Sixers forward Tobias Harris advised Ben Simmons that the best way to quell trade rumors is to win a title, Harris told Sam Amick of The Athletic. Simmons was mentioned prominently as part of a potential package for James Harden before Harden was dealt to Brooklyn.
“I had conversations with Ben, too,” Harris said. “I was like, ‘The only way you become untradeable, pretty much, is if you win a championship.’ If you win a championship, nobody is breaking apart (that) team. You’ll add pieces to the team, but you’re not breaking up the core pieces. That was one of the things (he talked with Simmons about). I think it was kind of motivating (for him).”
We have more from the Atlantic Division:
- Raptors coach Nick Nurse does not anticipate that they’ll receive any compensation from the Timberwolves for assistant coach Chris Finch, Blake Murphy of The Athletic tweets. Finch was hired as Minnesota head coach on Monday, and Nurse was happy to see him get the opportunity, Eric Koreen of The Athletic tweets. “I’ve always seen it as my job to help people (achieve) their career ambitions,” Nurse said.
- The Raptors head coach said he became aware of Minnesota’s interest in Finch over the weekend, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports tweets. “It did all happen really quick. Those things are never done until they’re done but we had a pretty good idea that (last night) would be Chris’ last game and then we would be on the move… It really did happen in like 36 hours.” Nurse will temporarily take more control of offensive duties while re-organizing his assistants’ responsibilities.
- Kevin Durant‘s hamstring is showing improvement, according to Brian Lewis of the New York Post. “I reiterate we’re all optimistic and positive that he’s improving at a rapid rate, and will be back soon,” Nets head coach Steve Nash said. However, Durant will miss his fifth consecutive game on Tuesday, Brian Mahoney of The Associated Press tweets.
Gee. All you have to do is win the title Ben. Seems pretty easy.
The best way to get rich is to invest a million dollars and live off the interest.
yeah i mean, like cmon Toby. and if you’re gonna say it why tell it to the press?
“Yo, You don’t want to get traded? Just win a championship. Don’t let nobody know I told you bro.”
Danny Green: “uh dude, I won a title last season…I was traded….twice…to end up with you guys….”
Harris : “Nobody cares about you, Danny “
The way Simmons doesn’t get traded is telling Brand to get a good passing, good shooting PG to come save him.
76ers are seeking major trade but not Embiid
May be Harris?
Ringer rumors
If you don’t wanna be hungry then just get more money bro
So how many rings does Tobias have and how many times has he been traded?
No issues with what Tobias said …….. he’s basically telling Ben to live up to his massive potential and be dominant.
They win or at least come close, they’ll be probably safe from any trade conversation – even with that Sword of Morey hanging close by.
With Simmons it’s massive expectations, not massive potential.
It’s like saying he is better than Westbrook. What’s the big deal?
Ben is like a Top-25 player this year, some regression. If the Sixers have a chance to get a Top-10 or even Top-15 player, not on a 1 yr deal and a non-center. They will explore the upgrade. Facts.
Now they will probably make a trade and they’ve got 32M if salary I’d part with to do so.
I don’t see how they get a Bradley Beal without including Simmons. I can see how they get a Zach LaVine, Victor Oladipo, Evan Fournier, or Buddy Hield without giving up anything but picks and filler contracts. That would the the significant positional upgrade they need. And Ben can rest at ease knowing he wont be involved in any of those deals.
But the best way to not get traded is what Lonzo Ball tries to do. Get injured before the deadline.
I’d be interested to see LaVine on a playoff team. Looked at his stats versus Beal over the weekend. They’re really *almost* comparable. Granted this is LaVine’s best year, but he’s also 2 years younger than BB
I’ve been saying he should be targeted for 2 years. They’ve always lacked natural bucket getter. It was the reason the drafted Fultz, to be that D Wade combo guard. Just didnt work out, kid was a clown. LaVine has improved his shooting, and his contract works.
Do we all know this is Bens 4th yr. With a virus yr last yr. KD had to run to GS to win at 28. Now he goes to prove he can win on his own. Oh no wait let’s get Ky and Harden freak that . Bens talent is as a 2way player. He plays to win and it’s up to coaching to use him right. Fans are to quick to judge. And only remember yesterday. Sixers are in much better position this yr and should make moves by TD. They got the MVP in Embiid. They lost to Raptors on a bounce.
