New Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr., who has participated in only one practice since being added to Houston earlier this month from the Cavaliers, has a lot to gain from his new G League assignment, Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle opines.
“[The G League assignment] is for him to get his feet wet with what we do and how we do it,” Rockets head coach Stephen Silas said of Porter. “And then, he hasn’t played in quite a while. So, to have consistent games night after night or every other night is important for him and his growth as far as being a part of our team.”
There’s more from around the Southwest Division:
- The Pelicans have not seen their defense take the strides they were hoping for under new coach Stan Van Gundy, per Christian Clark of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Van Gundy has previously coached several top-10 defenses in his prior head coaching stops with the Heat, Magic and Pistons. “We need a whole different defensive disposition,” Van Gundy said. “We just do. To keep the ball in front of us. To fight. To make shots more difficult.”
- A Grizzlies–Thunder matchup in Memphis, initially projected to be played during the second half of the NBA season schedule, has been shifted up to Wednesday, February 17 at 8 p.m. CT, per a Grizzlies press release.
- Spurs rookie guard Tre Jones has been assigned to San Antonio’s G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs, per Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News (Twitter link). Jones will travel to Orlando to join the NBAGL “bubble” campus.
Rockets fall in love with fake
Everything is fake 2021
Kevin Porter for top 55 protected pick fake
First round swap with Nets fake
Bey to Pistons for lottery protected pick fake
Covington for Blazers top 16 protected fake
Due to serious injury
Wall is fake talent
Cousins is fake talent
Exum is fake talent
All fake this year
First, I see you posting, your are not and will never be a GM. Stop trying to act smart, everybody can google stats. Second, if you are saying Wall and Boogie are “fake talents” is crazy. Anyone can see the protections in traded picks.
The only thing he is right about is Exum, who’s always hurt and is a prime candidate for a buy out. Wall has been way better for Houston than Russ has been, going 1-10 as a starter for the Wizards. Cousins had a slow start, but has looked better over the past week or two.
well ur rockets need exum’s defense tho boogie starting to show his old self again and finally putting up some effort.
The Rockets already have one of the top rated defenses in the NBA since they’ve gotten everyone healthy again. Oladipo and Wall are both great defenders, and PJ Tucker is a shutdown defender.
Rookie Jae’Sean Tate has also been great on defense, while Wood is decent and still working on getting better on that end of the court.
And while Exum is a great defender (when he’s healthy), the Rockets don’t really need his defense since their team arguably has the most improved defense in the league since last season already.
i would pickup exum if i were the raptors cuz their defense is almost non-existent. our best defender, OG is still out. yes we did beat the magic but if we’re going against the cavs, 76ers, or grizs, we’re gunna get destroyed on defense. well considering the fact that exum is still injured and the acquistion of porter, and a crowded backcourt, im pretty sure exum will either get released or buyout or even salary dumped at the trade deadline
You can always use more defense.
im pretty sure sillivian is a bot or something
Sullivan could possibly run the rockets better than they are being run, even with all his fakeness.
More likely a gatekeeper.
ALL fake huh?
Sillivan, I’m sure you’re a nice guy, considering you don’t pick fights and ignore the aholes on this app…but you have got to check your grammer. What does “Rockets fall in love with fake” mean?? If English isn’t your native language, that is understandable, but if it is you should use complete sentences so we can understand your talking points. Just thought I’d give you some advice (that you didn’t ask for)
NO has underachieved. And SVG has to take some blame for that. Don’t watch them enough to tell you why. But this Ball thing has been going on since the Bubble. Not a good sign to me cause it shows contract is more important than playing. Anyone who has real talent (#2) pick in draft. His playing takes care of all contracts. I always like his gm. I’m starting to turn on him. Imagine being done at 22. He should be getting better every yr. look at Bron at 36. Real talent improves every yr.
If SVG actually does anything to help the Pelicans, it will be a win for the Pelicans.
