Warriors rookie big man James Wiseman will be out at least a week due to a sprained left wrist, the team’s PR department tweets.
The second overall pick of the draft suffered the injury during Saturday night’s win over the Pistons. He’ll be re-evaluated in 7-10 days.
Wiseman is averaging 12.2 PPG, 6.1 RPG and 1.3 BPG in 21.o MPG. He’s started 16 of Golden State’s 20 games. He scored a season-high 25 points against Minnesota on Wednesday.
Kevon Looney was recently moved into the starting five ahead of Wiseman. Eric Paschall should also see an increase in playing time with Wiseman sidelined.
Kevin Looney big minutes for a week? Cross your fingers!
Paschall is awesome, but he & Oubre are having a hard time finding their niche in GS. GS has considered dealing these guys at some point you’d think.
Paschall is a great bench piece and Kelly Oubre is currently just the filler for Klay Thompson. I could actually see the Warriors being more than competitive in the Western Conference next year if they’re fully healthy and find a way to retain Oubre as a 6th.
No reason to assume no injuries… or no covid-based absences.
They need depth.
Glad that was only a sprained wrist … it looked worse than it did on TV
We were playing “Small Ball” when Wiseman was on the Bench. Guess it will be down-graded to “Midget Ball” now.
Will Warriors finally Sign another Big Man now? Thon Maker, Tyler Zeller, John Henson, and Dewayne Dedmon are still on the Free Agent market. Heck I’d even take Ekpe Udoh or Jordan Bell back.
And no Steve Kerr, Juan Toscano-Anderson does not qualify as a Big Man. He’s barely 6-foot-7.
Jordan Bell isn’t an NBA player. Paschall and Green play up in size. They will win plenty without Wiseman. You forget: they have Steph Curry!
Very concerned about giving up 140+ Points per night now. We’ve seen what has happened to the Nets recently after they traded away their Center Jarrett Allen.
Teams won’t have to take as many Outside jump shots against us now knowing we have no 7 Foot rim protector. Hopefully the Celtics aren’t practicing their Layups in our paint tomorrow night.
Also, Paschall and Draymond have been weak on the boards this year. We could be out-rebounded by double in our next 5 games.
yup thats whut happens when ur teams got a bunch of 6 foot 6 guys. better get looney prepared to lay 30+ mins lol.
Couldn’t agrre more about Paschall and Green..those guys will get out rebounded every night..The dubs championship teams had true centers like Bogut, McGee, Jermaine O’Neal, Zaza, Elzeli etc..that 7 ft presence is crucial to both Defense and Rebounding..Dubs need to sign a true center..definitely missing Marquese Chriss..
welp, even worse for ur warriors, looney gets injured barely in the second quarter. now u only got paschall , green, and two way player: toscano anderson
they’re not signing another big prob cuz they’re either too lazy to use the DPE from Klay’s injury and they’re doing well with wisemen and looney but didnt expect wisemen to get injured as well.
JTA is an inch shorter than Jordan Bell and plays with a lot of energy. However, Dedmon would be ideal. I was even hoping Wilson Chandler would be an off-season pickup but he chose to play in China instead. Despite mostly playing PF/SF, at 6’9, he’d be a big for this team lol. Kyle O’Quin is around if I’m not mistaken. And if I’m going with former Knicks, might as well check on 35yo Joakim Noah, think he’s good for 4-8 minutes a night? Lol too bad Tyson Chandler is probably done for real this time.
chandler rescinded from playing in china in order to get another nba opportunity. oh yea noah but the former DPOY decided to retire i think.
Where all those warriors stans at barely hanging on to 8th seed? “GuRrAnTeD tOp 3 SeEd” “God curry is greater than mj” hahahahaha
“Wiseman rests better than any other rookie”
Yes, he is. Still. GSW beat the Lakers and Clippers already this year, youre so shook you coward LOL
Nobody takes you seriously, McFly.
Big stat here is 21 mins. A real rotation player is 26mins and over. We’ve know since beginning of yr Warriors need a Center. So they don’t have to depend on a 19 yr old. So they can ease him in to major role. There has never been a 19 yr old savior in NBA not Bron not Zion not Moses. The only one was a 20 yr old Dr J in ABA. He came in an took over league. But it was the ABA. Watching Warriors with all injuries and setbacks. Seems to me they are playing for next yr. They can in believing they had a shot to contend. Klay, Green, all injuries and protocols. Basically new team and chemistry. Is not as easy to put together as one thinks. Seems they are just feeling their way thru. To change up team and redo it for when Klay comes back. Even as 7-10 seed they will have a nice pick. Too bad OKC gets it though. They do have Minnys 1st rd and 2nd rd picks. So they could be just loading up and analyzing team for next yrs run. That Minny pick could be a top 5. At least a top 10. And that means a very nice player in draft. Or could be used in a trade.
To add with the MIN pick(Top 3 protected), there’s our own 1st this year as well, which has Top 20 protections on. There’s a chance we can have two top 12 picks, and really this is the first time(Non including Wiseman ofc) since HB we’re picking higher than 28. There isn’t a center as good as wiseman in this draft, however there are a few wings better than Anthony Edwards. Aside from KD, the prototypical SF, big wing, Tatum/Bron/Kawhi/PG13/Butler type has eluded them. Perhaps this is the draft they nab one of those types of forwards to go with a defensive minded, 2-way Iggy-esque wing. 5 years from now it’s not too hard to imagine Steph and Klay as rich man’s Redick and Korver, in catch & shoot roles while our own version of a Tatum/Butler/Kawhi style player running with Wiseman.
Stranger things have happened! …haha I can dream, can’t I?
Wiseman needs to get his weight up. With his size there’s no reason he can’t pull down 10 rebounds a night at least. Someone on the team needs to learn how to rebound if he’s not because its killing the team
