Unlike some other probable All-Stars who have expressed reluctance about playing in a potential March 7 All-Star Game in Atlanta, Hawks point guard Trae Young has said he would relish the opportunity to participate if he earns a second straight All-Star berth, according to Sarah K. Spencer of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“I understand both sides,” said Young, who is averaging 26.7 PPG, 9.2 APG, and 4.0 RPG for the 11-12 Hawks. “Obviously, it’s in Atlanta, I’d love to be a part of it, if there is a game.”
There’s more out of the Southeast Division:
- Magic assistant general manager Matt Lloyd spoke with Josh Robbins of The Athletic about how the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Orlando’s scouting process. “We’ve gotten to the point with technology where we have so much to study,” Lloyd acknowledged. “Every game is on film… But there is still an advantage of being able to see how prospects look in person. There’s always going to be that one element of being in an arena or in a gym and being able to size players up to get some sort of sense of their real physicality, their size, their length and how fast they are.”
- The Wizards have been performing better when $41.4MM point guard Russell Westbrook sits, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic. In a somewhat alarming trend, Washington is 4-3 without Westbrook and 2-12 with him this season. Washington is 7.7 points per 100 possessions worse when Westbrook plays for the club this year.
- Hornets center Bismack Biyombo is relishing his role as a mentor with a scrappy Charlotte team, according to Kurt Helin of NBC Sports. Biyombo has become a key advisor to rookie guard LaMelo Ball, the No. 3 pick in the 2020 draft. “I was telling LaMelo when I first got to the league I was his age because I came from overseas as well,” Biyombo said. “The transition, how far you grow from playing overseas versus when you see kids who come out of college, it’s totally two different mindsets.”
Hard to bench $40 million. I’m not a fan, but its hard to believe the Wizards are a better team without him. Maybe so.
Ish Smith 1.1 Turnovers, 22mpg
Russell Westbrook 4.9 Turnovers, 32mpg
The numbers say Washington is better with Russ on the bench
Ish is also playing against 2nd and 3rd rotation guys. Russ hasn’t been great, but he hasn’t been awful either.
It’s very unlikely and would be very hard to do but any chance Russell Westbrook gets traded again.
Some possible ideas:
1. Russ, Troy Brown JR and a first for Otto Porter and Thad Young
2. Russ, Bertans and 2 firsts for Mike Conley and Bogdanovic
3. Russ and Jerome Robinson for Blake Griffin and Delon Wright
4. Russ and a first for Al Horford and George Hill
First and Second deal, Wizards get a back a huge expiring deal and tell Brad Beal to pick a FA they will go after.
Third deal doesn’t exactly do much but could help. Wright is a decent PG and plays good defence, maybe Blake plays the 5 with Hachimura the 4 with Bryant out injured.
Last deal, Russ returns home cause no one wants him and Wizards get a replacement centre for Bryant and a replacement point guard
If it’s Washington’s unprotected first in 21….I could see it….but doubt Presti would do it since Russ likely wouldn’t be thrilled with it and it would hurt the team chemistry they’re trying to build with the young players.
Doubt Russ would ever play much here, we’d be trying to flip him ASAP. We have SGA and Russ would come off the bench which I’m SURE he’d love.
The Jazz would hang up on that offer and block the wiz’s number.
Y u think that? Yes Russ hasn’t been good for 1-1/2 seasons. But, Bertans is the type of stretch big they need. And Conley has the lingering hammy issues. Plus 2 firsts to give up Bogdanovic. If they hung up and blocked the Wiz number they’d b dumb.
Russ is a horrible fit for the Jazz system. Conley is exactly the dude they want next to Mitchell. They’re 20-5. They’re competing for a title, not taking a package for a rebuild. The Jazz aren’t an organization who trades from their stars while they’re succeeding.
Jazz might be contending and trying to win and he’s they have a great record but record is overrated. End of the day they aren’t getting past the clippers or Lakers in the west
Wow that’s not a good stat. They should move him to NO. Adams, Lonzo, future #1 . “Big Nola3”
Ingram — Zion — Westbrook
No way NOLA is dumb enough to do that deal. No way any other NBA team is dumb enough to deal for Westbrook. The worst contract in the league by quite a significant margin, and arguably the worst player out of all the players on terrible contracts
Kevin love says hi….at least Russ plays.
And I hope the first rounder comes from the wizards in your Szenario. Ball, Adams are important players for many nba teams. And Westbrook is a to high risk with this contract.
Trade Russ to the Celtics for Nesmith.
Tomorrow.
Ice Trae is a real star wanting to play the ASG, guy is a legend… many vet stars can learn a lot about his enthusiasm for the game & the fans!
Also the ASG is vital for players earnings, obviously don’t affect the superstars that are crying about it, but it really is vital for the big majority of players to get their money, they should try to be less selfish & think of their colleagues!
If they don’t wanna play, great, turn down the nomination & don’t be an All-Star this year, if they don’t care, do it properly!
So forget about the fact they got very little time off and play a meaningless game that they said wouldn’t happen at first and decided to throw in. Majority of the All Stars were in that bubble. Guys like Trae had a lot of rest and I’m sure r ready to play… So he’s a legend because he wants to play in his home stadium in his 3rd season in the NBA after sitting at home because his team was bad last year and not being in the bubble. Sorry but LEGENDS win games and get there teams to the playoffs.
If you go a little past your dislike for Trae, the comment referring to him as a “legend”was referring to his passion for the game, not about a statline.Trae loves the game,it was a positive outlook, and you swoop in and trash a pretty classy comment about his character.Relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy what we all have which is another day to be alive, which I myself am truly grateful for.
It doesn’t look like NO is going to keep Ball. They have not offered contract. Which means he’ll be a RFA. He wants to get paid. With Kyra and Bledsoe. Lonzo is gone IMO. So in all likelihood he will be traded or let go. Westbrook a vet star would only help Ingram n Zion. Cause he’d have a lot to prove. Adams is what ? A late pick is what. That’s Westbrook for nothing. I take that chance. Ball has lost his appeal around league. No one is going to pay him big money. He’s not earning his 11.3 mill now. Westbrook numbers are more than Adams and Lonzo combined lol.
