Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter will undergo a lateral meniscus arthroscopic debridement procedure, the team announced on social media. The surgery is scheduled for Monday in Atlanta.
Hunter, the No. 4 pick in 2019, has missed the last four games due to right knee discomfort caused by wear and tear. An update will be provided on his status in approximately two weeks, the team said.
Atlanta has started the season with a 11-12 record. The 23-year-old Hunter has appeared in 18 contests, averaging 17.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 32.2 minutes per game. He’s shot 51% from the floor and 37% from deep during those games, starting in every outing.
The Hawks are already playing without shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, who suffered an avulsion fracture in his right knee last month.
Not a good sign for his future if he already has “wear and tear” at age 23. Knees (and other joints) don’t tend to get better as you age.
Could be nothing, but for me it would be at least a warning sign.
If he takes a glucosamine chew every day it could potentially be beneficial for his joint health.
That’s good advice for us all.
Probably should drink ensure every morning too.
So we have a preference for a joint medicine and its form… but no estimate of how long he will be out.
It’s a muscle injury. He’ll be ok. This yr is jinx for NBA. He was well thus yr too.
@x%sure… I would say 4 weeks max, as you can see by the update in 2 weeks time, this things are very easy with great results, I would be very surprised if it goes beyond 4 weeks, unless some complications develop with his rehab, of course.
You never want to lose meniscus, but if it can’t be repaired, then this is the remedy. His recovery time (this time) should be around what Zion’s was (same injury and same treatment / surgery). 6-8 weeks, best case – ? I forget. It wasn’t initially estimated to be much more than that.
I suppose any post mentioning Bogdan will get tagged with the Bucks this year?
