The Celtics are eager to find out how good they can be at full health, according to Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston. They rarely had all of their top seven players available at the same time, yet still had fifth-best record in the league when play was halted. Rookie Grant Williams told reporters last week that the team has great chemistry. “We were having so much fun during the year,” he said. Players can’t wait to back in the gym together because of the positive vibes running through the team, Forsberg adds.
We have more from the Eastern Conference:
- It’s uncertain whether teams currently outside the playoff picture will be included in a potential resumption of play. However, some Knicks players have recently been told to be ready to report to training camp in early June, according to SNY’s Ian Begley. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Sunday that all professional sports teams are now allowed to begin training camps in the state. Since players would be returning from varying sites and presumably going into quarantine once they arrive, some of them are wondering if they should go straight to Orlando, where the games are expected to be played.
- Pistons rookie guard Jordan Bone has changed agents, Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype tweets. Bone will now be represented by Colin Bryant of Fundamental Sports Management. The Pistons acquired the rights to Bone, a second-round pick, from the Sixers in a draft night trade. He played on a two-way contract this season, appearing in 10 NBA games.
- The Heat could re-sign players like Goran Dragic, Jae Crowder, Meyers Leonard and Derrick Jones Jr. this offseason and eventually turn them into trade chips, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel opines. If Miami retains those players on contracts beyond a single season, it would cut into its cap space for the 2021 offseason. However, the Heat could use them in sign-and-trades for bigger free agents down the road, similar to what they did with Josh Richardson in the Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade with Philadelphia.
If I were Riley, I’d offer starting salary at 26 million to Harrell or VanVleet
Clippers and Raptors are in tax land
Signing good free agents increases team trade value、you can later trade Harrell and Herro for an all star
Using trade exception increases team trade value, 76ers should trade Richardson to Warriors for TE, 76ers have 158 million salary for 14 players, they save 70 million luxury tax.
Warriors should dump Wiggins for a player 18 million salary
Not a chance Harrell or
VanVeelt is worth anywhere near $26M, period. Except maybe to the Knicks.
Wiggins and $18M TE sure sounds like an Arron Gordon deal. Will probably still take the 2020 1st. But Myer’s should get Bamba also in that deal.
Actually, Nunn and Olynik, plus Okpala, 2020 1st (#23) for Arron Gordon, 2020 2nd (#43) might work for both teams based on needs of both team right now.
Warriors 1 to 5 pick is for a rookie contact like John Colins.
Heat have to offer 4 year 90 million for Harrell or VanV. The goal to correct big luxury tax for Clippers and Raptors in the future
Miami signing players for their trade value is how they got jammed up in the first place, until 2021 offseason. So do it again, Winderman?
Richardson was supposed to be a keeper, a “core piece” as they say.
Ha but Riley listened to me and traded him for Butler! lol
No one will take Al horford and 3 first round picks. It is new era,
Source says they would trade Embiid
If Embiid goes, that revitalizes Horford, who should play the 5 and/or set the tone — that is what they hoped for getting him.
One of the stars should go; they do not get along on or off court.
Question is, what do they get for Embiid?– a backcourt of Simmons & Beal should make everyone happy. As would Horford & Rui! And Embiid & Wall & Troy Brown.
Embiid for Beal & Hachimura, basically. $ fits.
76ers are 19 million above luxury tax mark
Trade Embiid to dump some salary
Embiid to Hawks for Capela and this year first pick and 2022 First
How many years have Celtics rebuilt?
They are still not top 5 team
GM sucks
I haven’t disagreed with someone more than you after reading most your comments hahaha
Celtics are a top 5 team, literally their record is the first best in the league.
They have a solid team with Kemba Jaylen Marcus Gordon and Jayson.
I think they should look at trading Hayward, moving Tatum to SF and getting an elite defender and big man that isn’t to old.
Rudy Gobert comes to mind but he is getting old, Jarrett Allen would be a nice pick up for them, Myles Turner would be a solid player, Andre Drummond could be a name they go after in FA as could Derrick Favours.
With Hayward on a deal that has a player option for next season, I would try signing him and trading him. Something like 23 mil per year for 3 years then send him and Romeo Langford to Indy for Turner, McConnell and TJ Leaf.
Pacers get Hayward who is born and raised in Indy and I think is a definite upgrade on that roster over Turner. It also opens up minutes for Aaron Holiday as back up PG for them and gives them a nice young SG in Langford.
Celtics get back a big man in Turner who can rebound, block shots and hit some threes. They also get McConnell who is a nice back up PG when you need him and they can keep Lead if they want.
Celtics
1. Walker.
2. Brown.
3. Tatum.
4. Theis.
5. Turner.
Pacers
1. Brogdon. Holiday
2. Oladipo. Lamb. Langford
3. Warren. McDermott. Holiday
4. Hayward. Sampson
5. Sabonis. Bitadze
Fifth best record in the league**
Top 6 teams next season are
Clippers
Healthy Nets
Lakers
Healthy Warriors
Bucks
Rockets
Clueless!
Ok
Why Knicks, Randle ain’t worth 18 mill. We don’t need or want anyone of them. Anyone pays more than 20 mill.!they are nuts.
They should just go into playoffs. Forget other teams. Knicks only need prepare for draft n next yr.
Wiggins and Warriors pick for Randle and Knicks pick
Knicks take Ball
Warriors take Okongwu
As a Knicks fan, I’d say in a heartbeat. In the first round I want Okongwu and a PG like Mannion, Lewis, or Jones. AND we get Wiggins instead of Randle. Need JvG or Atkinson as HC.
No way ever this happens.
Firstly GSW actually like Wiggins and secondly he’s better than Randle so why would they trade the better pick and better player ?
Wouldn’t be surprised in GSW trades down or traded the pick for a player but it won’t be to get worse
Wiggins for Randle is to save money. Then they can use 17 million TE.
It is better to Trade #1 for John Collins
Resign Dragic on 2 years 25mil (15mil next season with 10mil team option).
He’s a big part of leading the second unit and being productive off the bench. He’s also a good friend of Jimmy Butler. This deal is good for him and good for the heat.
Resign Jae Crowder in a 1 year 12mil deal.
Then let DJJ, Meyers Leonard and Solomon Hill all walk in FA.
Sign Paul Millsap or Montrez Harrell to play PF, throw both of them the same offer 2 years 33mil.
16mil a season with a team option.
Then lastly throw some role playing vets cheap deals like Kyle OQuinn (1year 4mil), Harry Giles (1year 3mil), Shabazz Napier (1year 3mil) and Denzel Valentine (1 year 4mil).
1. Nunn. Dargic. Napier
2. Butler. Herro. Valentine
3. Robinson. Iggy. Okpala
4. Millsap/Harrell. Crowder. Giles
5. Adebayo. Olynyk. OQuinn
Milsap is only worth 8 million
Harrell is worth 80 million contract
Millsap was solid but probably doesn’t get a huge deal but if he wanted a big one he probably could get 15 ish mil.
Harrell i like but I really don’t see a market for him, especially a 80mil contract market.
I think he is perfect for the Heats culture and would be a decent fit in their line up, Millsap would be the better fit in the line up but at 35 is abit old a would only be a 1 year player which would be fine if that’s what the heat want
The pandemic should cure teams of any urge to sign players for their trade value.
It’s a brave new world where money actually matters in sports.
You mean sad new world! Anyway it will only be for a short period of time, right?
