Knicks center Mitchell Robinson suffered a fractured right hand during the team’s game against Washington on Friday, the team’s PR department tweets.
Robinson apparently suffered the injury while setting a screen. He was enjoying a big game prior to the injury, scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in just 20 minutes. He came into the night averaging 8.2 PPG, 8.4 RPG and 1.6 BPG in 29.2 MPG.
The 2018 second-round pick is one of the lowest-paid starters in the league at $1.66MM. The team holds a $1.82MM option on his contract for next season.
With Robinson sidelined, Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson will likely share the center spot. New York has a full roster and would have to make room to add another big man.
He was having his best game too. Upsetting. Let’s go Nerlens Noel.
Time to experiment with Obi as a small ball 5
Thats so sad, guys
Not necessarily season ending. Find out tomorrow.
Not cool ….. this is worst injury season ever.
It wasn’t a big hit. X-rays revealed a fracture is all they say. Can’t find no updates. I guess tmrw we’ll know more. Well this could be 6-10 wks. Not making a playoff run without Mitch. I hope they don’t panic and do something crazy. Rebuild rebuild Thibs.
Has Nerlens been able to stay healthy enough to play more than 2 games in a row? Always sitting out.
That’s too bad. I guess they will bring Skai Labissiere from the G League. Hopefully Iggy gets some much needed playing time if Randle plays more at the 5
Sometimes bad news is good
Knicks would have a better draft pick
Knicks will still be a playoff team. Thibs has a saying from his Bulls days and being ravaged by injury ….. “We Got Enough!”
I was hoping to move Noel to a contender. Plenty need help a D big for playoffs. Thank god it’s not serious. Knicks should look at Bamba.
Except the Bulls had Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Jimmy Butler.
In the playoffs they got hurt and were down Rose and many times one or two of the other guys. Thibs standard response…… “We Got Enough”. Typically he took the scraps he was left win and still won!
Hurry back Mitch. Great job on the Gibson signing. Thibs has “enough” NY will still bring it!
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is available why don’t we contact him it wouldn’t hurt tibs know he would fit into what where doing would make him into something sweet while this player still has something to offer young strong and talented
Disabled players exception need
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson
Young strong talented And teachable
Fits to the direction where knicks heading ecf
Pilly year maybe disappointment for Giannini this year make him demand trade to knicks
Actually is kind of surprising no team (Nets, Warriors…) has claimed RHJ yet. He played reasonably good with the Wolves during the preseason.
