New Raptors shooting guard Rodney Hood is hoping to revive his career with Toronto, as Steven Loung of Sportsnet details. Hood has struggled to establish consistency since returning from a torn left Achilles tendon in December.
“Yeah, it’s been tough this year just trying to work my way back and get healthier,” Hood said as he took stock of his addition to the Raptors. “Obviously this is another stepping stone to get traded but I feel myself getting healthier, I feel like towards the end of the season I’ll be a little more back to myself but I’ve got to take time and that’s been the frustrating part about it, but I’m excited about where I’m headed.”
The Raptors have a $10.8MM team option on Hood, and while it seems likely to be turned down, his performance in Tampa down the home stretch of the season could make the team think twice.
There’s more out of the Atlantic Division:
- Nets reserve combo guard Spencer Dinwiddie still believes he can play this season, according to a Twitter conversation captured by Net Income of Nets Daily. Dinwiddie continues to recuperate from a partially torn ACL incurred in December. The 6’6″ guard, who has a $12.3MM player option for the 2021/22 season, is currently rehabilitating at Phenom Sports Performance in Westlake Village, California.
- Toronto head coach Nick Nurse noted that the Raptors are hoping to add a big through the buyout market, tweets Michael Grange of Sportsnet. Though LaMarcus Aldridge, Andre Drummond and Gorgui Dieng are already off the board, Kelly Olynyk and Khem Birch could be intriguing options if their teams part with them.
- The Celtics are set to net a $450K tax credit due to new shooting guard Evan Fournier not qualifying for three bonuses in his current deal, Bobby Marks of ESPN tweets.
Daniel Theis and Aminu bring the defense and scoring to Bulls
Celtics offer 2 picks to dump Theis $5 million salary?
Win is everything
Those buyout guys Celtics want is not good
Scoring… On this Bulls team?? I don’t think those guys going there for scoring sillyman.
Chriss is hurt …… right. Hood healthy is offense of the bench. A spot starter a good rotation guy. And is cheaper than Powell. Raptors may not make playoffs this yr. Seems losing their bigs is not helping.
Dinwiddie doesn’t need to play this yr. Why would he even try, don’t buy it. Someone will offer him a nice deal. Pistons n Knicks have plenty cap space.
Why would Dimwiddie even try to play this year?
I would think ’cause it is his job, but, above all playin’ hoops must be his passion, I cannot stand any player that is happy to get paid without playin’ or be ok to be shut for the rest of the season, a player must always wanna play (never mind the team, is their career) healthy or injured, that is their job & passion, that is why!
Added for Dimwiddie is that this year he might very well ride the tail of Kyrie to the finals, which he might very well never do if he is the startin’ guard, big if, for another team!
They couldn’t keep their bigs anyways. Losing Ibaka sucked but losing Gasol wasn’t that big a deal because his age was showing last year and is showing even more this year lol. Trust in Masai. Raps will be fine
Ujiri literally copped Kawhi and won a chip lol I have nothing but faith in him
yeh I think Dinwiddie’s optimism is unfounded… not sure why raptors would be trying to do anything but assess their current roster at this point, they have looked disorganized and slow in the games I have seen.
What? Dinwiddie plays on the Nets and has for several years. Maybe you mean Rodney Hood. Dins would do something about the Raps being slow.
Wow Rodney Hood shot .493 from 3 last season. I realize it was only 21 games and like 3.5 shots a game total but still… that is quite impressive. 37/75 from 3 for anyone in any circumstance is really solid.
I thought hood would immediately get bought out tbh. I guess not
