Lakers center Marc Gasol was inactive on Tuesday after being placed under the league’s health and safety protocols, Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register tweets. Gasol had started all 35 games this season prior to Tuesday, posting modest stats of 4.8 PPG and 4.1 RPG. Gasol was signed to a two-year, $5.25MM contract in November.
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- Clippers All-Star Kawhi Leonard was a late scratch in the team’s loss to Boston on Tuesday due to back spasms, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN relays. Leonard, who felt discomfort during warmups, has missed eight games this season for a variety of reasons.
- The Warriors have brought back guards Jordan Poole and Nico Mannion from the G League bubble for depth in their last two games prior to the All-Star break, according to a team press release. Poole averaged 22.4 PPG in 11 games for affiliate Santa Cruz and has also appeared in 15 NBA games this season. Mannion, a two-way player, averaged 19.3 PPG for Santa Cruz in nine appearances.
- Poole’s presence is one reason why the Warriors aren’t interested in signing Jeremy Lin as a backup point guard at this time, according to Kendra Andrews of NBC Sports Bay Area. Lin has performed well with Santa Cruz but Golden State would have to make room for him on its roster. The Warriors’ preference is for Brad Wanamaker to regain the form he showed with Boston last season or for Poole to take over that role before adding Lin to the mix.
I think Poole and Mannion better staying in G-League for seasoning. Bring up Lin, Wanamaker hasn’t looked that great.
I think it might be best if thats what they did, but I will say that Mannion is averaging almost 20 points a game across 9 games in the G league
Gleague season is almost over
im not a basketball expert by any means, but Lim seems to get so much play for a guy who has nowhere near lived up to his hype.
What hype? He was undrafted. He did well for being an undrafted guy.
Eaxactly. The run he had in New York has it’s own name and is etched in history. I believe he has surpassed all expectations of him a long time ago. To have a career were still even commenting on…
I think he’s talking in the here and now….which I agree too much hype…GSW literally has BIGger issues right now
This guy is a side show circus these days, worked perfect for the Lakers pre LeBron circus act….2021 GSW I dont think so
Wanamaker is the better defender, although Lin hasnt had that many seasons where he was that bad defensively, despite what you might think when you think of him. If he is healthy, he could be serviceable enough on that end, but it probably depends on who is around him
Lol who cares about stats? Gasol leads the league in defensive box plus/minus, and has a +10 net rating
*counting stats lol
Yeah I do find very funny how LAL fans keep on criticizing Gasol, but his contribution for what he plays ain’t bad at all, & he is one of the top blockers in the league, as many as Embiid playing just about half the time, ain’t looking bad from my viewpoint.
Also at the end of the day Gasol is playin’ for the vets min, which in my book it means you can’t expect anythin’ at all from him, any contribution he does is a bonus, if LAL or any team do depend on the performance of vet min guys, they really screwed & one must wonder what the guys earning like 10 or 15 times the vet min are doing for their team, right?
I like Marc but we shouldn’t of let go of both Dwight and Javale especially since we could have gotten Howard cheap. Marc doesn’t play enough minutes to cover the loss of both those guys
Signing Gasol to the minimum didnt preclude them from keeping 1 of those guys…
NERD
yeah, stats crazy. gasol definitely passes the the eye test.
Will Kawhi need an AS replacement?
Yes. SGA should take his spot. Kawhi should load manage for a few days.
Why is Wanamaker in the league? That guy sucks. No way Poole can be any worse than him…
The warriors have nearly zero scoring off the bench other than Pascall and Wiseman. Lin could really run that second unit well
wannamaker is the reason he stands around on offense when he is the PG.
Lakers and I am a lifelong fan, made a mistake letting Howard go when we could of had for a near minimum contract. In our recent match up even with AD, Philly controlled the game on the inside like no team has done to the lakers for some time. I like young guy Damian Jones but it was a mistake to let both Javale and Dwight go and replacing all those minutes with a part time player in Veteran Gasoline. Our inside game and D was weakened.
It is Wierd Wannamaker looked good for Celtics goes west and sucks. Kanter sucks and then goes west and plays great.
