Marvin Bagley III‘s father created a stir when he tweeted that he wanted to see his son traded, something the younger Bagley refused to talk about. The Kings’ star, De’Aaron Fox, insists the controversy hasn’t bothered the team, Jason Jones of The Athletic writes.
“I don’t think anybody’s out there playing basketball worried about two tweets,” Fox said of the Kings. “And if you are, this ain’t what you should be doing because (people are going) tweet you every day of your life while you’re playing in this league. If that’s what you’re worried about, then I don’t know what to tell you.”
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- Suns coach Monty Williams said Abdel Nader is “a full go” after recovering from a concussion, Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic tweets. Nader hasn’t played since the preseason after taking hard fall at Utah. Nader was tossed into the Chris Paul trade with the Thunder and had his $1.75MM salary for this season guaranteed in November.
- Josh Proctor has been named chief financial officer for the Warriors, the team announced in a press release. Proctor, who has over 20 years of financial management experience, will oversee all financial operations related to the Warriors and Chase Center. Liz Cardenas has been promoted to VP of financial planning & analysis, according to another press release.
- Stephen Curry and the Warriors might find it beneficial to explore a trade down the road, Michael Pina of Sports Illustrated opines. Curry turns 33 in March and Golden State might need to consider a rebuild by 2022, when his contract expires. Pina speculates that many teams would be interested in Curry and would surrender major assets for the two-time MVP.
LMAO Michael Pina you stooopid!!!
Steph gunna have a 72 point game next just to shut him up too hahaha
It worked for OKC when they traded Chris Paul at the height of his value, then they blew up the team. There’s no way that Golden State can sustain their gargantuan payroll, especially with no fans to sell tickets to.
Trading Klay Thompson will be very difficult after he suffered two major injuries. And trading Draymond is almost impossible with his contract.
So their only two options will be Curry and Wiggins, but who really wants to pay Wiggins $30M/year. Their best choice will be to trade Steph while he still has value, and the sooner they do it the more they will get for him.
Warriors arent trading anyone. Theyll eat the money and try to transition with Wiseman and the Wolves pick next year-
If everything breaks right they could be a decent team the next 3-4 yrs but the floor to this team is a pretty far fall – Stevie has his work cut out for him this time, Ill give him a year before I judge
When is the last time OKC won a championship? To judge Green’s value solely based on numbers is ridiculous. Lacob is not stupid. Keeping those 3 together is important. They knew what they were getting into when they traded for Oubre.
@Howie415 the rest of the NBA has wanted to break up Curry’s GSW for the last 7 years but instead they only ever add, and win. They are never going to stop until the day Steph retires as a Warrior.
I love how the clueless, clickbait, lowest-common-denominator writer tries to say “its cute Curry wants to be a 1-team guy but thats not how it goes” – its LACOB wants Curry to be a 1-team guy!
Light years baby, yall just keep getting left in the dust.
On Dec 1 I bet $50 to make $1500 on GSW taking the title and I can’t wait to spend my winnings thinking of all the GSW haters…if they thought 5 years of utter domination was bad, GSW is about to do 5 more.
I don’t know why people think they can’t keep a high payroll. They very much have shown they can and are willing to do so. Why do you keep hating on that? Isn’t that what we want every owner in sports to do? Then when one does it, you bash them. Did they spend it wisely? Not the best, but at least they’re trying to make a few more runs at it and not giving up and/or not being willing to invest in the team. Until they stop spending, I’ll believe they are willing to keep doing it, and good for them.
What hate are you talking about? They’re reasonable points. No one can play forever.
Warriors will never trade Curry. He is the face of the franchise. So some SI reporter needing to make up a story pushes a fake new story people believe it. Its called a slow sport news day.
@SheltonMathews – its pure delusion, they dont understand the game at all and are simply terrified of another run of 5+ straight Finals appearances. You can see their fear in their words.
Steph Curry broke so many brains, including many of them who make trolling comments on this site, and he’s about to break so many more when age 32-38 Curry is even better than he was in his 20s.
What those people do not understand is GSW already have their future building block in Wiseman. They also have T-wolves #1 pick next year. Bring in another cheap young player. By the time Wiseman gets his big contract Wiggins contract is off the books.
