The Lakers are interested in signing shooting guard Wesley Matthews to replace Danny Green, Marc Stein of the New York Times tweets.
Matthews holds a $2.69MM player option on his contract but he’s expected to decline it so that he can become an unrestricted free agent.
Green is headed to the Thunder in an agreed-upon deal that will send Dennis Schroder to Los Angeles. Matthews, 34, started 67 regular-season games for the Bucks last season and averaged 7.4 PPG, 2.5 RPG and 1.4 APG. Matthews also averaged 7.2 PPG in 10 postseason starts for Milwaukee.
The Bucks have reportedly made retaining Matthews a priority. Other playoff-caliber teams, such as the Heat, could also get in the mix.
Matthews’ value is mainly as a floor spacer. He’s a 38.1% career 3-point shooter, though his success rate dropped to 36.4% last season.

LOL Mathews will take the highest bidder offer. So are you saying the Lakers will spend more than anyone else?
If he wants a ring, he has a better chance to win it with the Lakers, in his stage of his career it’s a no brainer, he already made is money !!!!!
not if he could get a ring, but you right, im sure he’s going where the money is.
There is no clear top team in the NBA right now. There are about 7 teams that have a legit shot at a championship. Lakers are no where closer to a championship than those 7 teams.
Lakers hater, that’s ok arc98 :)
Its called realistic not hater. Lakers is losing some bench players. Other teams are picking up new players. Lakers are not as solid as you wish they were.
It seems that the good players don’t want vet min 2m contract
On 2m contract, player pay check is 1m
So the Bucks will be losing guys instead of adding guys to keep Giannis around?
If he was the Wes Matthews from Portland than okay…but he is not that Wes anymore.
That Wes has left the building.
Wes was a quality player for the Bucks last year. Not Wes of old but good role player. I think the Bucks would love to have him back at near the minimum but we will see.
I’d rather have grant who’s younger but if cheap enough I guess it couldn’t hurt. With rondo gone is safe to say kcp is also gone?
Well, I mean you guys are paying 20 million for Grant AND You could get Mathews. And Ibaka. And Cousins. And Giannis next year.
So you offer any actual insight or are you just an angry troll? You were the same guy saying lakers wouldn’t get Davis and guess what?! You still got time tatum is only 23!
Mathews is really good at running around and looking like he is good. He also usually has good headbands.
Other than that, the definition of meh.
^^ i agree. Him and Ariza get too much credit as a “3 and D” player. They’re serviceable but I don’t think Matthews has much left in his legs. Lakers are better off signing maybe Austin Rivers than Matthews.
Ariza is inconsistent with his 3-pointers, but his defense is really good.
I don’t know if they are bringing him in to replace Green. I can see KCP coming back and taking the starting SG position while Schroeder starts at PG. Matthews and Caruso backing them up.
Makes sense.. his dad played for the showtime lakers
If Lakers want to keep KCP and Bradley, Lakers have no chance to use one year 6 million or more
If Bradley leaves, good luck.. Kcp staying.. he’s a klutch guy
Would rather have bradley than kcp for 12+ million for multiple years. I’m still hoping to pull off Jerami grant
Bradley will probably opt for not playing next year due to covid..
