While it may be tempting to continue revamping their roster around cornerstone players Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram, the Pelicans have now won six of eight games and no longer look like a team on the verge of a fire sale, writes Scott Kushner of NOLA.com.
“I said to guys when all that was going on that it’s natural,” Pelicans head coach Stan Van Gundy said. “You’re losing games so people are going to say, ‘Oh shoot, they’re going to blow it up.’ And the rumors are going to start. If we were winning then, like we have in the last seven, then the rumors go away. Because people will think you are happy with your team.”
Multiple reports in late January indicated that the Pelicans were exploring the possibility of moving Lonzo Ball, J.J. Redick, and/or Eric Bledsoe. Those rumors have died down as of late, though that doesn’t mean those players are off the trade block, as Kushner notes. This season’s trade deadline is still six weeks away, so there’s plenty of time for New Orleans to consider whether dealing one or more of those veteran guards makes sense.
Here’s more from around the Southwest:
- The Pelicans have transferred two-way player Naji Marshall to the Erie BayHawks, the team announced today (via Twitter). Marshall will join fellow two-way player Will Magnay on New Orleans’ G League squad.
- A move from power forward to center and an adjustment to longer stretches of playing time have Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis enjoying his best run of the season recently, as Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News details.
- Following a seven-game winning streak, the Grizzlies have lost four straight, but there’s no reason to panic, according to Mark Giannotto of The Memphis Commercial Appeal, who says the team simply needs to get healthier. With Jaren Jackson Jr., Brandon Clarke, De’Anthony Melton, and Justise Winslow out, Memphis is missing four of the top eight players in its ideal rotation, Giannotto adds.
If Redick can shoot 45% from 3 this season, then Nets can become the serious defensive team

Dallas needs another playmaker. Lonzo Ball (even though i really dislike him) would be a good fit. And zach lavine as well. Dallas runs a lot of pick and rolls and so does zach lavine. I think john collins would also be a good fit for this squad
From what I read
Asking price for Oladipo is
Herro or Michale Porter Jr and a future First
Add salary
From reporters
Warriors get Oladipo
Rockets get Oubre and Wolves 2021 First
Salary filler
What I mean is
Asking price is not reasonable
You are terrible at trying to write haikus.
If anyone is going to give up a quality player to take Oubre off the Warriors hands, that price is extremely reasonable. The Rockets would probably ask for even more than that for Oladipo.
I believe they cleared a lot of cap rm for Giannis so they could use some of that in the summer on guys rather than trade during the season
Pelicans are winning but haven’t exactly been facing top tier competition. Still think they should consider some moves before TD. Seems like there is interest in Ball and his stock only going up. Sell high boys! I like him but he’s not consistent. Maybe swap for Rozier? (Dk how the salaries look off top of my head)
Ball 11 Roz-19
Adding Melli or Hayes makes it work but 2 Balls doesnt seem ideal for either-
Perhaps a 3 team trade
Hayes to Cha
Rozier Pelicans
Ball- Mystery team
Ball team kicks in rest of salary filler (hopefully expiring) +picks to both teams to make it fly for everyone-
. Doesnt seem Pelicans like Hayes that much and he will never be much more than “break glass if needed ” currently…… Cha would probably like to get outta Roziers next year to go more “forward” hunting with the cash…Hayes fits in well there, good shuffle of Roz for them value wise
Bulls perhaps?
I cant say I have a single clue what CHI plan is but if you want to include them perhaps Cha takes Thad young to match salaries and really go for it – They might need to include a pick somewhere in that but I like the idea of getting 2 bigs for an excess guard at this point for them if they could swing it
