that’s young and on the come up.
He would play with his cousin SGA and have the chance to grow as a future starter and core piece of that franchise. Both guys are 21, 6’5 from Canada, both play with that combo guard sorta style and both are nice defenders.
Thunder also have a bunch of picks and young ish players that could be used in a trade. Maybe they trade their first in 2021 top 20 protected and Hami Diallo. Pelicans bank a back up back up SG and get back a first like what they spent on NAW. OKC spend one of its many firsts on potentially a really good young guard who could develop into a huge asset
Actually had Herro and Walker reversed in the draft
Never been so happy to be so wrong and smile about it.
Walker needs fresh start on another team or a Hart trade
to get playing time.
Think NOLA suits Hart more because he doesn’t need as many touches and he was apart of that Ball and Ingram trade. He plays hard and has a little bit of personality.
NOLA also have rookies in Zion and Jaxson and have a bunch of future picks so maybe letting NAW go and getting back a future first isn’t a big loss
