Jazz big man Ed Davis will miss the team’s first-round series with a left knee MCL injury, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link).
Davis is expected to be re-evaluated in a few weeks, Wojnarowski adds. Utah is set to open the playoffs against Denver on Tuesday, with the team already missing Mike Conley due to the birth of his child. Conley is expected to miss at least two games of action and could sit more.
Davis, 31, has appeared in just 28 games with the Jazz this season, averaging 1.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 10.8 minutes per contest. Davis had success during the 2018/19 campaign with Brooklyn, holding per-game averages of 5.8 PPG and 8.6 RPG in 81 total contests. He originally signed with the Jazz in July of 2019.
As for the Nuggets, the team is set to play Game 1 without the likes of Gary Harris (right hip muscle strain), Will Barton (right knee soreness) and Vlatko Cancar (left foot fracture).
We used to sit next to each other in the locker room last year. Great guy.
I have lost my confidence on 6,7,8 seeds
Portland has a much better chance against the Lakers than Utah does against Denver. The Jazz won’t win more than one game.
Neither has any chance! LAL might struggle with POR guards, but no one in POR can match with LBJ or with AD, they will be unstoppable… & that is the difference. I know someone actually will think there is Nurkic, but if you remember 2 years ago, AD made him look silly for the whole rout & humiliation that was the playoff series.
LAL will win 4-1 or even 4-0
LA has been terrible since the restart, there’s no reason to think they will magically begin to play great starting Tuesday. AD has only participated in 13 postseason games, that was the only playoff series he has ever won during the first 7 years of his career.
I’m rooting for the Lakers, but I highly doubt they will dominate the series. I’d be shocked if the Blazers don’t at least for a game 6. No way will the Lakers sweep, not a chance.
I’m actually liking the Blazers this go around.
Lakers are good of course and a favorite. But they have one major flaw that could see them exit early. If you don’t have this you really have a gaping hole in your game plan.
OUTSIDE SHOOTING.
POR has 2 massive gaping holes, forwards & bigs!
Who will stop LBJ in his tracks?
Who will stop AD?
Because Collins & Nurkic won’t that is for sure, their only hope must rest in Whiteside, but they ain’t playin’ him, & still I really doubt he can stop AD.
LAL won’t stop Dame neither, but still is 2 superstars v 1.
Should be easy for LAL.
We shall see. I can’t wait for playoffs to start !!