Warriors should trade Steph before his contract ends, then resign him. They could get a huge return for a guy like Steph, even though he “started slow” this year.
Sounds good but we would have to take back 35-45 million in salary to trade Steph so we wouldn’t have the cap space to re-sign him
Sounds good except for the spelling of re-sign, and the catch in the idea. It does work for low-salary low-demand guys though.
“Started slow”? Huh? What are talking about? 4 games and you are saying his career is over? Damn.
No, they will never, ever trade Steph Curry and even if they did the return would not be enough. No player package is worth Curry.
If Marvin and his dad are mad about him being benched in the fourth quarter, then he needs to prove his worth in the first three.
He’s clearly not doing that so far with a 35% field goal percentage and 7.1 PER.
Why are you mad at him, when your dumb FO picked Bagley over the child prodigy who deserved #1 and DEFINITELY at #2, Luka?
Mad?
Is “brownscavsr4me” a Sac Kings fan?
nah hes a cavs fan im pretty sure
Marty should know about poster names but he would prefer to rage on.
Draymond would be the third best player for Celtics
Draymond has more trade value than Walker
Draymond 22m. Walker 34m
Trade underpaid Draymond
Nobody would offer a young star and two lottery picks for Curry
No trade for Curry
In three games Draymond has the third lowest PER on his team, the second most fouls per game, is averaging 2 points on 12% shooting in 22mpg. Last season he shot 39% from the field on the worst team in the league.
He would not be the 3rd best Celtic, and he is not better or more valuable than:
Kemba Walker
Marcus Smart
Tristan Thompson
Grant Williams
Robert Williams III
(Maybe Daniel Theis but he is off to a bad start)
Or rookie Payton Pritchard
Also nobody wants a past-their-prime, undersized, bad shooting, average rebounding PF with 4 years and $72 million left on their contract. Who would trade for Draymond?
How did you edit your comment? You just added the two lines about Draymond has more trade value. Are you an editor or contributor or something for this app?
Anyone can edit their comments within five minutes of posting them.
Hmm…I can’t find that option when I post? Oh well thanks for the response
I find it on the website. I don’t use the app. But the website has the option to edit for 5 minutes…
3 games after not playing for 9 months is a solid basis for judging a player? Something tells you haven’t seen your feet in 20 years.
Thats why I mentioned his shooting percentage from last season and his attributes at the bottom. Why is it that when people on this app disagree with someone, they have to make a pathetic and rude comment like yours. Grow up. Tell me you disagree with what I said like a man.
I’ll say you sound salty about Draymond. Probably still hate him for helping your team get their assses handed to them 3/4 times.
Nope, not salty at all :) Sillivan just said the Draymond would be the 3rd best player on the celtics and I disagreed. But I do thank you for reminding me we won a championship 4 years ago. Always feels pretty good thinking about it lol
Dude. Calmn down. You said in 3 games Draymond had a lower PER than all these other players. 3 games is not enough time to judge a player. You can not legitimately judge Draymond’s future until after a full season.
Draymond’s decline started long before this year. Look at the stats. You cannot judge a post by cherrypicking one of multiple proofs.
brownscavs, I presume you can edit your screen for up to 5 minutes from posting; look for the blue ‘edit’ above the ‘reply’ after it posts.
I don’t have the edit option on this app, I have an iphone, is that why?
Tell me to “calmn” down after you insult me and I tell you that wasn’t necessary? Ok “dude”.
But you’re right I judged this seasons stats wayy too quick
Why would you bring up the year (minus Dec 25 2019) Draymond was clearly phoning it in because he had no one but G-Leaguers to play with? You wouldnt have cared either.
If you want to cherry pick 3 games, the Rockets Christmas Day game and the last 2 games is the real Draymond. He is not worth trading because he’s too important to winning games. GSW isn’t trading any of their big money players and its going to make so many people mad.
