USA Basketball issued a press release today announcing its 12-man roster for the AmeriCup qualifying tournament taking place in Puerto Rico later this month. Several players representing Team USA in games against The Bahamas on February 19 and Mexico on February 20 have already been reported, with former All-Stars Isaiah Thomas and Joe Johnson leading the way.
However, today’s announcement includes a few more players with NBA experience that we haven’t already passed along. Josh Boone, James Nunnally, and Jordan Sibert will also be part of the roster, per today’s announcement.
Here are more odds and ends from around the basketball world:
- FIBA has revealed the groups for the Tokyo Olympics men’s basketball tournament, announcing today that Team USA will be part of Group A alongside France and Iran. The fourth team in the group will be the winner of a qualifying tournament that includes Canada, Greece, Turkey, China, the Czech Republic, and Uruguay..
- While players will get a break from March 5-10, between the first and second halves of the season, they’ll have to undergo daily COVID-19 testing during that time and will likely be required to be back in their team’s market two days before the end of that break, says Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link).
- Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report released an updated version of his 2021 mock draft, as did ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz (Insider link). Both mocks have Cade Cunningham at No. 1, Evan Mobley at No. 2, and Jalen Suggs at No. 4, but disagree about which G League Ignite player should be at No. 3 — Wasserman has Jonathan Kuminga there, while Givony and Schmitz favor Jalen Green.
Suggs at 4
Kuminga at 5?
No offense but what is the deal with this dude’s eye
It looks like
Warriors have a chance to pick both Gonzaga players
Suggs
Krisper
“Krisper”?
Are you talking about Corey Kispert or are you making chicken fingers in your air fryer?
Trade idea
Sillivan gets: tendies
Toilet gets: demolished
I don’t think Kuminga is worth a top 3/5 pick. Dudes really raw and in this draft class you have some real studs. That’s not to say a team won’t take him as a top pick. Some teams make bad decisions.
I’d have it
1. Cunningham – Washington
2. Mobley – Pistons
3. Kuminga – TWolves
4. Green – Magic
5. Suggs – Knicks
6. Williams – Bulls
7. Johnson – Thunder
8. Barnes – Kings
9. Brown – Spurs
10. Duke – Pelicans
How can you pick the teams now. Makes no sense. Even the value now is way too early for me. You can’t add teams now. Cause you won’t know team order or team needs till end of season.
It’s just a guess bro, basically everything that isn’t a fact is guessing I don’t see why people hate early mock drafts.
I think Washington will have the worst record and I think Cunningham is the best pick especially for them hence why I chose that. Heaps of networks make early predictions it’s just fun and starts a conversation. Why not have a guess who you think will suck and who you think they should add
Yeah ok I get that. Not really a college guy. Only watch tournaments and end of season. To watch out for next NBA talent. For me it’s just going to change a lot. And especially the teams picking. That’s all
Haven’t really checked draft talent yet. Saw a bit of Cunningham and D Duke. Duke cause he’s more like 7-10. Cunningham is a serious talent. I just don’t see him as a PG. I’ve seen Magic live and his whole career basically. And not Bron or Ben are even close. Magic ran the team and managed the game. He knew his players and who to use. Magic was a natural PG. One of best ever. The Goat of PGs really. Bron and Ben are forwards who can play the point. Both great passers and high IQ. There’s more to that for being a true PG. Cade to me falls into their category. His best position will be a point F. Like Brons was and is. And like Bens should be. Doc put him on the wing already. Cunningham certainly looks like the #1 pick, great size and skill level.
