Jusuf Nurkic, who was technically selected by Chicago with the No. 16 overall pick back in 2014, believed “100%” that he was going to the Bulls, as he explains on his Twitter feed. Nurkic had received a visit from a team scout had visited him prior to the draft and he claims he was told Chicago would also select Gary Harris. Both players’ draft rights were sent to Denver on draft night in exchange for Doug McDermott, who was taken with the No. 11 overall pick.
Here’s more from the Eastern Conference:
- New Bulls GM Arturas Karnisovas was an assistant in Denver’s front office when the two teams executed that draft-night trade. There’s no telling what kind of moves Karnisovas will make in his new role, though as Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports Chicago notes, a main reason why Denver eventually dealt Nurkic before he truly broke out was the presence of Nikola Jokic. Chicago has no such superstar in its frontcourt.
- Although Clint Capela hasn’t had a chance to suit up for the Hawks, the big man should be a good fit with the team’s current core, Mark Schanowski of NBC Sports Chicago contends. Atlanta acquired Capela in a 12-player deal at the trade deadline.
- The Sixers will be remembered for underachieving if the NBA season doesn’t resume, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer argues. Philadelphia didn’t live up to the hype after a splashy offseason that included a trade for Josh Richardson and the signing of Al Horford.
Firstly, big mistake by the Bulls trading Nurkic and Harris for McDermott who isn’t even with the many more.
Secondly, Mu Sixers definitely underachieved this year and I believe someone should be held accountable. At home they were very very strong, best record in the league and on the road they were terrible 23rd worse record.
Obviously there are many contributing factors as to why this may be but ultimately it’s not the players, cause they win at home so well, unless they go out and party before every away game they still turn up with the same effort and play just as hard at home or away.
It isn’t the GM because he’s put together a group of players that on paper are top 5 team and at home and better than everyone.
I think it comes down to the coaching staff. Their job is to develop players, get players ready for their matches and study the game to exploit teams weakness.
Like I’ve said 100 times I don’t think they are developing players good enough and I don’t think they are getting the best of their players. They obviously don’t get players ready well enough cause they suck on the road but when they play at home and the players are confident and comfortable they are ruthless.
you think the sixers were a top 5 team? horford was such a dumb signing it’s incredible it was signed off on. at the expense of jimmy? even worse. the sixers got better than what they deserved this year because they’ve been granted a reprieve from their early playoff exit.
On paper they are a top 5 team.
Simmons JRich Harris Horford Embiid
Korkmaz Robinson Burks OQuinn Scott Thybulle. Name 5 teams with better rosters on paper..
Secondly they could be a top 5 team if they were better on the road. At home they are the best team in the league and on the road they are 23rd.
Losing on the road like that solely means they have a real lack of leadership..
Wherever that blame lies, so be it, but that is the Sixers main detriment.
They could also use some better, more experienced shooters, as bench players, especially younger ones, typically tend to play better and shoot better at home..
