DECEMBER 1: The Lakers’ signing of Dudley is now official, per Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times (Twitter link).
NOVEMBER 30: Veteran forward Jared Dudley will sign a one-year, veteran’s minimum contract with the defending champion Lakers, Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe of ESPN tweet.
Dudley’s interest in rejoining the Lakers was reported earlier this month. The veteran’s minimum this season is $2,564,753.
Dudley, 35, has bounced around the league but won a ring this summer in Orlando. He appeared in 45 regular-season games with the Lakers, averaging 1.5 PPG and 1.2 RPG in 8.1 MPG. He also saw action in nine postseason games but did not score.
He’s also played for the Suns, Hornets, Clippers, Bucks, Wizards and Nets during a journeyman career that has spanned 892 games.
He’s well-respected in the locker room and adds another veteran option for coach Frank Vogel.
Idk why this guy has a job. Waste of a spot.
Could’ve easily converted kostas contract.. or signed pau who has forgotten more about basketball than dudley will ever know
Pau is even older than Marc, who’s getting really old himself.
It’s called taking care of your own.. pau needs to retire as a laker.. fun fact, pau and Marc have more rings Collectively than rockets franchise.
“Taking care of you own” man Pau hasn’t been a Laker for 6 years and hasn’t shown any indication of wanting to play. Dudley was a leader for the most recent Laker champion that they clearly wanted back.
Human victory cigar
I would think Ilyasova or Korver would be more helpful. I guess when you’re as loaded as the Lakers are they can afford to carry someone because of his leadership abilities.
Amazing that Korver and Ersan don’t have jobs yet. They still can help a team
He was a big part of last years team. He is a leader who garners respect from the Lakers big 2. He knows and accepts his role. Many here have no idea how to build a true team
This is a no-brainer, who wouldn’t want Elmer Fudd on your team.
Can you imagine the jokes and camaraderie on that locker room.
If haslem still has a job, why not dudley?
You ain’t wrong
Fair point
Im guessing they waited and attempted a Batum and GRIII signing to no avail and this was the fallback-
Still think they need a traditional PG and C…they can be found later –
Kuzma 50/50 to be used to get one at the deadline or they just wait and get a smaller scale buyout guy a week later
He is very important to ensure order and respect in the locker room. If there will be any problems inside the team he will be the first person who will try te resolve the problem. In this way lebron or any key player on the team will tay out of trouble

He’s a man’s man and that’s one you can write in your little black book. I don’t care on basketball, hell win you some games…just you watch
Markieff Morris takes 1.6m contract?
Dudley takes 2.6m
Are you kidding me?
Here is a link from Hoops rumors explaining how the minimum works and why Dudley gets more link to hoopsrumors.com
Pay him to sit on the bench wearing a suit instead of paying him 10x as much wearing a uniform…on the bench…taking up cap room and a roster spot.
