Suns small forward Mikal Bridges is making the case for an offseason extension with his play this season, Michael Pina of Sports Illustrated contends. A versatile two-way wing, Bridges has improved his scoring output while frequently guarding the best perimeter player on the opposing club.
Bridges described his own prep process for the All-Stars he has had to defend, ranging from Kawhi Leonard to Damian Lillard. “You just gotta know your opponent, lock into the film, their tendencies, and get ready, man,” Bridges said.
There’s more out of the West:
- During this young season, Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis has yet to recapture the tantalizing play he flashed during the 2019/20 season, his first full year in Dallas, per Drew Maresca of Basketball Insiders. Maresca notes that Porzingis, who rejoined the Mavs last month after an offseason knee surgery, has not been able to replicate the long-range shooting touch he exhibited last season.
- The Warriors could provide an appealing trade package in a hypothetical deal with the Wizards for Bradley Beal. In a deal that would probably have to include both 2020 lottery pick James Wiseman and the Timberwolves’ top-3 protected 2021 draft selection, the Warriors would be perhaps sacrificing their future for their present. The big question, were a trade to happen, is how long Golden State star guard Stephen Curry can remain a core part of a title club, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
- Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert recently sat down for an extensive interview with Sam Amick of The Athletic, addressing the Jazz’s hot start to the 2020/21 season, his relationship with All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, his relationship with former Jazz star center Mark Eaton, and a host of other topics. Utah, currently the No. 1 seed in the West, is 9-1 in its last 10 contests and 16-5 overall. “We all realize that winning a championship would be something that’s never been done before in this franchise, so we all realize that if we all give a little more of ourselves to the team and we all sacrifice a little more, we have a chance to hopefully be in a position to accomplish that,” Gobert said.
In a move that is thought by many to be laying the ground work for a potential deal to acquire the Wizard’s Bradley Beal, the Memphis Grizzlies have announced that with the cooperation of the City of Memphis the team has successfully lobbied for the official name change of the iconic street name to none other than ………………..
BEAL STREET !!!
The dumb runs deep…
Seriously
I want the 3 seconds it took to read that back
Suns note
Kardashanes Jenners plan to replace Kenya West with Devin Booker
Big reach man
It’s funny watching some of these hypothetical trades, like so many of the ridiculous ones for Harden before he went to Brooklyn. Beal is 4 years younger, so the Wizards asking price is probably a lot higher than some people think. Any offer made for him will likely have to be similar to what the Nets gave up to get their guy.
Quality of picks means more than # of picks. Nets three picks only the last one might be in teens. Others are 25-30, even Bucks pick. Not the haul you think.
In the poll a few days ago I voted that he’s likely to stay put lol. I don’t think anyone’s offering Sheppard and WAS enough to give him up
I think it’s safe to say the Knicks avoided a big fiasco by trading Kristaps and having to worry about his injury prone self clogging up Cap space
Your nuts if you give up Wiseman. You give all that up just how do you win with Beal. Never give up Wiseman, never. Gotta be Wiggins players and the two picks. That’s enough. Truth is at this point might be better to keep the picks and load up for next yr. A top 10 pick is a very nice player. A top 5 pick and you have another star at SF or PF.
KP needs to gain 40 LBs. And they need a physical big next to him. Drummond gets bought out they should jump on that.
Wiggins needs to stay. They’ve said that he fits with the team and is potentially a part of their future. They wouldn’t give him or Wiseman up. Steph made sure they picked Wiseman and would make sure they keep him
They would absolutely give up Wiggins. They’re just putting him in his most successful scenarios. They’re maximizing his talent. They would drop him like a bad habit if given the opportunity.
His shot is too flat, he’s not compatible with an All-Star starting lineup and he’s the best second unit guy on the floor when he plays off role players, and against the role players on the other team. The Warriors are just good at that kind of tkind- making decent players look better and maximizing the guy’s skills. This is the best Wiggins will ever ever look.
Problem with all these trades is it will not make the warriors a top team. Just adding Beal and subtracting other players do not make them a dominant team. Best just wait until Thompson is back next year. That would be a solid starting 5 that could compete with any team in the NBA. The cost for Beal is higher than having him on the team.
I think they would give up both Wiseman and definitely Wiggins for the right guy
I’m skeptical management makes an all in move this season tho, I think they wait until next season when Klay is back and they have a better handle on what a Steph/Klay/Wiggins/Dray/Wise team really looks like
Wiseman will be a top 10 player in the NBA in 2 years. He is only 19 and just learning how to play but shows a good outside shot for a big man. Once he learns the defense rotations and play more games with Curry he will dominate.
In 2 years??? That’s a bold prediction
Kristaps showed life tonight! He played with some fire, hit some shots.
Wiseman and a top pick for a player who would cause someone of the historic backcourt to play out of position and oh, will be 28 this year.
Better off letting Wiseman and whatever picks develop along slow and supplement the aging core.
I’m not sure why Washington wouldn’t want both of Warriors first round picks? The Timberwolves pick is protected (1-3) and the way the Timberwolves are playing it may end up being worth nothing if they finish in the bottom three.
It won’t be nothing. It’s unprotected the next year.
Wiseman and Wiggins are going nowhere. As I stated above, Steph made sure Wiseman was picked by GSW. He would not let Wiseman, yes I know he’s a player but he is basically another owner, leave. Steph has a say in the moves made and really likes Wiseman. Steph will be around for awhile so I say let Wiseman and Mannion develop, and let Wiggins find his traction and there are more titles in their future.
SFGF, you always nail it. I’ll add this and please comment: Oubre is traded at deadline for picks and/or shooter (s). That will lower Lacobs tax penalty. Warriors will likely not make playoffs but thats ok cuz then the Thunder will not get gsws number one, and better yet it could be a lottery pick. And if we really get lucky the twolves will end up with the 4th pick. One can dream
I think you’re right. Oubre is traded. I can’t say for what but he is in the final year of his deal and he hasn’t been consistent at all.
