UConn sophomore guard James Bouknight is entering the 2021 NBA draft pool and intends to hire an agent, he told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
In his second season with the Huskies in 2020/21, Bouknight increased his averages to 18.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 15 contests (31.7 MPG). He currently ranks 18th on ESPN’s big board of 2021 prospects and is viewed as a potential lottery pick.
Another one of ESPN’s top 25 prospects for 2021, Stanford freshman forward Ziaire Williams, also plans to enter the draft, announcing his intentions today on Instagram. While Williams didn’t explicitly say that he’ll forgo his remaining college eligibility, the wording in his post suggests that’s the plan.
Williams had an up-and-down freshman season, averaging 10.7 PPG on an underwhelming .374/.291/.796 shooting line in 20 games (27.9 MPG).
However, ESPN draft guru Mike Schmitz notes that the 6’8″ forward has good size and length for a wing, is a strong off-ball defender, and has shown “major shotmaking potential.” Williams ranks 23rd on ESPN’s board.
Not being able to shoot from the three is dead sentence in today’s nba
At this moment Williams is comparable to 6th pick Culver?
A freshman coming out with a “.374/.291/.796 shooting line” and being considered a top 25 prospect is exactly why the NBA needs to institute a 2-year rule and let these kids – and their games – mature.
I like Bouknight a good 2way player. Big East players play D. They are more disciplined prospects to me. Haven’t really watch Ziaire much. Got good size for a 3 n D wing. Bouknight is a good SG prospect going in the lottery.
I only know of him from a documentary they made when he was in high school .
Check out his clips on YouTube. Got good size and can score. From Bklyn so knows how to play gm. Still got upside too. He wasn’t totally aggressive at UConn . So I can see him being a more aggressive scorer in NBA. Definitely 1st rd talent
He will be _ because he isn’t?
Booknight has often been on free tv. I suspect he will fall from 18 due to softness and, while he has decent size for college, it’s not enough for the NBA and he will have nowhere to go.
How he a top prospect when he shot terrible . Is it off his name ?? He need to stay another year but I guess the nba more important to him smh . They should make a rule either go to the nba from high school or stay two year in college
I don’t buy any player from Michigan
I think Gonzaga coach is far better than Cavs coach
One minute to wapner.
Of course, i am an excellent driver. – silliv
I’d stay clear of Bouknight. Talented, for sure, but he’s not a team guy, and it will take a 180 degree attitude adjustment to reign in his undisciplined and inefficient game. Nobody in the UConn program will miss him, and their projected record next year just improved with his departure.
agree. high volume player that’s inefficient. slight frame that’s not gonna hold up driving the lane. dribbles in sets instead of keeping the ball flowing and then jacks up contested shots.
This fool need 2 stay in school
