Magic head coach Steve Clifford knows his team is going to need some time to get back in shape in the event that the NBA resumes the season, writes Roy Parry of the Orlando Sentinel.
“This is going to be, whatever, six, seven weeks for these guys having not touched a basketball,” Clifford said. “Look, I played Division III [basketball]. I don’t think in my life I ever went six weeks without doing that,” Clifford said. “I think that you can guess, and then when you take that [layoff] and try to envision an NBA game, or an NBA playoff game, it’s going to take some time for sure.”
Here’s more from the Southeast Division:
- Iowa State’s Tyrese Haliburton would be a good fit with the Wizards. Chase Hughes of NBC Sports contends. The 6’5″ guard has a chance to go in the top five of the upcoming NBA Draft.
- Hughes (in a separate piece), examines Davis Bertans‘ first season with the Wizards. Bertans, who was traded to the team last summer, told Hughes that he felt like he fit in with the team “right away,” and suggested he’d be a good fit with John Wall if he were to re-sign with the club this offseason.
- Chris Kirschner of The Athletic takes a look at a handful of possible free agent targets for the Hawks this summer. Brandon Ingram would be a great addition for the club, though he is a restricted free agent and New Orleans is likely to match any offer.
Forget the Wizards I’m hoping the Knicks get Haliburton unless Washington wants to trade Beal to the Knicks for draft picks and players.
Isn’t it Tyrese Halliburton?
Yes it is great catch at mistake
I feel like Brandon Ingram for is a RFA should be able to leave the Pelicans.
I think for him he’s going to become secondary to Zion and Lonzo and obviously not get the touches and stats which will result in a drop of play. I think he would be great so many many other teams like the Hawks, Cavs, Spurs, Thunder and so on.
For the Pelicans I think if they are better off building around Zion and I don’t think Ingram is a great fit next to Zion. Zion uses his size to score and needs the ball and neither exactly spaces the floor for the other. I think if they were to sign and trade him it would be better for them long term and better for Ingram.
I’d say Ingram sign and trade to the Hawks for Reddish, Dedmon and a pair of seconds would be better for both teams. Hawks get their man and have a solid but young big 4 in Young Ingram Collins and Capela. Pelicans get Reddish who was a teammate of Zions at Duke and has a solid shot when he’s in form. Dedmon is also a good floor spacing big man. Plus they get some second rounders and don’t have Ingram on the books for about 30mil which gives them more flexibility to build around Zion and Zo
Ingram is trade bait, and will deliver the proper role player(s) to NO so that they can make a move to relevance. The question is what team has a surplus of role-players that NO needs and can use somebody like Ingram. I suspect that the talented GM in NO has an idea.
Ingram, an All-Star, for garbage Cam Reddish and Dedmond who is also trash? Are you on meth?
Why would the Hawks give up anything for someone they can just sign as a free agent. Give him an offer and make NO match it. If they don’t, you get him. If not, then they made NO commit to him.
Like Ingram but concerned that Collins, Young, Capela and Ingram might prove too be a salary cap problem in of a couple of years. Especially with uncharted waters coming with the virus aftermath and economic turmoil.
Could do, Capela is all signed up long term but aside from him you could have an issue but who knows. GSW managed to fit Curry Klay KD Green and Iggy all in the cap and bench dudes.
Well now is the time to pay Ingram then. The key is Trae Young’s attitude about sticking around like Lilliard. He will likely be quicker to leave.
