The Magic have waived veteran point guard Jeff Teague, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. Orlando acquired Teague as part of the Evan Fournier trade at the trade deadline and had reportedly informed the veteran he would be let go.
Teague, 32, signed with Boston as a free agent over the summer but did not play well during his brief stint in Beantown. In 34 games (five starts), Teague averaged just 6.9 PPG and 2.1 APG while shooting 41.5% from the field, his lowest single-season total since his rookie campaign.
A former All-Star, Teague was at one time a reliable scorer and playmaker for the Hawks but he has failed to replicate his prior success since leaving Atlanta following the 2015/16 season.
Teague is still a veteran presence with postseason experience so he figures to draw interest from at least a few teams as a depth piece for the remainder of the season.
For his career, Teague has averaged 12.3 PPG, 5.6 APG and 2.3 RPG in 805 games for the Hawks, Pacers, Timberwolves and Celtics.
Someone will pick him up for the stretch run, but at this point I’m not sure he can be a difference maker.
The Bucks will consider him for backup PG.
heard the Beijing Ducks may need a backup PG as well
That’s cold LoL
The Braska Husker Shucks
Still seems like fine backup numbers depending on the minutes per game. I don’t think he’s Europe bound yet
He was playing well in last few games. I would love to see him reunite with the hawks with the Rondo trade. The Bucks would be his best chance at a ring.
Only if nobody can find Lou again.
The Bulls might be the only competitive team that could give him a shot at starting again. Maybe the Clippers if they would want Rondo coming off the bench. Someone will pick him up.
All the teams that wanted Lowry could want Teague. Next stop Miami??
Bulls, Heat, Clippers all seem like good bets.
Ya be great come chi town I believe he still has lil left in tank
Bud coached him on the Hawks and the Bucks could use him.
This guy went from star to end of the bench very quickly. Some guys slowly decline after 30 and some fall off a cliff after 30. Looks like Teague may be the latter.
Hawks ran a similar system to the Spurs and he thrived. As far as systems go, I think the Clippers and the triangle may be a great fit. He’d add another versatile piece and allow them to get creative with Jackson off the bench.
Very sad story
Bucks ….
If Curry suffers another major injury like he has in each of the last three seasons then the Warriors will definitely need to sign another veteran PG to replace him.
People quickly talk about how Teague declined but these are the fans that just watch games but don’t understand chemistry style of system that this man played in Teague needs to get to a familiar system where he can be comfortable to play instead of readjusting his game to fit a team needs Milwaukee is his best bet BUD was the coach that made him a great player