So Draymond is a type player that would phone it in and stop caring. Ok I guess I didn’t know that
Oh my goodness. I don’t understand this message. Green is the player with the highest two-way IQ in the NBA. He is a all defense player, a great supporter for all the young guns. A player coach. You watch statistics and say the contract is too much? I has watched the warriors vs. my Kings and Draymond was the best player of the court. He don’t brought a 40+ point game. So what. Green, Tatum, Brown by the Celtics. Who is number one, two, three. Ist a difficult question. Basketball doesn’t own scoring
Draymond wins you games, period. We live in the dumbest, worst era because the NBA media hates GSW so much they focused on personal player stats like getting a triple double in a loss, instead of what winning basketball looks like (every single thing Draymond does with Curry on the floor), completely not understanding that the reason why the player got a triple double is the reason why they lost in the first place (gameplan doesnt work).
Draymond getting a 5-5-5 is going to win you more games than any Russell Westbrook game, period, and NBA “stats > wins” media cannot stand this.
I guess my argument focused too much on his scoring, but I guess where I was originally coming from was that he wouldn’t just all of a sudden be the third best celtics player. All the players I listed I felt would be just as effective without needing him. But everyone disagrees so I am probably incorrect
If that were true Celtics would be the best team in the east or even in the NBA. That was funny naming all those average players above Green.
Lol youre probably right
wdym. u cant blame dryamond for all that at lest hes an excellent playmaker and defender. he had covid for a few months and also had to recover from a foot injury and didnt and still struggling with conditioning and stuff. without green, curry isnt gonna get a 50-60 point games whatever happens. wiggins and oubre won’t be shooting more if it werent for green. hes literlaly like da mentor on da team. he may never be a great shooter or reliable scorer but he could indeed be a reliable floor general and develop da young players into stars. you’ll see
Good points
lmao tristan thompson??? dis dude got posterized by sekou and is a big liability on defense. he went scoreless in 20 mins just grabbing 7 boards just taking up da space and odin nothing else. ur comparing thompson to green hes way best his prime even drummond is better than him and at keast could put up some decent double doubles or 20 point games.
I didn’t really mean to compare the two although I guess I technically did. I just feel that Tristan fits better with the celtics because they need a center. But im sure Draymond would fit in well too
I’d only trade Curry to the Knicks for unwanted young stars Smith Jr, Knox and Frank
And Of Course 2 Knicks own unprotected Firsts
Add small salary filler
Warriors rebuild around Wolves pick and two Knicks own picks
What makes you think the Warriors would trade Curry to the Knicks.
He thinks we are talking about Michael Curry
Seriously why do you even answer the Sillyman.
Sorry bro you do it to yourself. Why are the Knicks, team who trade for every player. Or sign every player. Or draft every player. Did Dolan ban you from MSG. Or is Oakley your dad lol…..
At some point it just gets useless.
A small salary filler? For a guy making the super max? Math not popular where you’re from?
dang u wanna trade a 3 time nba champion for a trio of busts and unreliable shooters and scorers? why rebuild when u literally got a big 3 and promising players in wiggins, paschall, and lee
I’d also trade young talents Wiggins and Oubre to Pistons for unwanted superstar Blake Griffin and a top 3 protected First or unprotected First
Add small salary filler
Oubre is the worst starting in basketball. No one is giving up anything of value for him. Warriors would have to attach assets just to move the bum.
Oubre is far from the worst starter in NBA, he is great at everything, he just had 4 bad games of shooting 3’s that you are pinning as the only thing he ever did on the court.
When you are a hater, facts and logic are NEVER on your side.
lmao im pretty sure da type of team will only win da maximum of 20-25 game at least.
Pina, Curry will never be traded. Derek Jeter. Barry Sanders. Kobe. Curry. All have one thing in common, as do few others (posters feel free to add examples). Name = team. You hear the name and you name the team. Hear Jeter, hear Yankees. Hear Sanders, hear Lions. Hear kobe hear Lakers. Hear Curry hear Warriors. Few players mean as much to a team, an organization, a community, and to the fans.
There are others and they will NEVER be traded. Pina, you clearly didn’t spend 1975 to 2015 waiting for a player like Curry.
The ONLY way they do, is if he ever privately goes to Lacob and asks him to. Otherwise, it would be franchise killing. They’ve built such a huge brand in the Bay with the Splash Brothers, you’d lose huge equity in dealing him, to the point it wouldn’t be worth it. He has to be a Warrior for life.
