During a conversation on the Glue Guys Podcast, do-everything Nets guard Bruce Brown expressed his excitement about rookie power forward Reggie Perry, freshly returned to Brooklyn after logging time in the G League “bubble” for the Long Island Nets. As relayed by Net Income of Nets Daily, Brown raved about Perry.
“The person I hadn’t seen a lot that was killing it in training camp was Reggie Perry,” Brown said. “He looked like he could be in the rotation. He was doing a little bit of everything, hitting threes, jump hooks, killing people, killing (center DeAndre Jordan) low key. He literally was killing training camp.”
There’s more out of the Atlantic Division:
- Though the Knicks have yet to supply a recovery timeline for the fourth metacarpal fracture incurred by center Mitchell Robinson on February 12, a Northwestern University-based orthopedic hand surgeon indicated to Marc Berman of the New York Post that Robinson could be out for a total of six to eight weeks.
- During a conversation with Brian Robb of Mass Live, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge discussed a variety of topics, including just how active Boston will be in the week leading up to the trade deadline. “I always go into the trading deadline, thinking that there’s something that we can do to help our team,” Ainge said. “I’m not talking about a big talent swing, I’m talking about just incremental positional changes you know one position in place of another, that we could use.”
- Raptors guard Norman Powell, on a tear of late, has emerged as perhaps Toronto’s top trade asset ahead of the deadline next week, according to Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports. Powell has an $11.6MM player option for the 2021/22 season.
I want to ask the Knicks fans do you think Robinson is a Knick long term or do they really need Drummond or someone else. If Knicks have any chance at Beal they probably need to trade Robinson in any the package.
I would keep Robinson. Drummond’s game doesn’t really mesh with Randle and his defense is not good.
Thibs can help there. And this theory that he plays in paint and will get in Randles way. That’s writers writing. That’s not players playing. You make him stay out with team offense. You play more pick n roll. They killed Randle last yr too about his gm. This yr those same people are praising him. And want to build around him. Trust in Thibs. Drummond can’t hurt us for half a yr. He can only help make sure we are in playoffs. Trust in Thibs
Knicks have 4 bigs better than Drummond, and drafted another guy at that same position. They dont need him
I think Mitch is legit and can be our C for the future. Not really a fan of bringing Drummond bc he may slow Mitch’s development.
Not to criticize the ad hoc panel (which means I am kind of), but the question includes getting a valuable piece back for MR to compensate.
Beal is an ambitious desire, but Norman Powell is looking like an upcoming FA, being better than the $11.6 option even if he wasn’t previously. IMO: a 2 only, not a 1 or 3. Raptors may deal for a center. MR prob better but there are other pieces.
I’m not a huge Drummond fan either way but I definitely think MitchRob has a chance to be a very solid starting C for NYK
Maybe not a star but def a piece
Ainge is wearing me tf out. Shit, or get off the pot. The fans in newengland are done with the game he plays. Make a deal danny! I hope his job depends on it, but the ownership seems to prefer 2nd or 3rd place every year.
Celtics still haven’t replaced Horford. Why not just get him. He already knows team, he’ll jump right in. Then you can move Thompson for Redick. What’s Danny waiting for Larry to come back. Horford only has one yr guaranteed after this one. Talk about gun shy.
Agreed Horford actually looks ok in OKC too. Not 100% of what he was but definitely a big upgrade over what BOS currently has
I’d like to see Drummond this yr. Cause he won’t cost much. With Mitch injury he gets us in playoffs. And makes us competitive at least. We don’t have to keep him. We can trade him. Money comes off books we sign a FA. Or Thibs could work his magic on him. Mitch is a defensive anchor. He’s for real. But to get the most from him. We need a traditional PG to help get the best out of him. Get Drummond for rest of yr. And let them battle it out. Mitch can take his time and heal right. At a cheap price Drummond is worth a long look. You never have too much talent.
You remember what CP3 did for Jordan in LA. That’s what a real PG can do for Mitch. At 22 he can be all NBA defensive team. That’s worth a lot.
If the Knicks want Drummond, I think it needs to be via trade. If he does make it to a buy-out, even with the cap space, I don’t think he’ll choose them over the Nets or the Lakers. I’m not going to repeat my trade posts here, but I think the Knicks can make it work with players that are not part of their long term plans.
Doofus Danny at it again the reason the C’a seem to be quitting this season is because they he’s not go to make a move and that back in December he said he knew this team wasn’t going to win so if the GM/president doesn’t believe then y should these players put everything on the floor game in and out
Norman Powell is in a great situation. Powell is having the best season of his career by far. Has the player option for next season. Am sure Powell will look for a four year contract for about $70 million all guaranteed.
Ainge has always refused the pull the trigger on a HUGE deal. Irving was a bust with them and he’s refused to try again. He should try and get Aldridge.