In terms of development age, Smiley is really young. He just needs more time in Santa Cruz. And the word from Australia is that Jessup developing nicely.
f*ck no why would anyone trade wisemen for beal????? hes a top canidate for RPOY. curry, thompson, and beal wont fit together especially if thompson and beal r gunna fight over shooting threes.
They would ABSOLUTELY trade Weissman PLUS first round picks for Bradley Beal. One is potential 3 years down the road, one is right now and for the next four years.
Can you imagine, Championship contenders for the next four years? They would gladly give that up promising, potentially excellence rookie Center that will take a minimum three years to be great.
Here’s the thing. We’ve been talking Bradley Beal trade for 3 years and he’s never been available and he’s not available now.
Yeah, reportedly, Beal doesn’t want to be traded and the Wizards don’t want to trade him. He isn’t likely going anywhere this season, if ever. One of the articles I read stated that he likes the idea of spending his career with one organization, for what that is worth. It may be accurate if he doesn’t want to be traded by now.
@Gary
Please understand the full situation. Wiseman was just drafted No.2 OVERALL because Stephen Curry, one of the greatest shooters basketball has ever seen, has seen this guy play personally and saw something he REALLY likes. Wiseman, according to the Warriors as a whole and according to Steph, is a huge part of the Warriors future. No matter what trade proposal you, any other poster, or another team comes up with, Wiseman will not be traded. He is 19 and still learning, and can shoot better than most centers in the NBA, even as tall as he is. He already has posted 20 points in multiple games and is learning from some of the best teachers basketball can offer.
Pete, I agree with what you’re saying but if the team can grab someone like Bradley Beal this week or this month, you absolutely include James Wiseman who is potentially three years down the road a top 10 player.
Curry is 32 now so that makes him 35 in 3 years. I don’t think you wait that long for Wiseman if you can get a super stud now. Yes he’s awesome and yes he will be great but we’re not guaranteed tomorrow and you go for it now if you can. But I like everything you say. Good stuff.
The only way GSW should do something like this is if they can get rid of both Wiggins and Draymond.
I didn’t realize how BAD Wiggins was on advanced metrics for offense. You’d expect defense is his weakness but a dude has never been above 107 for ORtg.
You can’t use DLo to compare to Beal – Beal >>> DLo.
Will have to be a 4-team deal. Washington shouldn’t want Wiggins/Draymond.
Something like…
Wash > Wiseman, Wolves 1st, Fournier
GSW > Beal, Myles Turner, Aminu
Magic > Wiggins, 2021 Denver 2nd, 2022 Raptors 2nd
Pacers > Draymond, GSW 2021 2nd, GSW 2022 Unprotected 1st
Lot of moving parts but that’s what it would probably take – multi-team, multiple picks going out the door, and dumping Wiggins and Draymond.
Warriors would be a worse team after that type of trade.
IDK…17 games in Draymond’s PER is 7.3
That’s not a good sign for an undersized big man coming off a few injuries who just turned 30
Draymond is not a offensive player he is mainly defensive and assist player. Warriors need to be patient and wait until Thompson is back. Green is also playing center which he is undersized at. Once Wiseman has the rotations down on defense Green will dominate on the defensive end.
I’m well aware he’s a defensive centric player.
But he’s shooting 34% from the floor and 19% from 3. That matters
It also matters that as his athleticism declines (as it does for everyone in their 30s) his defensive capabilities will also – ESPECIALLY in this era where defense is so predicated on quick rotations
Compound those together and it’s an issue
If Beal wanted to win you’d think he would’ve requested a trade by now. He seems happy. I doubt he gets traded unless someone overwhelms the Wizards with an incredible trade offer.
Happy to hear the mindset of the Utah Jazz roster has been more focused and cohesive this year. They had the talent last year, but not the health or consistency.
This year they find ways to win, even if they’re not blowing out the other team.
The loss to Denver I attribute Donovan maybe coming back a game too early. Would’ve been better to come back against the Pistons. Against Denver it seemed like everyone relaxed too much thinking Donovan would light them up. He was a bit too rusty to do that. Plus, Denver was motivated after the Jazz beat them 2 weeks before in Denver.
Overall, I think everyone can sense there’s something special about this team this year. Everything about their offense and defense is much more polished and ready than last year. Add a finally healthy Bogey and Donovan back… Look out! Too hot for the hot tub!
Just another news outlet downplaying the Jazz…
They’re #1 in the league right now. Not just the West.
Be happy that other teams are over looking them right now. Only reason media is not talking them up is because of location. Utah is a very small media area. I would rate Utah #1 right now in the NBA but 1 injury can change the whole thing.
1 Thing that probably does need to be said is that GSW front office has been able to pull off some pretty amazing shizzz via trades the past decade. Things you didnt think possible at the time-
I really thought they were going to pull a big punch earlier this year, Perhaps Klay changed the route, perhaps its at this trade deadline, perhaps its in the offseason but I just cant see this team going “young/not matured enough” into the 22 season- The punch is in there somewhere still
Utah better hope that history doesn’t repeat itself this season.
Even though they’re tied with the Clippers for first place at 16-5, they started equally hot last year at 32-13 before dropping 15 of their final 27 games.
Draymond had a very unique stat-line tonight:
15 assists, 6 steals, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Excellent.
But he also had 7 turnovers, 5 fouls, and just 2 points. Not so good.
lmao, who cares if he gets a ton of TOs? harden and lebron get as many when they have big nights as well. plus, hes 6’6 and had to play small ball 5 against KP
