The Pistons have cut three players from their 20-man training camp roster, according to James Edwards III of The Athletic, who tweets that the club has requested waivers on forward Louis King, forward Anthony Lamb, and wing LiAngelo Ball. King and Lamb briefly appeared in Detroit’s preseason game vs. New York on Sunday.
Lamb and Ball were training camp invitees who were never considered likely to make the 15-man regular season roster, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that they’ve been waived. It’s possible they’ll end up playing for the Grand Rapids Drive, though it doesn’t look for now like Detroit’s G League affiliate will participate in the proposed NBAGL bubble.
As for King, the 21-year-old had signed a second two-way contract with the Pistons after spending his rookie season in 2019/20 on a two-way deal with the team. His release means that one of Detroit’s two-way slots is open — second-rounder Saben Lee occupies the other.
The Pistons now have 17 players under contract, including Lee and 16 players on guaranteed salaries. At least one of those 16 will need to be traded or cut before the regular season gets underway.
Well the 3 ball brothers being in the nba at the same time last real long
Ahahahahahah gelo won’t make league.
HAHAHA Neither will you. Or me for that matter. Why so mad bro.
For some the glass will always be half empty lol .
Liangelo needed to spend time in college ball to have any prayer of a nba career. Him getting in trouble at UCLA was dumb to begin with but his dad pulling him out sealed his fate. His brothers have talent to play at that level. He doesn’t.
His dad messed up his career. He should have stayed and school, got his degree and developed. His dad was so obsessed with all his kids playing in the NBA, that he didn’t let the one who was a “fringe” player have any chance of developing. He was blinded by his own vision and was not looking out for his son.His dad is a disgrace.
The Knicks or the nets should sign him for WestChester Knicks or Long Island Nets
No. Take that back.
Only Ball I want to see on Knicks is Lonzo. Without his dad please.
Unfortunately, the kid just didnt get the correct teaching and coaching he needed to make it to the NBA. He needs to go back overseas and truly learn and develop if he wants to play in the NBA..
NEVER LOST!
Well that was quick
Lol AMAZING how guys on here who are probably unemployed or lost their 9-5 job are trying to clown a man who plays basketball for a living, comes from a wealthy family, and can easily play pro overseas. How weak is that?
Lol is coming from a wealthy family better than losing your job? Only the weakest believe such a thing
It’s weak you assume ppl are jobless because they have an opinion. They’re clowning him because they have the right to be.
Lol naw stop trying to excuse losing. Lol Ball is doing fine and he will continue. That is my only point. You can have any opinion you want. Doesn’t mean it is not born of a weak mentality.
I didn’t assume. I said probably! That is simple context understanding there bro!
So you are saying regular people who work hard in a 9 to 5 or are struggling having been laid off during COVID are the clowns for not being born rich? We are the clowns not you?
Exactly.. It’s weird. I mean, maybe he will wind up making 120k a year and hanging out on a beach in Spain. What a loser.
Maybe LiAngelo should go back to college and become the first Ball brother to get a college degree.
yikes
LOL
Playing overseas is not a bad gig today. Plus he can work on his game. That’s what I’d do. How bad do you want it.
I feel sympathy for Liangelo:
– He’s got to live up to hype that’s not fair (most college players don’t make the NBA)
– He’s constantly compared to his siblings (never fair)
– His dad is a grade-AAA moron
– Fans like to make fun of him for being an incredible athlete who’s just not quite good enough to play in the NBA, but who will undoubtedly get paid to play somewhere
But as much sympathy as I have for Liangelo, I feel doubly sorry for all the haters. To think that so many people care so much about this kid failing? That’s some kind of miserable.
