Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge is comfortable being a veteran presence with San Antonio, writes Tom Orbsorn of the San Antonio Express-News. A 15-year NBA veteran (and seven-time All Star), the 6’11” Aldridge will earn $24MM in his final year under contract.
“It’s fun,” Aldridge commented about his role among a young Spurs team. “They bring a lot of energy and a lot of spark. I’m just watching them learn and grow and take steps everyday in practice and games, and it’s been fun to watch. They’re just going to get better and better.”
Rookie guards Devin Vassell, drafted with the No. 11 pick out of Florida State, and Tre Jones, drafted with the No. 41 pick out of Duke, are the latest additions to the Spurs’ youth movement.
There’s more out of the Southwest Division:
- Star Mavericks center Kristaps Porzingis has been medically cleared to participate in non-contact defensive work and 5-on-0 play for the first time this season, according to Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News. Porzingis will start practicing and travel with the team during the club’s upcoming road trip to Phoenix and L0s Angeles to open up the regular season, though he won’t play until January.
- Rockets head coach Stephen Silas has said that reports of All-NBA guard James Harden‘s various possible trade destinations have not distracted the club, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. The superstar has been linked to the Nets, Sixers, and Heat, among other clubs, as he hopes for a trade. “He has been committed since he’s been here,” Silas said. “He’s been great in practice, good to talk to, listening, trying, asking good questions, pulling me aside and telling me the things that he sees.”
- With COVID-19 cases spiking in Memphis, the Grizzlies will not host any fans in person for games at their home court, the FedEx Forum, to start the regular season, according to a team press release.
Silas is a liar- but he has to say that crap.
Or maybe it’s the media (ESPN) who is lying? Ever think of that?
Harden is a professional. He is dedicated to playing basketball.
The media lying? Never
Spurs should trade Aldridge and DeRozan to try get draft picks or something.
I’d say 3 team deal
Spurs: Buddy Heild Harrison Barnes 1st rounder
Kings: DeMare DeRozan Otto Porter and a second rounder
Bulls: LaMarcus Aldridge
Spurs get a first round pick, they get two good shooters and can tank this season out in a loaded draft class for a superstar level talent. Heild and Murray would form a solid backcourt duo, Popp is a big fan of Barnes who can play either forward spot too.
Kings get rid of two horrible contracts and it cost them a first rounder but they get back a second, they get in a former all star veteran leader and get two really good expiring contracts. DeRozan would be a great leader for Haliburton and the Fox, while Porter adds some spacing.
Bulls swap out two expiring contracts and it cost them a second round pick but they get a former all star veteran leader also. Aldridge would be a great mentor for Carter Jr, Markeneen and Williams. Plus along with LaVine they could potentially be an wildcard for the 8th seed.
What’s the over/under on how soon Porzingis is out of the lineup due to an injury?
They shouldn’t rush KP back. Have always said he needs to add weight. And play C position. He’s not mobile enough to be running around. And you put more pressure on his legs that way.
Harden is a regular in the Men’s clubs in Houston. Truth has already come out about his tardiness. About separate rules for him. Yeah real professional.
Stephen Silas…wow good job lying. Guess anything coming put of Houston will be suspect from now on. Guess that is one strategy…throw the media off your tail. If u never tell the truth they can never guess your hand…in poker. It’s an analgy.
If the Sixers trade for Harden it will look something like this:
Sixers get: Harden and Chris Clemons
Rockets get: Simmons, Seth Curry, Thybulle, and 2-3 first round picks
Lol maybe you really are Sullivan. Who was talking about trades?
