Sixers guard Seth Curry returned a positive test for the coronavirus today, which the team learned of during the first half of Thursday’s game vs. Brooklyn, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (Twitter link).
Curry, who was unavailable for the game due to a sore left ankle, immediately went into an “isolation room” and left the arena separate from the team shortly thereafter, says Wojnarowski. Before leaning of the positive test, Curry was on the 76ers’ bench for the first quarter, Woj adds (Twitter link).
As a result of Curry’s positive test, the Sixers will remain in New York tonight and commence contact tracing in the morning, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Wojnarowski (Twitter links). It remains unclear how many Philadelphia players might have to miss time due to the league’s health and safety protocols.
The Nets, who are scheduled to play the Grizzlies on Friday night, are still flying to Memphis, tweets Joe Vardon of The Athletic. Even though Curry didn’t play at all and likely wasn’t in close contact with Nets players, it’s possible some of those players will be affected by contact tracing protocols.
One Nets player who won’t make the trip to Memphis is Kyrie Irving, though his absence appears unrelated to COVID-19. As Malika Andrews of ESPN details, Irving didn’t play on Thursday night for personal reasons and will also miss Friday’s game. Head coach Steve Nash referred to it as a “private matter,” while Caris LeVert said Irving texted teammates before Thursday’s win.
Ahhh s**t
The whole team in quarantine. Whole team lol
Come on now. If they got thru a football season. We can get thru an NBA season. Please
The NBA plays more often than once a week, which really complicates matters.
Also, the NBA is filled with selfish idiots. So that is working against them.
Yeah I get that. NFL also has 3 times the players and staff. Not so hard to stay inside. Bubble with team only, follow strict protocols. We are almost out of this mess. If I made 500K to 40 mill a yr. I’d have no problem staying safe. Just 5 months left.
Kyrie knew
The writing is on the wall or in this case, the cotton swab. The number of positives appears to be snowballing in the Association.
Sixers played like trash last night.
They have looked good this year but have had a super easy schedule so far, that’s about to change.
Sloppy ball and sluggishness was the culprit last night. Doc was pissed. Well see how the season shakes out for the contenders, some may be pretenders. And covid or injuries may have a big role. Side Bar- Wonder if NBA is being looked at by OSHA. Multiple work related Covid cases are an OSHA recordable. They probably could go after the NBA or any league for that matter with fines.
After adding $20 million TPE player. Celtics would be capable to sweep 76ers in playoffs
76ers need to make good trade ASAP
So to the best of my knowledge for us civilians – if we’re in contact w/ a person who tests positive we have to quarantine for 10 days
So if Curry was on the bench does the entire Philly squad quarantine for 10 days?
Didn’t they shut down ALL sports last year? I stayed at home by myself for 3 months. That didn’t help so we just need for this thing to pass and open everything up to a normal life.
They’ve been quarantining positive cases for how long now and the virus is still out there. This thing is going to make its rounds no matter what we do. We just need to get through it.
I hope it passes sooner rather than later. It’s going to make its wave and be done until the next one comes along.
first the Phillies now this? why is it always our teams? (and it wasnt even out fault the 1st time)
Ben Simmons plays 32 minutes
Stats
11, 4, 2
76ers need Harden for deep playoffs run
Harden can do 11, 4, 2 in first quarter
Ask Nuggets and Hawks involved to get Harden
granite he’s going to miss approximately two weeks I think it’s going to be 10 days for quarantine or whatever it is so he’s going to miss approximately 2 weeks so but it’s just the snake bitten Philadelphia sports scene especially the sixers it seems like anytime something good for the sixers happens it just completely falls apart or turns to dog turd, hot gooey pile. the sixers and start seven one all the fans are of the sixers are happy everything is great then we get to play our division rival the nets without Kyrie Irving and without Kevin Durant then we find out in the first quarter that he tested positive for covid and then we decided to go out and play the rest of the game looking absolutely atrocious and losing by 13 points to a Brooklyn team that didn’t have their two best players so just everything turns to crap eventually for the sixers
First quarter
Start with 5-12
First 7 minutes first quarter
10-22
Lose the game because of first 7 minutes first quarter
Where’s Kyrie ????
Is he so upset he can’t play ?
You in Brooklyn now. Play for your team and fans. Stay in the spotlight. That’s how you make change. That’s how you inspire change. Imagine Ali not fighting cause his feelings were hurt. Geez man !!
Simmons and Danny Green allowed too many easy points last night
Are their defense overrated?
Maybe 76ers focus on offense this season
