Pelicans All-Star forward Brandon Ingram, recently crowned the Most Improved Player for the 2019/20 season, made significant strides this season after his trade from the Lakers, per William Guillory of The Athletic.
Ingram specifically credits the time he logged watching game tape, both of himself with the Lakers and of the Pelicans’ offense, with his performative improvement. “When I wasn’t on the court, I just had to visualize things,” Ingram said during a media Zoom conversation Monday. “I had to watch film … It helped me out.”
There’s more out of the Southwest Division:
- Following an exciting 2019/20 campaign that ended in a 4-2 loss to the Clippers, Callie Caplan of The Dallas Morning News takes a look at the Mavericks‘ roster. Caplan assesses player performance this season and projects how players will fare next year, looking at everyone from All-Star Luka Doncic to crucial veteran role player Trey Burke.
- After testing positive for the novel coronavirus COVID-19, Pelicans (and Saints) owner Gayle Benson has been cleared to return to team activities by doctors, per Jeff Duncan of The Athletic (Twitter link).
- The Spurs apparently tried to shop big man LaMarcus Aldridge at this season’s trade deadline, though potential trade partners balked at San Antonio’s requested return haul, as we previously reported.
Next season The scariest thing is that Mavs will battle for 8th seed and Pelicans new coach are likely to underachieve
And the playoff team from the West most likely to miss the 2021 postseason will be OKC. Chris Paul will be one of the players most affected by the short offseason. He turns 36 next year and there’s simply no way his hamstrings will hold up for 70 games two years straight. If they’re smart they will limit him to 50-60 games tops, and no more than 30 MPG.
What are you talking about? A short postseason? Not for CP3… If the season doesn’t start until Xmas or January… it seems to me that he will have plenty of time to recover, but… don’t let the truth get in the way of your hatred & bias against CP3!
The Mavs will finish top 5 next year and will pick a 3rd star then following year in FA.
Watching tape helps? Weird. So influential BI.
Mavs getting Trey Burke was a really good pick up. He fits them well with his shooting and scoring.
Another good fit could be Glen Robinson, he shot well this year at GSW, is a decent defender and all round player. Reggie Jackson could be another point guard option that can shoot. Maybe Jakob Poetl as a cheap young centre.
Burke has had chances before, but the Mavs are the best, even if he doesn’t start. I was never a backer of his, right or wrong, in his previous stops, Sixers and Knicks, despite the talent, in the sense of being a solution. Thing is, there’s no danger of the Mavs Not being Doncic’s team, so no need to worry about being taken off course by Burke. Only the opponent needs to worry about it!— because he will do it his way, a successful Plan B until Doncic returns.
Maybe it’s a Columbus thing? Caris Levert, Antonio Daniels, Calvin Booth, Michael Redd, Jared Sullinger, from Columbus Ohio. You want them to take charge, but then not really. Interesting
Lol Gary Trent Sr., Gary Trent Jr, Samaki Walker…
Trent jr may get a leadership chance in about five years. He is proving out but Lilliard is due to make $54mil in 2025 at 35, CJ Mccollum $38mil in 2024 at 33. Guess who the Blazer guards will be!
Levert would be interesting as the named PG and that may happen traded. He kind of does that already when he gets wound up and comfortable lol.
Celtics should of picked up Aldridge. He fits them well. Mavs better hope KP is back. Otherwise Luka is gonna have to do too much. Burke was a good pickup. Sixers never gave him a shot. He might have found a home. His D needs to get better.
KP is always hurt that’s part of the reason the Knicks were willing to trade him
Zion and KP need to be discounted
KP was dealt because he didn’t want to play in NY and injuryprone. If only Yankees can trade injury prone Stanton and Judge that would be a miracle
