EJ Montgomery and Justin Patton, who both signed with the Bucks earlier this month, have been waived, the team announced (via Twitter). Neither player saw any action in Milwaukee’s two preseason games.
Montgomery, 21, went undrafted last month out of Kentucky. He averaged 4.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in two seasons with the Wildcats.
Patton, 23, was the 16th pick in the 2017 draft, but injuries have limited him to nine total NBA games with three teams. He was also waived by the Clippers last month, shortly after being acquired from the Pistons.
The Bucks now have 18 players on their roster and have until Monday to make at least one more cut.
What does this mean for my odds of making the opening day roster?
Treveon I hope you get signed by the bucks
well two more players left on camp deals. its coming down to either you or staukaus making da roster. hope u make it man, da bucks need ur solid defense and versatility.
Justin Patton should get picked up somewhere because he has a very high potential and is a great defender who averaged 4.5 blocks per game 10 rebounds per game and 10 points per game and averaged 4 assists per game . So he should get signed. # come back to OKC
I liked him coming out of college…then I was excited when the sixers got him as filler in a trade. But, he could never get healthy to even get on the court. I would still like to see him succeed but time and opportunities are running out.
injury issues are hammering his chances at making an nba team so idk

What an incredible talent !! With all that he has accomplished in the course of his pro career; what NBA team was fortunate and knowledgeable enough to end up with Patton at pick #16 out of the 2017 Draft?
Timberpuppies !!
And so it has gone on & on & on & on since 1989 !!
Your negativity is annoying. Find a new team to be negative about.
Exactly fishy 9 dogs!
Of course MIN has messed many picks, just like every team, but they have had many good picks as well.
JR Rider, KG, Starbury, Rubio & above all KAT, surely I am missing many more as well.
I always have found them very likeable as a team & franchise & in ’04 they deserved to make the finals, I really thought they would, so they have had good times as well, ya know!
Minnesota has done far more than just mess up a few draft picks. The only reason why Steph Curry is in Golden State is because of Minnesota. Golden State picked Curry at #7. Minnesota had the #5 and #6 picks. They chose Johnny Flynn and Ricky Rubio, who are both point guards, instead of Curry. Shabazz Muhammad was a horrific pick. He was the so-called #1 player in high school, but it was clear as soon as he stepped on the floor at UCLA that he wasn’t that good. They traded for the guy, when they could have just drafted Giannis. They even screwed up this year’s draft. Anthony Edwards is a bigger version of Dennis Smith. He will be a bust. James Wiseman was clearly best player in the draft. Minnesota is building a franchise around Karl Anthony Towns, a center, who doesn’t play defense. Nobody does that anymore. And DeAngelo Russell, a good player, who elevates nobody around him. They should have drafted Wiseman and then traded KAT and DeAngelo (who are buddies) to Houston for Harden. You still have Malik Beasley (a shooter) and versatile defensive wings in Jarrett Culver and Josh Okogie. If Harden leaves after two years ….. so what ….. Making the playoffs for two years with Harden and getting $50 million in cap space is better than riding out 5 years of contract with KAT and DeAngelo and losing all five years with no playoffs.
Marbury was drafted 4th by the Bucks and traded to Minnesota…..
I’ve been following that franchise since the beginning the worst has to be trading for Shabazz Muhammad from Utah jazz the 14th pick in the 2013 nba draft with next pick being Giannis Antetokounmpo to Milwaukee
In fairness, most people thought more highly of Shabazz Muhammad than Giannis at the time. Muhammad was the #1 ranked recruit coming out of HS that struggled a bit in college and Giannis was a kid from a country not known for producing great basketball players. Most teams would have made the same decision as Minnesota on that one.
Besides, their worst draft decision will ALWAYS be taking 2 point guards back to back directly ahead of Steph Curry. Of course it would have been an equally bad decision if it wasn’t Steph Curry picked next.
ay muhammad could have time to improve but unfortunately da wolves never have success at developing promising young talents
I just don’t understand what Montgomery was thinking. People need to tell these guys that if the best you can do in college is 5 points and 5 boards, then leaving after your sophomore year is NOT a good idea. Oh well, enjoy your time in Estonia, Morocco, and/or India.
I mean, making 400k a year and kicking it in Morocco might beat playing for free in Kentucky. It isn’t like he is going to get any better at 21 years old.
You seriously believe that a player will not improve after the age of 20? If so I have no argument that will sway you, we have nothing more to say to each other. Have a nice day.
I didn’t say “A player” can’t improve after the age of 20. I am talking about Montgomery. All sorts of college players turn pro so they can make a good living playing basketball overseas. Montgomery did that.
You have a nice day too man. You seem uptight. Nice talking hoops with you.
Na just a bad day. Sorry that I came off poorly there. Good talking with you too.
No problem man.
lol he could earn twice as much if he played oversees man especially if he got an opportunity in china for example.
Exactly, playing in the NBA is just one way for these guys to cash out.
Believe it or not but that was MIL’s front court depth. That leaves Giannis, Brick Lopez, Portis and Wilson at the 4/5 position. Oops, Diakite as well.
criag is an excellent front court addition they badly need his perimeter defense and athleticism.
