The NBA is targeting December 11-19 for a potential 2020/21 preseason, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link). Teams would have the option of requesting three or four games, with each franchise being required to host at least one contest.
The proposed timetable would finish three days before the start of the regular season on December 22. The idea of having a shortened preseason — or no preseason — had caused concern for some players and agents in terms of preventing injuries, with several teams not playing since March.
On the flip side, teams such as the Lakers and Heat are set to receive an offseason that spans less than two months. Teams that play in the NBA Finals traditionally receive a three-month offseason, with those eliminated in previous rounds getting more time off.
Other key dates for the 2020/21 season include November 18 (draft), November 20 (free agency begins), November 22 (players can sign contracts) and December 1 (training camps officially begin).
If you want to make it fair, everyone should have the same, time off. But life is not fair…if you ask me
Life is not fair? Who knew. The 8 teams that failed to go to Orlando will obviously have a lot more time off than those who participated in the re-start. But considering that will amount to a 9-month layoff for their players it’s not really a benefit for them. The teams that went deep in the playoffs have the opposite problem with a much shorter offseason for their guys. So the best situation will be for the teams that went to Orlando but didn’t reach the playoffs or got knocked out early.
Already building in an excuse for LeBron when he loses to Steph again. Can see this one coming a mile away.
I highly doubt it. Steph will not be 100% for a long time if ever. He is looking very soft in workouts. Clay too…1000 thread count… those are the facts hon
lmaoooo
Kevin Durant isn’t a warrior anymore…
They won a chip without him.
6 years ago. With prime Curry and Klay not coming off massive injuries. Warrior fans are so cute thinking their 2015 title without KD translates to 2021. LeBron won’t be making any excuses. He said he is ready to go.
Warriors should have had easily had 5 rings in a row and then their entire team got handicapped and injured for a year. What makes you think these very obvious things are going to derail this juggernaut? Must be nice to be so delusional.
“Should” “if only” “could have” these are all excuses…not Rings. Who is the delusional one? I’ll wait…
Imagine calling someone delusional and saying “my team should have 5 rings in a row” in the same paragraph. That doesn’t happen in sports. Warriors getting 3/5 is their window. No one is scared of the Warriors anymore lmao. They were terrible before Curry even hurt himself last season.
I remember people questioning Barkley when he said the Warriors weren’t making the playoffs early on even before Curry got hurt. They could replace the Thunder as one of the top 8 teams in the West, but like OKC will probably get knocked out in the first round.
Well when you jump on a bandwagon it is easy to have unrealistic expectations. You only lives the highs, not the lows. I would be willing to bet that’s what’s going on here
It will be interesting to see how many of their bandwagon fans are still buying tickets for the new arena in a couple of years when the Warriors are back at the bottom of the Pacific Division like they used to be most of the time before their 5-year dynasty began.
Are there any dates set for when player or team options have to be decided? Or trade exceptions, like the Warriors $17 million, expire? Seems like these dates need to be known before contracts start being signed.
TPE expires 7 days after free agency begins.
aka November 27
aka November 27
Thanks. I wonder about options also. Seems like teams would want to know about POs before the draft, and players would want to know about team options before free agency. I guess that will all come out this week.
So, what has been the decision about fans in the arenas? No restrictions, half capacity, nobody in attendance?
I’m sure it will vary depending on which arena, and from state to state.
In no particular order I see LAL, LAC, DEN, DAL, MIL, and GSW as the top 6 in the West this season.
Utah, Portland, Sac, Orlando, Charlotte, Washington, and Atlanta (and maybe Detroit & Milwaukee) will be looking for a new coach.
Somebody missed too many geography classes
Excuse me but the second paragraph was a second paragraph – wasn’t included in the first paragraph because it was too different comments. Maybe for you “judgement for hire” guys I shoulda put two or three spaces between the paragraphs, instead of simply making ANOTHER paragraph.
You guys (or ladies) are too used to ONE huge paragraph of comments.
*TWO lol (before I get judged on that typo, as well!)
As I always say… you junior year jv guys are a tough bunch!
Must be confusing Milwaukee with Houston.
Although the Warriors could easily end up the 7th or 8th seed.
