Buddy Hield might be unhappy but with his four-year extension kicking in, he has no leverage if the Kings want to keep him, Jason Jones of The Athletic points out. Hield has a $24.5MM cap hit next season, so any potential trade partner would have to believe he’d be a major impact player to take on his contract.
Sacramento’s front office would probably be best off holding onto Hield and seeing how the situation plays out, Jones continues. Corey Brewer and Yogi Ferrell, who couldn’t crack the rotation, are the most likely Kings players to depart this offseason, Jones adds.
We have more on the Kings:
- Hield’s flaws and off-the-court antics make it difficult to trade him, Sean Deveney of Forbes.com opines. Deveney suggests that Hield tends to get overly emotional off the court and doesn’t handle adversity well in the locker room. He also doesn’t perform well when defenses focus on him and he’s also a subpar defender, Deveney notes.
- Florida State wing Devin Vassell should be a strong consideration if he’s available with the No. 12 overall pick, according to James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area. Vassell has the versatility to play either wing spot and he adds length, athleticism and energy to his 3-and-D skill set. Vassell is currently ranked No. 16 among best available prospects by ESPN.
- The Kings officially added Alvin Gentry to their coaching staff on Wednesday. Get the details here.
If 76ers fall in love with Hield,Kings should trade Hield to 76ers
Week 1 negotiation
For any player except Horford
Week 2 negotiation
Horford goes to 3rd team trade
76ers May find a young player kings like
Cmon NBC said Vassell is a 2/3 and can cover 1s, not “either forward”.
I think a Horford for Hield deal could work if the Sixers just added a couple of their 5 draft picks in this year’s draft. Hield has one more year, but he is also younger and has more room to grow than Horford, so I think adding a couple of picks from Philly would probably work better. Sacramento could also add Jabari Parker to the deal if he picks up his player option.
It could be either
Hield for Horford and 2 2nds
or
Hield & Parker for Horford + a 1st and a 2nd
Can’t imagine Sacramento deals Hield for Horford and two 2nds….more likely two 1sts at least
And Richardson
You have a very good imagination, because there is no way Hield is worth 2 firsts in the real world.
But Horford.
Actually by next year he might have a decent contract.
Nah.
According to report Kings don’t want Horford contract
My assumption is that 76ers fall in love with Hield
“Hield tends to get overly emotional off the court and doesn’t handle adversity well in the locker room. He also doesn’t perform well when defenses focus on him and he’s also a subpar defender”. C’mon – where can you get all that for only $24.5M a year?
Crazy you think that of a player. Yet are willing to give him over 100 mill guaranteed. This is the part of NBA I just don’t get. Truth is Bogdanovic is a better fit with Fox. And cheaper. Buddy can’t stay in Sacramento. Best they stop dogging him. And talk him up. Play him and showcase him so they can trade him. You don’t need to give him away. He’s still a young player. He can still get it. Not easy to find 20 point scorers.
Hield is an “impact” player but not the way that is conducive to team success.
