The Knicks, Lakers, Clippers, Hornets, and Pelicans are among the teams to explore whether the Pacers are willing to trade big man Myles Turner, league sources tell J. Michael of The Indianapolis Star.
The Pacers were willing to discuss Turner in trade talks during the 2020 offseason and have lost 17 of their last 26 games after an 8-4 start this season, so it’s no surprise that teams are inquiring on the NBA’s leading shot-blocker.
However, Michael says that if Indiana does look to make a move at the trade deadline, it’s unlikely to involve Turner, who has developed into a crucial part of the team’s success. The Pacers have been better both offensively and defensively when he’s on the court.
Here’s more from around the Central:
- Within his look at some hypothetical trades for the Pistons, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports that the team is seriously discussing trades involving Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington, and Mason Plumlee, adding that there have been some “whispers” about the Nets potentially being interested in Plumlee.
- Hamidou Diallo‘s Pistons debut will be delayed a little longer due to his groin strain, head coach Dwane Casey said on Monday (Twitter link via Omari Sankofa II of The Detroit Free Press). Diallo missed his last several games with Oklahoma City as a result of the injury, which he suffered on February 24.
- The Bulls‘ new-look rotation got off to a good start on Sunday, as the team comfortably defeated Toronto with Tomas Satoransky and Thaddeus Young replacing Coby White and Wendell Carter in the starting lineup. Head coach Billy Donovan cautioned after the game that the new starting five isn’t “set in stone” (Twitter link via Eric Woodyard of ESPN). However, the affected players sounded fully on board with the changes, with Carter stating that he would’ve benched himself too, as K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago writes.
- Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic explores what the lineup changes might say about the Bulls‘ approach to the trade deadline, suggesting that the team seems unlikely to be a seller.
The only trade that works in trade machine is Schroder for Turner straight up or Harrell, Kuzma + someone else. Can’t do a KCP trade for some reason.
Are you using the ESPN Trade Machine? Trading KCP + THT + McKinnie didn’t work for me on ESPN, but worked on RealGM & TradeNBA…not that Indiana would go for a trade like that…
I tried kcp and kuzma and it worked.
I think the most likely if pacers would be interested would be
Schroder and kuzma for turner or
Kcp and kuzma for turner
Warren will be a free agent and they could replace him with kuzma and his affordable contract. Pacers seem to be getting young with oladipo being delt for lavert. Not saying this would beat out other teams but these would be our only viable trades with cap space
Indy says no. For one, an offer would have to include TNT. They might be interested in Kuzma to keep Turner challenged, but then, Turner is the target. I don’t see a Turner trade. Like the article indicated, Turner’s on-off is the team’s highest and 20 points higher than Sabonis’. (Sabonis has the highest PER and lowest on-off, go figure. The modern big man blues.)
Now Indy has four average-or-better guards (Lavert, Brogdan, Lamb & Mcconnell) plus speedy Holiday and Sumner, and I would like to see Mcconnell take over somewhere, so…
Kuzma for Mcconnell + center Bitadze or plus19 Jakar Sampson works in the x%sure trade machine!
The Nets would need Joe Harris or Jordan+ their whole bench for Plumlee. He has a trade kicker in addition to whatever Detroit wants for him.
The hypothetical proposal Edwards considers in his story is for Dinwiddie — I think he’d be the likelier trade candidate than Harris or Jordan.
Those available Pistons are not sexy
They need to join dating website
Knicks should make a trade for him if Pacers unrealistically decide to do so. I would trade Taj, Payton, Knox.
You need to overpay dramatically to get Turner
Pacers are not seeking for equal value
Example
Schroeder and Tucker for Turner
Still not enough. Another good joke!
The buy low window on Turner has likely closed. He and Sabonis are both having great years, and, with Warren out, they’ve had to log more time together and the results are good. Of course, I don’t think it was ever quite so low where they’d consider trading him for guys like Kuzma and/or Tucker.
Agree. The Pacers aren’t trading Turner. Turner is an excellent player. Still young, has game, very athletic and is on a team friendly contract. Pacers would be foolish to trade Turner. Talented athletic big men are hard to come by. Turner and Sabonis is an excellent interior combo.
