Warriors guard Klay Thompson provided an update on his recovery from a torn Achilles as he joined the broadcast team for Golden State’s game Saturday night, writes Nick Friedell of ESPN. Thompson admitted that it “kills” him to have to miss a second straight season because of an injury.
“I’m living good,” he said. “To be back in the building that I’m so eagerly awaiting to play in. Just a little bored at times. Stuff’s slow with trying to let my Achilles heal and get to the next stage, which is mobility work, but I’m feeling good. I’m happy to be with my teammates, obviously. Unfortunately, I’m not playing. It kills me every day, but I plan on playing for a long time, and I don’t want to have any mishaps come this rehab.”
The interview marked Thompson’s first public comments since he suffered the injury during a workout in November. He has stayed around the team since his surgery, appearing frequently at home games to cheer on his teammates.
There’s more on the Warriors:
- Draymond Green believes he needs more time to get his game back to where it should be, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Green, who missed the start of the season with a muscle strain in his foot, admits he’s not playing the way he is accustomed to. “I think I’m like two, three weeks away,” he said. “Continue to get in better shape. My speed is kind of getting there. I dunked the ball today. That was big time. I was really excited about that. That might’ve been my first dunk of the year. I’m not sure though. No. I got a dunk a couple games ago on two feet. That was my first one-foot dunk of the year.”
- Jordan Poole turned in possibly the best game of his career the night before leaving for the G League bubble, Slater adds in the same story. Poole, who has been alternating playing time with Mychal Mulder as a reserve guard, scored 16 points in 21 minutes. He has appeared in 15 of the Warriors’ 20 games this season, but averages just 9.5 minutes, and the team decided to send him to the G League to get more playing time. “The G League isn’t looked at as having a negative impact,” Poole said. “I wasn’t getting minutes, I wasn’t playing, I wasn’t able to get on the floor and in the G League, I will be able to play 30-plus minutes.”
- Golden State’s January 15 game at Phoenix, which was postponed because the Suns didn’t have enough available players, has been rescheduled for March 4, according to the Warriors’ website.
National tv needs to stop this
All 3 Warriors games are televised at TNT and ABC this week
Week of Jan 31
Why does it need to stop?
Why would it need to stop? The Curry/Green-led Warriors play the most entertaining and perfect style of basketball in the league by a long, long way. When they’re firing they are unstoppable and no different to the Harlem Globetrotters in terms of in-game excellence and plays of the year contenders.
They are the best product in the league to put on national games and have been since 2013 (except for last seasons * season, which doesnt count anyway)
I lold at Harlem Globetrotters
You surely haven’t been watching Utah lately…
By standings, the biggest market Knicks are comparable to Warriors
National TV knows top 5 largest cities are
New York
Chicago
Houston
…..
Balance out the games
You said Top 5, then mentioned only three. And it’s not like the Bay Area is a small market.
Bay Area market is #3
You forgot that LA is the second largest market?
Houston isn’t in the top 5 markets. in 2020 it ranked:
1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Philadelphia
5. Dallas-Ft. Worth
SF-Oakland-SJ is #6, Houston is #8.
Who cares about market size, it’s a global game.
Forbes top NBA franchises by value (2020):
1. Knicks 4600
2. Lakers 4400
3. Warriors 4300
4. Bulls 3200
These games are set months before. The Knicks weren’t supposed to be contenders and so a lot of people would not tune in to watch.
The Warriors couldn’t barely played on a National level for 25 years, you all can put up with them for the last 6. I’ve had to watch the Lakers every year even when they had that bad stretch. Let us have our moment dammit
Everyone conveniently forgetting Draymond lost 20 pounds from covid and would rather say his career is over based off 10 games, even when he played really well in a couple of them.
This is how dumb the haters are. Just total delusion. Just keep trying to make the fall of GSW happen, but it never will as long as Steph and Dray are there. Draymond remains the #1 on-court IQ player in the league, more than Steph, Bron, anyone. If anyone should be player-coach its Green. GSW could easily fire Kerr and make Draymond player-coach and reel off ring after ring… He’s so important and haters use stats against him, but if you actually watch him play you see the things numbers don’t show. But haters dont even watch the games, theyre ultimately just dumb casuals ruining the league for everyone else. Draymond Green is an elite basketball player whether the stats or haters choose to believe it or not.
What will be fun next year is when Klay gets back and the starting 5 ill be one of the best in the NBA. All the haters will be here hating on GSW because they are a elite team again.
I agree. And they have the potential for two first round picks. But I think the Warriors will make a move still the season. I’m not crazy enough to think it’s a move that will put them in contention but it should improve them. They still have Thompson’s $9.3 million injury exception. And, this site has posted several trade rumors over the last couple weeks that the Warriors are testing potential trades.
Ive seen No hating, Ive seen people say they are a 7-10 seed all along….
Where are they now exactly?
They are who we thought they are (Denny Green voice) Seems the only people delusional are the GSW fans themselves. Seems this board has been spot on at where GSW is at
Marty puts down Dray himself when bowing to Curry.
Maybe he should wait until these GSW haters show before complaining about them… unless that’s all he has.
But how hilarious was it to listen to Klay and Draymond roast Rodney McGruder?
lol im pretty sure mcgruder got pissed off prob just cuz his pistons were getting blown out despite the fact that he got the chance to play 6 mins which is rare when u look at the pistons’ overcrowded backcourt
Another Sillydebate ….
Green has not had a gd yr. Obrue is not having a good yr. Wiggins is ok but should be better. Then there’s the injuries. Warriors are coming along. But you can’t expect this team to compete in playoffs. Dont get why they haven’t picked up a backup C yet. Personally I don’t think Obrue n Wiggins is gd mix. Best to move Obrue as expiring contract. Gordon fits this offense best. Even with Klay back he is a good mix. Warriors can still improve. Especially if they make a trade. So it will be interesting watching to see what they do.
They need Oubre for the defense. Even if his offense is inconsistent (he’s turning it around a bit), he’s still playing on the top backcourt player on D. And I’d argue Wiggins is quietly showing that he’s a very good fit for when allay gets healthy and he’d be looked at as a #3 scorer and more leaned on for defense.
