The Sixers are in the market for a point guard, with the Pistons’ Delon Wright and Thunder‘s George Hill among the players the team has inquired about, Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report tweets.
The current options behind Ben Simmons include combo guards Shake Milton (currently dealing with an ankle sprain) and rookie Tyrese Maxey. Another point guard option would allow the team to have multiple ball-handlers on the floor for extended stretches.
Wright has played well for the rebuilding Pistons, who acquired him in a trade with Dallas during the offseason. He began the season as their starting shooting guard, then slid over to the point when rookie Killian Hayes injured his hip. Wright is averaging 10.4 PPG, 4.9 APG, 4.7 RPG and 1.4 SPG in 29.1 MPG. He’s making $9MM this season and $8.5MM next season in the final year of his contract.
Philadelphia’s interest in Hill is a little more surprising, considering that he’s expected to miss at least the remainder of this month after undergoing a surgical procedure on his right thumb. He’s started 14 games this season for the Thunder, averaging 11.8 PPG and 3.1 APG. What would make Hill more attractive from a trading standpoint is that his $10MM salary for next season is only guaranteed for approximately $1.28MM.
come on Doc… Take your kid please… He’s lost without ya.
Has nothing to do with being on a team with 68 point guards though
Wonder what Detroit could get for Wright
2nd round pick
Wright is going to cost more than a 2nd. We’re talking a 1st, multiple 2nds or Maxey.
You have lost it if you believe Maxey would be even considered by the 6ers in that deal
I don’t really think they would, just wishful thinking…
I do think he’ll cost more than a 2nd though….
Not if you guys really want an asset for him. Nobody is giving up a first for him
They should’ve got D. Rose.
Kyle Lowry from the raptors
Only works if he is bought out, which is unlikely. Sixers would have to break up the core to match salaries for Lowry
have you heard about elfrid payton?? lol
I hope Knicks can offer Payton and Frank NT
Frank NT is a tremendous “future talent” but does not fit Knicks
Since Maxey has no PT,
Payton and Second for Maxey would be good for Knicks
Lol
A rookie struggling to find playing time on a title contender isnt that much of a surprise. That trade is awful
Elbrick*
No need to trade him for a second route pick. They should hold him until another team gets desperate.
Yup Payton can help them. Backup PG …..
I’d love to get Morris back from Clippers.
Morris n Williams >>for>> Randle n Payton.
Randle… where his name come from?? Why not keep him with this rebuild…
Grant Hill, Austin Rivers, Kyle Lowry that’s should be their target list.
I’d do Rivers for Ferguson or Hill for Thybulle and Bradley
No to Thubulle, not trading him without a darn good return
I’d take George Hill. Great leader and a guy made for the playoffs. Bucks are really missing him right now. Hill is an excellent shooter and doesn’t need the ball all the time
On a totally different note, I’m so happy with the Sixers performance today. Simmons with 42-12-9 and 19 in the first quarter.
We came up just short against the Jazz who are really inform and playing well together. We were without Embiid and against Gobert and Mitchell I was worried.
I knew this year we were playing well and Joel in particular has looked amazing but I always questioned who is going to step up if he goes out? I also questioned Simmons ability to step up on offence and carry the load more. However today I was shown Simmons can step up if and when it’s needed, same goes for Tobias who’s been great this season.
I still think he need a combo forward than can add something off the bench like what Kuzma does for the Lakers. Mike Scott currently plays that role for us but he isn’t good enough. I’d also like it if Danny Green could step up a little more. Just stand in the corner in practice and train that 1 shot cause your a liability everywhere else. I’d be happier if you just corner camped and were hitting them at 40-50%. I don’t know if we need another point guard cause who would lose minutes? Maxey, Milton ? Both those guys have been good. I would mind some more defence and leadership like Grant Hill but I wouldn’t call it a need. Alternatively I wouldn’t mind a bigger name like Kyle Lowry coming in and Simmons moving to the 3 spot and dropping/trading Green, but I’m unsure Simmons wants to move from the 1
Grant Hill?
George sorry
Sixers Seeking Point Guard Depth
These Sixers Knuckleheads….SMH
Dennis Smith Jr was available and what do they do? Get sloppy seconds from the Pistons?
Possibly Sloppy seconds
Lol DSJ…come on guy. The Sixers want someone who can actually contribute
You just don’t know what is good, Fox
JJ Barrea is in spain he could be a good backup and a good lockeroom presence with championship experience.
Couple 10 day contracts just go down the line with Mudiay, Knight, and Napier. Get them all on two 10 days, you got 2 months of depth right there.
