Georgia guard Anthony Edwards wants the Timberwolves to draft him with top pick, he told Marc Spears of The Undefeated (Twitter link). He’s unconcerned about dealing with Minnesota’s winters. “I’m not going to play basketball in the snow. So, I’m not worried about it,” he said. Edwards has long been considered a possible No. 1 selection, though a recent report indicated he could slip a bit due to an unspectacular Pro Day and questions regarding his background.
We have more from the Northwest Division:
- The Timberwolves, who own the top pick, attended Isaac Okoro‘s workout last week, according to Alder Almo of Empire Sports Media. The freshman Auburn wing is currently ranked No. 7 by ESPN but he could be a Minnesota target if the team trades down. Okoro’s strengths include his defense and rebounding.
- There’s speculation that the Thunder might have some interest in trading for the No. 1 pick in order to land LaMelo Ball. That would require Oklahoma City to give up quite a few assets, Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman notes. Mussatto believes a package for the top pick might include Chris Paul, Hamidou Diallo, the pick OKC owns at No. 25, a 2021 first-round pick and a 2024 first-rounder. The Timberwolves would throw in James Johnson to make the salaries work. However, the Suns appear to be even bigger players for Paul.
- The Thunder have announced reduced seating capacity for home games due to the coronavirus pandemic, Mussatto tweets. The amount of fans allowed into the building is still to be determined but measures include the wearing of masks and a seating distance of six feet between groups of guests. There will also be strict hygiene and disinfecting procedures throughout the building.
It has to be Sign and Trade Beasley and Juan plus Johnson for Paul.
Wolves team salary $96M
DLo + Towns + Paul = 100 million salary
Rest of players get minimum salary.
The wolves do not need Paul. The only way they do this trade is if it nets them a bunch of picks that they can use for Simmons or Booker. Would personally rather have Simmons.
If the Thunder do find someone to take Chris Paul off their hands, the other team involved will insist that OKC gives them a couple of first round picks.
How it must hurt that the league is in a bidding war for CP3 & no one wants Westbrook!!! Hahaha!
That would’ll be a bad deal for OKC! Lamelo is overrated just like his brothers. His shooting is mediocre and the only reason he played in Australia instead of College or G-League is because he didn’t want get exposed. I will not include any first round pick for that clown. Whether we like it or not, CP3 still has a lot of value. He is the definition of a floor general, led his team to playoff against all odds and was a good mentor for a lot of youngsters. Weestbrick will never achieve that ! All he does is chasing stats, driving like truck with no vision or game plan and shooting bricks. He is probably the worst contract in league with Griffin and Tobias.
If that is the cost, it would be beyond a bad deal for OKC. Chris Paul + a decent prospect in Diallo + 3 first round picks. Even if they are lower first rounders, that is insanity.
How is any deal ridding them of Chris Paul insanity?
It’s amazing how everyone saw how bad his contract was before going to OKC, but now that he managed to stay healthy for one season there now he’s somehow great again like he was with the Clippers back when he was still in his prime. He’s still the same player he was 2-3 years ago with even less left in the tank, which will become obvious to everyone next season.
You fail to recognize even one year ago which is worse than what you said which is not the case anyway. He directed himself to normal leadership and success with limited expectations, and succeeded. Maybe next year with OKC with a rebuild coach, he gets bored, but that is not inadequacy.
Do you have any awareness of how boring your repetitive-ness is hwmvps.
“Strict hygiene and disinfecting procedures?” That phrase could mean so many things. I am reminded of Tim Robbins’ delousing scene from The Shawshank Redemption. It probably won’t go THAT far, but it is still a strange phrase to use when it is probably just going to be a few podiums with hand sanitizer bottles.
I’d take Edwards number one. It’s a crowded mix but he had a great year at college and looks to have all the tools and “it” factor on the court. Admittedly I don’t know his “background” they are referring too but if his dad is all over the news like he was with Lonzo with the Lakers that’s not exactly a plus in my book.
The Timberwolves have announced reduced seating capacity for home games due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Fortunately due to the team’s abysmal performance since the team’ inception, The amount of fans allowed into the building will be restricted to loyal, long term fans. Fortunately this level of support permits adequate seating arrangements to co-exist with COVID-19 social distancing protocols. That will mean that all 4 fans will be able to be positioned with one fan at each side of the court and one fan at each end of the court. Each of the four fans will still include the wearing of masks, face shields, gloves, gowns and the ability to “HOLD” their bodily functions for the ENTIRE time they are within the arena. Further COVID-19 restrictions on the court, disallow ANY and ALL dribbling and sweating by team members to mediate the spread of COVID-19. There will also be strict hygiene and disinfecting procedures throughout the building. (Every one named “GENE or JEAN will get a “HI”).
