The Nuggets would have some interest in guard Avery Bradley if he’s bought out, Mike Singer of the Denver Post tweets. Bradley was part of package the Heat shipped to Houston for Victor Oladipo. Bradley has only appeared in 10 games this season due to injury. There’s a $5.9MM team option on the remaining year of his contract.
We have more on the Nuggets:
- The team’s ownership is willing to pay the luxury tax in a future season as long as the club is a prime contender for the title, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN. Denver has managed to stay below the tax threshold this season. Aaron Gordon‘s contract and Michael Porter Jr.‘s rookie deal expire after next season, giving the franchise a season-and-a-half to evaluate whether keeping both of them, along with stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, is worth a big luxury tax bill. However, ownership doesn’t want to be a “repeater” tax team, Lowe adds. Teams are subject to repeater penalties when they’ve been a taxpayer in three of four seasons.
- Prior to acquiring Gordon from the Magic, the Nuggets discussed a P.J. Tucker trade with the Rockets but never got close to an agreement, Lowe reports in the same story. They also sent feelers to the Kings regarding Harrison Barnes but Sacramento wasn’t interested in dealing him.
- Murray has been very proactive about his interest in playing for Team Canada in the Summer Olympics, Raptors and Team Canada coach Nick Nurse told The Athletic’s Blake Murphy (Twitter link).
I think trading for Aaron Gordon was an excellent move by the Nuggets
They are almost pure offense and Gordon is excellent defensively. They needed someone like him and they got him
Excellent defensively? I’ll say you are excellent at defending him as a player lol
Time will tell
Gordon can be directed differently… hopefully. He could/should be good defensively, and Denver has shooters already. He was done a favor by being sent to a contender. Now drive don’t just pull up.
Great move going for Avery Bradley, for that defense. J.Murray is accustomed to running with an active defender, and, no way AB ges along in Houston with Wall & Porter who may clash as it is.
I started predicting Denver for the WC and that is looking more promising.
There’s no reason why Wall, Porter, and Bradley can’t co-exist.
No reason a robohouston could tell… They are all humans whose actions vary from logical anticipations, and differently.
Rockets are losers vacuuming debris.
Whatever you say. The Rockets are the most underrated team in the NBA, go ahead and call me a homer if you insist on basing your opinions on popular belief. The team has been absolutely plagued by turnaround and injuries this season, that’s why they’re 13-32.
Go ahead and doubt them just like everyone else, and prepare to be surprised in 2021-2022 when they will have the most improved record in the NBA. They will be a playoff team in 2022, wait and see.
I’m sure they will tank, regardless of how good they are… which likely would be in need of another top pick.
Houston refusing players of buy outs wall wanted out let’s see how this play out
he’s a great upgrade from millsap at PF..Denver made some good moves..could upset a team like Clippers or Lakers imo
I can save them a year and a half. The answer is no. Pretty good trade, but foundationally they still need a real 3. Not two 4s, one that can shoot like a 3, and another than can defend like a 3. And real 3’s (if real good) are even harder to find and more expensive.
Nuggets, Jazz and Blazers always have great GMs
Today’s NBA if you to compete for a title. You have to have forwards who have size and can defend. Wings have have size now. Guards like Harden have size. It’s not like you can stop them. But if you can defend you can compete. Gordon is a good fit in Denver. They have enough offense. But he will still get his 18. He is another solid piece and they don’t lose players. With him and McGee they got deeper and are better. Bradley would only help.
Smart comment. If Bradley is healthy, he’d definitely help to some degree in multiple ways. As for Gordon, I see him averaging 14 ppg. What I hope is he’s effective but more so, efficient. Hopefully his passing acumen is as advertised. If he will rebound really well, defend competently (something the Nuggets badly need), pass, prove to be a smart player and hit his threes and finish at the tin, all things he’s capable off, he will be another puzzle piece. He’s not great but he can prove to be an asset.
Gordon is a solid 2way piece. I like it basketball wise. Plus he’s coming to a contender. He will be pumped playing in playoffs. This is his shot to make a mark on his career. With a solid team. It’s going to be fun for Nuggets fans.
Aaron Gordon will be a great fit with jokic in the front court.
Avery is on a team-friendly deal for next season, there’s no reason for the Rockets to buy him out. The only player they should give a buyout to is Dante Exum.