This is 100% true. The greatest player in your franchise history and the biggest guy on your team’s most successful period of history should not be traded. Magic wasn’t traded. Bird wasn’t traded. Jordan wasn’t traded. Kobe wasn’t traded. It was a shame Pippin got to the point he needed to be traded.
Some things are more important than maximizing asset values as if this is some spreadsheet full of numbers. These aren’t robots. Curry should only wear a Warriors uniform. There is no trade they will make where they get another Curry level player in return in a trade. Look how long it took the Bucks between Kareem and getting Giannis. Give Curry the Kobe treatment and enjoy every game you have him because every Warriors fan will miss him like hell when the time comes he no longer plays for them.
Yes it’s interesting when a few of those Superstar guys want to keep playing when they’re older.. they move on to other teams for those last couple of years. Hakeem Olajuwon Karl Malone, guys like that. I’m sure you could name a few more.
It’s funny with Scottie Pippen he actually had a little sour experience with the bulls in a couple of ways that he left a little early. He wasn’t done being a top player when Jordan left, he still had a lot to give.
But even Michael Jordan who fits this description and would never be traded by the Bulls, retired and wanted to play a couple more years so we went to another team just to finish that out.
The Warriors have already started a rebuild. Wiseman is a future star at 19, Paschall is 23 and Wiggins is only 25. If they keep Oubre, he’s also young. Still need to see how Mannion , Poole and Jessup turn out , but they may have two good picks come this next draft . No reason I can see to trade Curry or Dray. Durant is about the same age as Curry, bet the Nets could get a lot for him.
I almost agree with everything you say. I think age doesn’t matter with Wiggins as he is a bust you just wait to move on from. No point in having any faith in him. The idea though that you could have the Curry, Thompson, and Green group of get stars along with Wiseman, the very likely high Wolves pick and potentially a high Warriors pick in a great deep draft is an amazing opportunity to reset things while greatly extending your contending window.
The contract from Wiggins is very bad and the shooting is very struggle but he play a good transition and the last two games a good defense too. The player wiggins is Okey.
A bust that averages 20 points a game for his career? I don’t think you understand what a bust is
Have you watched any Wiggins games this year? A bust? WTF he’s a stud but has a mediocre basketball IQ, Draymond is literally on court screaming at him until he learns how to win, which he will.
I agree. Let’s see how these guys work out before you get rid of them. Dray and Curry are perfect role models for the next generation of Warriors.
ikr their already in a rebuilding process and almost finished all they ned to do is have thompson return from his gruesome injuries and see how da big three play with their young players
Klay injury has messed up the plan. Warriors still got till TD to see what they really got. Wiseman is great pickup. Half the posters here didn’t even like him. Now it’s Currys age. Bron just won at 36. Warriors never going to trade their best player ever. You really think Klay ain’t coming back. Slow your roll. Give this team till TD. They have basically a new group here. It takes time to build chemistry. They can make moves by TD. Mistake counting them out. They’ll be a playoff team. Even if they’re not. Next yrs draft is loaded. It would mean their pick and Minny pick. And Klay back. Is that so bad. Give it time
Next years draft is loaded based on what.
Based on the 15 nba ready assets we already know about
Next years draft is loaded compared to last years, which only has Wiseman, Haliburton and Avdija as future superstars.
Based on knowledge you lack. But you can read about it. From every sports news outlet there is. Every alphabet on tv. Every sports writer in the nation. Every college sports basketball writers. Every team scouts in the NBA. Must I go on. And that’s not counting the overseas talent. Truth is if you actually wanted. You could look for it yourself. There are videos and scouting reports on all first rd prospects. You can use your computer for this, not just for commenting about it.
I’ve always liked you Al, great post.
-Gary, Warriors fan.
Not a Warriors fan. But I respect what they’ve done. And what they are trying to do now. Good franchise
Warriors will never trade Steph. To suggest so shows a total lack of insight into how the Warriors operate and what this particular player means to the team and its owners.
To not understand a sportswriter promoting a controversial opinion shows a total lack of insight into how sports media operates and what page views mean to revenue and owners.
Dumb clickbait articles really shouldnt be linked here, huh?
