FEBRUARY 1: Herro is available to play on Monday night, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel tweets.
JANUARY 31: Starting Heat point guard Tyler Herro has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols for the novel coronavirus, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel (Twitter link). We relayed earlier today that Herro discovered that his roommate tested positive for COVID-19 during halftime of the Heat’s 105-104 victory over the Kings last night.
Herro is missing practice with the team today and is questionable for tomorrow’s game against the Hornets.
No other Heat players have entered league COVID-19 protocols, Winderman notes, which would suggest that contact tracing has not pointed to teammates needing to quarantine at this juncture. If a contact tracing investigation determines that a player was in close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus, he is typically required to isolate and test negative for a week before returning to his club.
The Heat have been beset by a number of coronavirus-related absences in recent weeks. Herro’s All-Star teammate Jimmy Butler finally returned to the club last night after missing 10 games due to COVID-19 protocols. He scored 30 points in the win.
This dude plays in the NBA and still has to have a roommate? I’m sure he can afford his own place.
Tons of pro athletes don’t live in the city they play in and are barely in need of a place because they’re on the road so much. They usually have a friend or teammate sharing a 2-4 BR so they can ride to work together etc. This is true of almost all pro athletes in all sports.
Yeah its wild he doesnt just buy a place. Florida real estate is cheap compared to other parts of the country. If nothing else it’s an investment…a smart financial move.
Roommate as in like female? Or as in Bro? Just a story you don’t get from a lot of NBA players.
Incorrect, many pro athletes live like this. If they don’t buy a house in the city they live in, the team rents a lot of houses, usually close together, so the players can ride to work together (some have team buses that stop off outside).
Its weird how we all get stats and dumb “hot takes” shoved down our throats 24-7 but there actually isn’t a lot out there about what the actual day-to-day of an NBA player looks like, or any American pro athlete in general. They are barely home during the season, so it doesn’t make sense to get a full house to themselves.
Idk I wish itd explain. “Roommate” is such a vague term. If it’s another player, say so. Otherwise i imagine him living w friends from college playing xbox all night lol.
Seriously tho if it’s not another player, whoever this roommate is needs to get on the same page covid-wise. They cant be out partying, putting Herro in danger of health or missing games. Herro also needs to take some responsibility and make sure he is surrounding himself w people who have his best interests in mind. Not lowkey sus randoms…
True, to me “roommate” suggests some guy he stays up all night with smoking a bong and playing video games.
I mean, he is like 20 years old, he probably does sit up with his roomie smoking a bong and playing video games.
Self proclaimed top 3 commenter. Is that you Sasha Vujacic?
Indiana Pacers are probably tired from all the celebrating they have done everytime the league throws another key Heat player into safety protocols.
ikr.
