The Lakers and Clippers have interviewed power forward prospect Yoeli Childs, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN tweets. The 6-8 BYU big man averaged 22.2 PPG and 9.0 RPG and made 48.9% of his 3-point attempts. Childs is ranked No. 91 on the latest ESPN big board but he could move into second-round consideration. The Clippers have the No. 57 pick while the Lakers would have to trade into the second round.
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- Heat forward Jae Crowder is the most realistic free agent wing option for the Clippers, who could use another 3-and-D player, Jovan Buha of The Athletic opines. If the Clippers strike out on Crowder, there’s a dropoff among wings they could pursue with their mid-level exception. That second-tier group includes the likes of Wesley Matthews, Derrick Jones and Kent Bazemore, among others.
- Suns co-owner Richard “Dick” Heckmann died Saturday in Rancho Mirage, Calif., Jeremy Cluff of the Arizona Republic reports. “Dick’s philanthropic spirit coupled with his sharp business acumen was what separated him from the pack,” Suns managing partner Robert Sarver said in a statement. Heckmann, 76, was suffering from a variety of ailments.
- A majority of mock drafts have center James Wiseman going to the Warriors with the No. 2 pick, the team’s website notes. Guard Anthony Edwards and forward Deni Avdija are the other strong possibilities, with only two of 24 mock drafts believing guard LaMelo Ball will be Golden State’s selection.
Heat and lakers finals next season I think
How do you average 22 and 9 with a .489 3-pt % and still only get ranked 91st in a sport where only 60 players get drafted? If you ask me Childs is definitely a guy worth taking a risk on over several other guys who will surely be drafted in the middle-to-end of the 2nd round. A guy his size who can shoot the 3 that well (even if it’s a small-ish sample and he has other holes in his game) is still a worthwhile risk in the second round!
I agree. Doesn’t make sense. I honestly think he could be taken in the later 1st rd
Because he hit 35 percent of threes over his career. He only played 19 games last year, sure he hit 48 percent, but over a larger sample size he is average, not elite.
Plus his FT% was under 60…
Because college leagues are not the NBA and you shouldnt take those numbers seriously.
Being a four year player. Teams always sleep on those kinds of guys.
Can he play defense?
I think the heat should keep crowder because of his defence.
I will be so happy if the Warriors take Wiseman.
They will trade Wiggins and #2 for #8 and Mitchell Robinson. Draft Haliburton and be set up well
Knicks are not trading Robinson more like #8 and Randle for Wiggins and #2. I still think Knicks need a SG and move RJ to SF.
They will keep the pick and use it on Avdija, sign Dwight Howard and Aaron Baynes and run it back.
Imagine being happy about wanting a team you don’t like to draft a player who will ruthlessly beat your fave team in the playoffs next year.
You def have something off with you. Don’t know exactly what but your pre-occupation with GSW proves we live rent-free in your head even after finishing last – pathetic showing on your end.
I always thought to myself what if the warriors picked mitchell Robinson late in the first round. Now they have an opportunity to pick a robinson/AD hybrid type player(in wiseman). If chriss can look like a starting NBA center just imagine how Wiseman would look. Please warriors don’t mess this up. I understand the whole “well look at the suns picking Ayton over doncic”. The Israeli league is barely(or not even) top 10 overseas and the kid(avdija) only had a decent season in the euroleague.
Just wait on who they draft. I have seen so many players going to GSW its over blown who they will pick. The 1 person they will not pick is Ball unless he is traded for lots of value.
Avdija is a teenager, stop acting like he’s a finished product, he’s way way better than everyone in the draft.
Warriors arent keeping Wiseman if they pick him, they will if they get Deni.
WOW! the same things were said about bender.
Nothing is guaranteed in this draft. If you were making bets Avdija and Wiseman would be the 2 most likely picked by GSW.
Crowder would sure look amazing on GSW.
If they get Crowder, Howard, Baynes, Avdija, GR3, Burks = run it back.
I don’t think Crowder leaves Miami.
Crowder has been in the NBA forever. NO ONE ever talks about him. A couple months in Miami (after he was totally average in Memphis) and everyone is acting like Crowder is awesome. He is a career 34 percent three point shooter, which is below average. He can’t create his own shot. He shoots 42 percent from the floor, which is bad. Even though he is stacked over his career he averages 4 boards a game. He is the definition of “meh”
