Needing an open roster spot to complete the James Harden trade, the Rockets elected to waive Bruno Caboclo, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Houston had just 14 players on standard contracts before completing the deal, but is taking back Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum and Rodions Kurucs while only sending out Harden.
Caboclo, 25, saw limited action for the Rockets, appearing in six games and averaging 6.0 minutes per night. He also played eight games for Houston at the end of last season after being acquired from the Grizzlies at the trade deadline.
The Rockets will take a $361K cap hit on Caboclo – whose 2020/21 minimum salary wasn’t fully guaranteed – and are now $5.7MM under the luxury tax, tweets Bobby Marks of ESPN.
No!!!!!!! But…the potential tho….
If they would just wait 2 more years, he’ll be 2 years away from stardom!
But but he’s suppose to be Giannis!
No, he is the Brazilian Kevin Durant. At least he should be.
I hope for once you’re right. Because him going on to be great other than Houston would be hilarious. Actually, I have no hope that you’re right because you’re always wrong.
Those two years must’ve been two Jupiter years, not Earth years.
I can’t wait to see Bruno’s Revenge…
2035? Too early?
He’s going to get picked up
I don’t get this – the eye test is that he’s an effective player. He’s a Brandon Ingram-type body with a nice stroke and good defensive instincts. He looked great in the limited time Houston played him.
Big diff between BI type and BI lol
My point was that he’s 6’9″+ with a huge wingspan and athletic ability.
true. he used to be a double double machine back in memphis when he actually got a chance before da arrival of anderson and a still injured winslow took away his mins. now that he has an improving three pt shot, its hard to imagine him getting cut so early
It’s hard to believe he’s still just 25
I thought he was 26
da raptors should bring their former pick 20 back lol. we’re not gunna waste time with a washed up baynes.
Arthur, what are rules for Houston trading Oladipo later this season?
My understanding is they could trade him again immediately, but if they want to aggregate his salary with another player for matching purposes, they have to wait 60 days?
Basically, yes, though that restriction won’t last for a full 60 days due to the condensed season. Should lift on March 5, assuming that part of the trade gets officially finalized today.
If Wood made it at 24. He can still do it. Wood only got a chance cause Drummond went down. He can still be a productive bench player. I wouldn’t give up at 25. Who here turns down 3 mill a yr overseas. Or go tear up the G-league. Campazzo is a 29 yr old rookie in Denver. Never give up.
Great point. I was clueless at 24/25.
The Raptors took him in the first round six and a half years ago. If he was going to have a breakout season like Christian Wood it probably would have already happened by now, don’t you think?
because he got a last sec redemption with da grizs and was a frontcourt beast with his athleticism and his shot blocking abilities until they saved joakim’s career and drafted jackson to be an upgrade over jarrell martin(who they had a difficult time developin.) so there were pretty much no room for him in da rotation. so he joined da rockets who they gave limited mins cuz of da arrival of boogie and wood.
Not necessarily Woods was buried on the Bucks bench and was shifting between Milwaukee and the G league before he got the blessing of being released
Waive Claxton and pick him up nets, keep your 3 roster spots open. Gerald Green….
nah. we still got TLC and another superstar in harden so i dont think we should get green. all we need is a wing who could play defense and maybe shoot but we already got that covered with harden and joe harris. all we need is more frontcourt depth.
So your a nets fan now ? What happened to your raptors ? Sad what fans do nowadays lol
And you contradicted yourself. You said “all we need is a wing” but then said you have it in harden and Harris but then “all we need is front court depth” LOL
Definitely need someone good in the front court, need to make another trade, not much in the way of free agents
