Warriors big men James Wiseman and Eric Paschall will be quarantining due to COVID-19 protocols for at least one week, Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area tweets.
The players were initially sidelined tonight for Golden State’s battle with the hapless Rockets, a 108-94 victory, after contact tracing revealed potential exposure to the novel coronavirus, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic (Twitter link). Slater adds that some of the Warriors’ development staff and assistant coaches have also entered the NBA’s coronavirus protocols.
Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area notes (via Twitter) that the earliest Wiseman and Paschall can return to the floor for the Warriors will be next Thursday against the Kings. In the absence of both big men, the Warriors will most likely lean more on veterans Draymond Green and Kevon Looney.
Rookie center Wiseman has shown flashes of the promise that prompted the Warriors to select him with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA draft out of Memphis. He is currently averaging 11.8 PPG and 6.0 RPG, in just 20.8 MPG, across 29 games for the Warriors (including 17 starts). Second-year power forward Paschall, a 2019/20 All-Rookie selection, has seen his output decrease during his second season while playing on a healthier roster.
Warriors star Stephen Curry also left Wednesday’s game with an injury diagnosed as a tailbone contusion. While head coach Steve Kerr said it initially looked “kind of scary,” he added that he doesn’t expect Curry to miss much time, per Nick Friedell of ESPN.
The hapless Rockets have been completely decimated by injuries. In each their last 7 games they were missing between 3 and 6 of their regular players, and that’s not even counting PJ Tucker who was traded today (he was held out of his last 4 games).
Wood was out for 6 of those games (17 total) before coming back today. Eric Gordon also missed 6 of the last 7 games. Wall and House each missed 5 of those games, so did David Nwaba who chose to play hurt in two games before re-injuring himself.
Literally every bad team ever has been “decimated by injuries” – its an excuse as old as time and a part of the game and not anything anyone cares about other than homers.
It is a real excuse at times though.
Not really. If your team doesn’t have depth to cover injuries then it it’s not a well-constructed team and never deserved to make the playoffs in the first place.
Decimated by injuries? Warriors #2 guy wasn’t playing…
In other words the Rockets suck and won’t win more than 23 gms. Just as you predicted. Go change your name again …… 18 in a row and counting.
The record is 26 in a row.
CP3 called and said they doubled up on Rockets. Give Chris his respect. You dogged Chris for a yr. I will not let you forget. Next gm up is for worst record in NBA.
Pistons better than Rockets
Dude hasnt said anything that out of line in a long time, but everyone seems to attack him, unprovoked. I dont get it. I personally dont like James Harden, and the Rockets owner is 1 of the biggest PoS of all time, but I dont see the problem everyone has with this dude from stuff that happened a really long time ago, at this point
He’s hated on everyone and every team that he wants Rockets to do better than. His warped sense of Homerism has led him astray. Disrespectful towards other teams just to make Rockets look better. Makes up facts to troll. This has gone on a long time. Time for reparations. He’s talk much worse about my team. I just show the numbers. I don’t make up stuff for attention.
Unprovoked really?— robohouston still attacks, easily triggered to vitriol when HR even mentions one of his hates. The above injury report shows him defensive & repetitive as always, though milder than when the rox were hot.
I think he was mad bc Alex called the Rocket mothership “hapless”.
Sounded like a term used by robohouston for the Cavs… which isn’t all wrong… but they just nailed Boston by defending the wings well… a good matchup for the Cavs and they were at “home”.
Ya Boston continuing to play Jeff Teague, and refusing to use Nesmith at all, and Pritchard enough is annoying. But it worked out for you guys
Maybe I’m wrong. I’m just saying I havent seen him say much of anything about anyone besides his own team, or anyone that was once associated with that team, in a long time, without at least having been provoked. I dont see anything wrong about talking about your own team. I’d also argue that injuries are a big deal. I’ve talked about the Heats injuries from 6 of the last 7 years. They were finally relatively healthy last season, until the finals, and see what happened? Not that Houston was going to be that much of anything, but I think they’d at least be in the fight for those playin spots/last spot of the playoffs, where they would have been if they never made the trades they made, if they hadnt had the injury situations they’ve had. Of..them joining a very exclusive list having 10+ losses in a row by double digits doesnt help that argument, but I think they’re relatively similar to what they’ve been, with arguably more defensive versatility…although it could also be argued that at least 3 of those injured guys have a history of injuries, and anytime your team is depending on certain guys to stay healthy, that’s probably something you want to avoid with your important pieces
Some of the biggest sports fans bemoan their favorite team, notice all the mistakes, would surely do better than the team they think, while getting mad at the TV screen… maybe call the team a version of Dem Bums.
lol Then there are SEC football fans!
