Serbian center and former Spurs first-round pick Nikola Milutinov has suffered a major shoulder injury playing for CSKA Moscow and will undergo surgery, Ennio Terrasi Borghesan of Sportando relays. Milutinov, who suffered the injury last week against Bayern Munich, signed a three-year contract with the EuroLeague powerhouse last June. Milutinov was selected by the Spurs with the 26th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. However, he has yet to sign an NBA contract. He played five seasons with Olympiacos in Greece.
We have more from around the basketball world:
- The G League will have 14 additional players on the Orlando campus as fill-ins in case of injuries, callups or other issues, Jonathan Givony of ESPN tweets. Rawle Alkins, Isaiah Briscoe and Malik Pope are among the players on the list.
- Former NBA guard Daryl Macon has parted ways with Galatasaray Istanbul, the team tweets. He’s joining AEK Athens, Lithuanian journalist Donatas Urbonas tweets. Macon began the 2019/20 season on a two-way deal with Miami and was waived last January. He also played for Dallas.
- Reports surfaced last week that the All-Star Game, which originally was scheduled to be held in Indianapolis this season, could be held after all in Atlanta. Now, the NBA and the players’ union are discussing the addition of both a dunk and three-point contest there on the weekend of March 6-7, Marc Stein of the New York Times tweets.
I think the all star game need more blindfolded events. Imagine the 3 pt contest but everyone has to wear a blindfold. Pretty impressive if they still can make shots.
Dunk contest blindfolded might be more dangerous, but also exhilarating.
The fans don’t have to wear blindfolds lol just the players
Small Market gets hosed again… Indy is always taking it on the chin with NBA marketing.
This is an extreme scenario granted. Hope they get the chance again if normalcy ever resumes…
Indy is getting the All-Star in 2024, already confirmed!
I was hoping the one positive thing to come from this pandemic would be the end of the dunk contest. They haven’t been any good since they started allowing players to miss and keep going. In fact I’d probably argue that the last really entertaining dunk contest was about 20 years ago when Vince Carter was dominating.
Must’ve had your eyes closed for the LaVine Vs Gordon dunks of the last few years. They have produced some of the best dunks of all time.
Nope, just had zero interest in watching it.
Same. But I feel the same way about the all star game. I’d rather watch a Wolves-Cavs game.
Blindfolds Jerry, blindfolds!
NBA all star weekend should be made as a cheap ish pay per view event.
Have a good amount of fans and celebs in attendance but make those at home pay abit for it. NBA is losing heaps because of covid and it could do with a little top up, plus it could donate cheats to covid relief or whatever.
Have a skills competition, 3 point comp, dunk contest then the all star game.
Just make up the skills, shooting and dunk comp with non all star players but still good contenders.
Skills:
Guards: John Wall, DeAaron Fox, CJ McCollum, DeJounte Murray, Lonzo Ball, Russell Westbrook
Forwards/Centres: Pascal Siakim, Tobias Harris, Blake Griffin, John Collins, Draymond Green, KP
3 Point comp: Buddy Heild, Seth Curry, Joe Harris, Duncan Robinson, Patty Mills, KCP, Gary Trent Jr, Tim Hardaway Jr,
Dunk Comp: Jones Jr, DeRozan, Miles Bridges, Andrew Wiggins, Hami Diallo, Obi Toppin
Thought if your putting a price on people at home buying it your going to want lots of competitors and good ones so here’s who I would suggest.
My money would be on Fox, Siakim, Mills and Bridges
No one is paying money for this. That is a horrible idea. They would lose more money on this…
I wouldn’t call it a stupid idea. In fact I like the idea of a revenue grab, but I don’t see anyone actually paying to watch unless there is a significant value prop. Not sure how many people even watching the free version now.
This could be the year for blindfolds…
Very few people would pay. You would lose all the advertising money from commercials. Its not gonna happen. Plus I’m sure there are contracts where TNT has the rights to the event.
Punk contest would be more appropriate with this league…could star James Harden,Kevin Porter Jr., Kyrie et. al. whining about how hatd their life is. Winner gets a huge bottle of Whine.
Why are we even discussing this? Re-run the 1975 World Series and you would get just as many viewers.
Lol no one actually watches baseball
I don’t see why my blindfolds idea isn’t getting more traction.
