Lakers forward Jared Dudley has suffered a right MCL tear and is evaluating his treatment options, the team announced, as relayed by Michael Duarte of NBC Los Angeles (Twitter link). No timetable was issued for his return.
Dudley, 35, has appeared in only 11 games this season, playing a total of 76 minutes. He was part of the team’s 2019/20 championship roster, serving as a valuable locker room leader and appearing in 45 contests.
Dudley has made past stops with Charlotte, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Washington and Brooklyn during his 14-year NBA career. The Lakers currently own the third-best record in the West at 25-13.
Hate to say it but his career is over even when he comes back. Idk why he’s still taking up a spot on the lakers
Simple. He is intelligent enough to pass on knowledge to younger players and not get upset with only playing 76 minutes this year. You put a better player in his spot and you would have a disgruntled player complaining about PT.
He’s the Lakers Haslem
Cut em please!!!!! Torn mcl sitting on bench
Tore his MCL bringing home a pizza
JR Smith on line one ready for only playoff duty.
Trade incoming…
Problem is they’re just $1.5M below the hard cap. So any trade the Lakers make will be extremely limited by the salary matching restrictions.
Trade incoming? Why? He can still sit on the bench and do exactly what he was doing even if they amputate his leg. This is not going to change anything for the Lakers.
If they’re smart they’ll want the space under the hard cap, brochacho
Damn.. there goes the Lakers season.
My thoughts exactly, he’s virtually impossible to replace.
jared sullinger. replaced.
Tore his MCL cheerleading, shoulda stretched…
Kind of like that time Andrew Luck approached the podium to announce a two year extension, rolled his ankle, and conveniently took the opportunity to announce his retirement.
I know it’s fun to dunk on Dudley, but he’s a good guy who has been a role player his entire career. He’s played hard, worked on his game, been a leader, and finished his career strong.
Instead of making fun of the guy, let’s acknowledge this is a rotten way to end a career, and salute a guy who did it right.
This is awful news for Dudley, and I hope he’s not too saddened by it. He’s had a good run.
A lot of a-hole pips here… i hope they dont tear their acl/mcl
Just because you make a joke out of an injury, that doesn’t make you an a-hole. I guess you’re not educated enough to know that humor is actually a mature defense mechanism. Life is not meant to be taken seriously, making jokes and light out of situations is healthy and necessary for survival. Tired of the joke police. The man didn’t die, smh
Exactly, plus I’m sure he is a really good locker room presence.
I don’t think it’s the end, he seemed even keeled, he’ll figure it out.
Sitting out, he’s gonna get out of shape
When does he even play???
Hes one of the best guys to have on your bench easy.
How? He’s useless
Lakers filing that exemption paperwork!
Dudley has always been a great teammate wherever he went, played whatever limited role he had off those many team benches.
That being said, since becoming a teammate of Lebron/AD, then winning a ‘chip last season, whatever little arrogance he had, it seemed to have increased ten-fold …….. like the proverbial fly on top of a lion.
Going all social-media blasting Paul George, releasing a book which was basically Lebron nuthuggery, it didn’t sit well with a lot of folks.
If this is the end of his career, hope Lebron, can give him an assistant coaching job on that LAKER bench, one day.
Amazing how many people I’m seeing wondering why JD is still on the team. Has nothing to do with him teaching young guys. Dudley couldn’t teach a rock to sit. Bron wants him there, and what Bron wants, Bron gets.