The Rockets biggest problem is, the players having been assembled on a talent basis, may not gel… may not even like each other, and so lack the ability to rebound from tough times. Plenty of evidence that Wood and Porter will not be popular as leaders, and Tucker and Swiss guy are gone.
Last year the Heat could hit teams in many ways and did find a leader much better than Dragic or Richardson. I think injuries can be prevented by players being alert, involved, steady, in the moment, by good eye-level captaincy… I’m talking about one of the guys, not a HC or GM.
@x%sure Yup, rockets homer was definitely triggered by “hapless” which is downright bizarre because, uh, theyve lost 18 in a row? That’s literally what “hapless” means. Homers refuse to hold an L which is weird, because I was totally happy to admit last seasons GSW were extremely bad even with Curry and Draymond. Guess I’m not a mindless homer who can actually accept when my team stinks, huh?
This year’s roster is slightly better but the FO screwed up (again) by targeting Wanamaker and Bazemore, two very low IQ players who don’t fit Kerr’s schemes like, at all. If I have to watch Bazemore foul a guy shooting a 3 when he had plenty of time not to again I will have to bring out the scream pillow.
Good point much worse when Rockets were hot. Been so long lol.
@fomerlyz Coming into a GSW-specific post to only talk about the Rockets and not mention GSW is exactly why everyone hates him. Make sense?
Wow. That is some high level badness.
This helps GS
How so?
Wiseman and Paschall wont play, which helps them, if they’re trying to win games
If Kerr ever has to miss time again GSW will probably win like 20 games in a row like they did last time Kerr was gone.
Luke Walton coached GSW better than Kerr, that’s always funny to me.
Kerr was the one smart enough to do what I said on here they wouldn’t be smart enough to do, which is start Draymond over David Lee. He used the perfect rotation for however many years straight as well. He was also the one that got them away from the iso heavy offense, and open up the floor for them. I disagree with the idea he is a bad coach. While I talked about different rotations earlier in the season, he also added Looney to that starting lineup. The main issue is them not grabbing at least 1 or 2 different defenders off the bench, that were readily available and fit their cost situation, and drafting Hassan Whiteside 2 overall
Don’t get me wrong, Kerr WAS smart at one point, but ever since 2018 or so he has been exposed for not adapting to the rosters he has been given. He’s stuck in his ways that won him games in the past but the ways to win in 2021 have changed and he’s been left in the dust.
Why did Steph not play the 2nd quarter against the Lebron and the Lakers until 5 mins left, but he came in with 8 mins left against the lowly, terrible Rockets? Kerr is broken, that’s why.
NBA reports 3 new positive COVID-19 tests since March 10
My educational guess
Wiseman – Warriors
Paschall – Warriors
Kardashian – Celtics
Don’t get how players get caught up in protocols. How hard can it be. Makes no sense. Wiseman is only playing 20 mins. He should be at 26 minimum. 26 or more a gm with more than 29 gms played (out of 42). He would be ROY. Or at least chasing it.
Only move I see Warriors making is moving Obrue. He’s a FA and they won’t sign him. He’s playing well now.
Shocking that the person in love with Andre Drummond would think this about Wiseman…
Why would I be in Love with him. And I’m the one who said Wiseman was best player in draft. Before he left Memphis lol. Catch up .
Wanting Drummond for a playoff run. After getting him for nothing. Means you love your team. Not the player. Reading Comprehension it’s a lost art on this board it seems.
You mention him everywhere in spots that make no sense, and talk up skillset he doesn’t have
Okay silly person. How does this trade make sense? Khloe Kardashian is not on the roster of either the Warriors or Celtics.
I think he meant KK’s hubby TristanT; and it was not a trade but a kind of joke. I liked it like that anyway.
But, it was ‘educational’. So, he must be right.
You need to listen to Sillivan. He believes that the Warriors will trade Paschall and Wiseman to the Celtics for Khloe Kardashian. He is always right. He stated this as fact. I know this is a stupid trade. It fits in with Marty’s trade ideas. She has high basketball IQ. She married Lamar Odom at the height of his basketball earnings. She divorced him on his way down. Nice alimony.
I’m sure SHE had a prenuptial. She’s worth way more than he anyway.
Oh, brother….
I don’t think she has a brother…She would provide great defense. Grind that booty into guys…There’s a few turnovers.
This isn’t code for Wiseman and Paschall are on the trade block before the end of the month deadline and they don’t want to risk them getting hurt in the meantime?
