Bucks guard Sterling Brown has reached a $750K settlement agreement with the City of Milwaukee stemming from his lawsuit accusing police officers of racially profiling him and employing excessive force for a January 2018 parking violation, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.
It was over a year ago that Brown turned down a $400K settlement offer from the city. That offer also didn’t include an admission of liability, which was a sticking point for the Bucks guard. As Charania details, the new agreement will see the city admit to a constitutional violation and commit to incorporating changes in the Police Department’s standard operating procedures.
Here’s more from around the Central:
- The Pacers are hiring Kaleb Canales as an assistant coach, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link). The newest member of Nate Bjorkgren‘s staff has served an assistant for the Trail Blazers, Mavericks, and – most recently – the Knicks, and was briefly Portland’s interim head coach in 2012.
- Appearing on The Lowe Post podcast, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony passes along some Bulls-related chatter, telling colleague Zach Lowe that he’s heard the team is higher on Lauri Markkanen than Wendell Carter at this point (hat tip to RealGM). Givony suggests that if Chicago wants to move up from No. 4 to No. 1 in the draft, the team may have to part with Carter to do so. “It seems like a pretty hefty price to me, but that is what it’s going to cost it looks like,” Givony said.
- Keith Langlois of Pistons.com takes a look at how new Pistons general manager Troy Weaver plans to balance the team’s long-term priorities with his aversion to bottoming out and writing off full seasons.
I like Glen Big Baby Davis and Carter Jr.
Bulls declared that they want to move up to 1 or 2.
Trade Idea
Warriors get Carter Jr and 4
Bulls get 2.
Trash ass trade for the Bulls. Must be a warriors fan to come up with that. Lol
There is zero chance that the Bulls are trading a starter to move up two slots in this very mediocre draft.
Bulls trade Carter, Porter and #4
To
Warriors for Wiggins and #2
That’s worse than Sillivan’s deal. Porter has less years and dollars on his contract than Wiggins, and is likely the better player.
Are you nuts? You’re saying Porter is better than Wiggins? You should quickly delete your account.
Carter Jr. is a stud in the making, he just needs a coach that can use him correctly..The same goes for Markkanen..
Take your pick at #4, keep your talent on the roster, see what you have moving forward with this core, and THEN ADJUST accordingly…It is way too soon to make any judgments based off their performances under Boylen, who didnt know how to use versatile bigs whatsoever!!
Boylen wouldnt let Carter Jr. shoot 3s, and he relegated Markkanen to solely a 3-point shooter…It was a disaster, watching LaVine dribble forever, no ball movement, and no offensive scheme..
Donovan upgrades this team tremendously, now let’s see what he can do with a couple additions and a healthy Bulls roster..
Very disappointing that Sterling Brown got enriched from his stunt AND got a quasi-apology AND got onto a NBA diversity board. Maturity is not just a white game. I suppose he will park his fancy car however he wants from now on, being untouchable. Not only does Brown not see a problem with that, he will make sure any reminder gets ramped up.
Covid madness… white police are not the enemy, but the enemy cannot be seen without a microscope and some people can only process the tangible.
The Bucks are going nowhere.
The fact is that he was treated differently than if he was a white guy, even if he was a white ass. No need for excessive force, and he did not get enriched. The money is beside the point, and not really much for an NBA player.
Nobody is talking about “white”. They are talking about “unnecessarily violent”. We need to guard against becoming a police state.
And he is giving the settlement to charity.
0%sure, Sterling Brown didn’t pull a stunt. He got roughed up by a half dozen police over a PARKING VIOLATION. I got pulled over for rolling thru a stop sign. My son immediately put both hands on the dash and froze. I asked him WTF are you doing? As a white man, I did not understand.
I don’t understand your Covid reference, but I agree it could be madness (on your part).
City of Milwaukee got off cheap. Glad he pushed for procedural reform, hope it is monitored.
