Free agent forward Bruno Caboclo says he has a contract offer on the table from the Rockets that he intends to sign, as Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston relays (video link). According to Caboclo, it’s a two-year, minimum-salary deal with a team option on the second season.
Caboclo, 25, was acquired by the Rockets in a trade-deadline deal in February. He didn’t play a whole lot for Houston down the stretch, appearing in just eight regular season games and two postseason contests, but a report earlier this week said the team was interested in bringing him back.
The 20th overall pick in 2014, Caboclo has changed teams several times since being drafted, averaging 4.3 PPG and 2.6 RPG over a total of 99 games (12.7 MPG) for Toronto, Sacramento, Memphis, and Houston.
He projects to be the 14th man on Houston’s roster.
The final piece to the championship puzzle.
Championship for worst record? Yes, yes he is.
Yet the Rockets will still win way more games than Chicago did this year and also go a lot farther in the playoffs than the Cubbies did.
Well considering the Bulls are in a rebuild and don’t have disgruntled 40+ million dollar players. I’d hope they’d win more than the Bulls. And nobody who has watched the Cubs the last 6 seasons calls them “Cubbies” anymore. How many rings has Houston won since 2016? Oh that’s right. They only won in the 90’s because MJ retired for a season and a half.
Dont bother with him. You can tell what kind of fan he is if he has to talk about regular season wins. Rockets are like Ringo Starr, the forgotten Beatles Member. Everyone remembers Lakers, Celtics, Bulls and Spurs/Warriors when talking historically about teams’ dominance. Nobody remembers Houston. Most asterisk titles ever * Won because MJ was going to get suspended for gambling. Good luck on that 45 win season and bounced out by a real team that plays all 90 feet of the floor and not just relies on 3’s/FT’s and layups.
Raz427, you’re dead wrong. People who know basketball remember The Dream and Clutch City, especially people like Shaq. Jordan needed a break. No break = possibly no second 3peat.
“They only in the 9o’s because Jordan retired for a year and a half” – That’s like saying Jordan only won because Kareem was retired.
Did I say anything about the Bulls? I said the Cubs.
You actually did reference the Bulls but not by name. However, any one who thinks the Rockets owe Jordan for their championships doesn’t know basketball. Otherwise, Jordan can thank Kareem for retiring. Plus, no break from the game means Jordan would wear out quicker and there may not be a second 3peat. “Thank God they can’t find their way out of the west. We got no answer for the big monster” – Jordan on Hakeem and the Rockets.
Except Kareem retired at age 40, while Jordan retired at the peak of his powers at 30. And I do value Rockets teams of the past. Hakeem is overall the best center I have ever seen. I respect and place him over the rest due to him being the only option for his team and everyone knew it. And I do remember Jordan saying that, I remember that entire decade. He’s right, Hakeem would have been good for 2-3 wins himself but Kenny Smith always said it best, “we couldn’t beat Seattle, Seattle couldn’t beat Phoenix, and Phoenix couldn’t beat us. They all got in each other’s way in those years. I have the Bulls missing playoffs again, East got better we signed Temple and drafted MKG 2.0. Aiming for Cade Cunningham next year!
My point is that if Kareem had a couple of more years left in him, the skyhook would’ve torn the Bulls up. However, that’s moot because it’s ludicrous to say Jordan is lucky Kareem was retired, just like it’s ludicrous to say Rockets should thank Jordan. Jordan is the GOAT, but basketball was played before, during, and after his year and a half break.
He probably called them “Cubbies” because you sure the heck sound like a child. Everyone who likes to give HWMVP a hard time probably hasn’t met you. You’re definitely one of the most annoying people here.
Anyways – on topic- I have been very pleased with the moves the Rockets have made this season. We’ll see what happens with Russ and James, but either way it should be an exciting year to see what Silas can do with this group.
Damn he’s only 25?!
6 years ago he was 2 years away from being 2 years away so maybe he will as really 2 years away from being 2 years away from being 2 years away and he’s finally ready?
Exactly, he has made a ton out of money out of having unrealized potential.
No, no, he’s two years in to being two years away from being two years away after a two year break to be two years from his two year development to become two years away from being two years away. Give him a couple more years and he could be an all star.
When he was drafted some touted him as the “Brazilian KD”
I like caboclo he is a young athletic big man who has the ability to shoot behind the arc decent rebounder and is tall and lengthy it takes him only two steps to drive in from behind the arc he’s super underrated
