How much longer does LeBron James want to keep playing? Long enough to make history by playing with his son Bronny, Mark Medina of USA Today tweets. “That’s definitely one of my goals, but that’s a long-term goal,” The Lakers‘ star said. “My son right now is in high school and enjoying what being a teenager is all about. But that would be pretty cool to go on my resume.” Bronny, 16, attends Sierra Canyon in Chatsworth, Calif. and recently had surgery to repair torn meniscus.
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- The Lakers are unlikely to find help via a trade due to salary-cap restrictions and the fact that their best trade pieces are rotation players, Jovan Buha of The Athletic opines. The team could use help at backup center, as well as a large wing with 3-point ability. Their best place to find that would be in the buyout market, with Andre Drummond, P.J. Tucker and Trevor Ariza as possibilities. The Lakers’ reported interest in Drummond was already noted here.
- Nicolas Batum was looking to redeem himself after his career went sour in Charlotte. The Clippers entered the season seeking redemption after an abrupt dismissal from the postseason. That’s one of the reasons Batum decided to sign with the team, as Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times details. Batum is averaging 9.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG and 2.4 APG in 35 starts this season. He’s on a one-year, veteran’s minimum deal and will re-enter the free agent market this summer.
- The Warriors would be better off building toward next season rather than making moves to collect more victories this season, Tim Kawakami of The Athletic argues. There’s no reason to use their $9.2MM disabled player exception, especially with the luxury-tax implications it would bring. The better course of action would to give lottery pick James Wiseman ample playing time and wait for the loaded draft.
Warriors only going to make a small move. Bob Meyer said Wiseman and the first round pick will not be traded.
I agree with that approach. Not going to become a legit Title contender with a raw Wiseman so give him all the Reps we can between now and the end of the season. Take our lumps with his Development this season in exchange for a more consistent Contributor next season.
I think this is what’s ultimately best – Id even look to be small sellers if I could land something good for Oubre …. Tough first 7 games before the Mar 25th TD as well for GSW to gain momentum
Clips,Jazz,Lakers,Rockets—Griz Griz 76ers
There is no shame in a down year w No Klay and a rook at C…. They should be big players 22/23/24 , no need to empty the war chest on 21 Imo, I think they know this
Bob Meyer is a wiseman
He’s a moron for openly wasting a prime/career year from Steph Curry. The Warriors front office has been the dumbest in the NBA since they let the logo leave.
yeah, let’s just forget everything else he’s done..loke helping the Dubs become relative to the NBA after decades and decades of suckiness..let’s look past those NBA championships too.
Klays injured, and let’s be honest even if the warriors bend over backwards to get another star:
1. They’ll leverage their young guys in a trade
2. It wouldn’t matter because they’re not beating the Lakers or Brooklyn
Really? Those poor Lakers spent all that money and now can’t get much help at the TD? Dog gone…
They are hard capped same for clippers makes moves hard ! Nets have the advantages as a tax team in that they can go as far over the cap as they want
What’s a tax team? And how can one team go as far over the cap as they want and another can not? What is the point of a cap then?
The clippers and lakers used the big mid level exception which ,means they promised to not spend more then 6 million over the tax under any circumstance! Where as nets didn’t use any exceptions! But any team who uses the big mid level , or the bi annual or gets a guy in a sign n trade triggers the hard cap
Ah, thanks for clarifying
Actually they are hard capped due to the bi annual exception they gave Mathews. Team with lebron and ad still better when it really means something..
Over 50% of the league is hard capped
Well it makes it hard for any of those teams to add anyone to help them out bc they can’t go over the hard cap for even a second no matter what’ ,trades have to match dollar for dollar instead of the 10 % salary matching rules
PJ Tucker won’t be available on the buyout market. If the Rockets don’t trade him, then they will keep him as their starting PF. There’s no point in buying him out.
Remember this is not 2K you don’t do moves to help the team, specially when HOU is doomed, you do the moves to help the players, if PJ doesn’t get trade & he wants to be bought out, he will be, is hardly a HOU decision to make there dude!
No wonder HOU is like the worst team in the league if their starting PF is like the worst player in the league, or close enough, right?
The problem is Houston wanting way to much for PJ. They can get a 2nd round pick for him but instead want a top younf player which they will not get.
Repeat after me – Fertita is the cheapest owner in the league, he would buy out tucker if it ment saving money. He decided to take a first round pick rather than Jarret Allen cuz he didn’t want to pay him
The warriors ownership would never.
Lmao. Cause u spoke with PJ Tucker. And buying a player out is definitely a teams decision?
What a crock. Buying a player out is a team decision, player has zero power over the process. Only way guys get bought out is giving up money.
Lakers need a rim protector. We’ve know this since they lost Howard n McGee. A rim protector for 15-20 mins a gm helps their whole team D. For them to repeat they will need to address this.
I think Whiteside is about the only hope for the trade market
Boogie is probably the b/u plan
They have a logical answer in-house but will AD be willing to play the 5 come playoffs. I agree, as is, isn’t enough to win 4 series
