The Heat and Knicks, two of the teams linked most frequently to Victor Oladipo, are reluctant to offer substantial packages for the Rockets guard, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (via Twitter). However, that doesn’t mean that Houston is considering moving the two-time All-Star for pennies on the dollar.

According to Wojnarowski, a market has developed for Oladipo, with teams offering some combination of young players and/or first-round picks. The clubs making those offers will be capped out this offseason, Woj notes, which means acquiring Oladipo’s Bird rights would be crucial to locking him up long-term. Miami and New York, on the other hand, project to have significant cap room and could conceivably sign Oladipo outright in free agency.
The Rockets appear likely to move Oladipo before this Thursday’s trade deadline, says Wojnarowski.

Oladipo hasn’t recaptured his All-Star form since suffering a ruptured quad tendon in 2019, but remains relatively productive, averaging 20.8 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 4.7 APG on .411/.333/.767 shooting in 29 games (33.4 MPG) for Indiana and Houston this season. He’ll be seeking a raise on his current $21MM salary this offseason when he reaches unrestricted free agency.
Besides Oladipo, not many other Rockets players who are on the trade block are generating major interest ahead of this week’s deadline, per David Aldridge, Kelly Iko, and Danny Leroux of The Athletic. Danuel House has generated some interest, but the market for Sterling Brown and Ben McLemore appears limited.
(Yawn)
Shoulda kept Caris LeVert!!!
Yeah I didn’t understand that. I know he had the cancer scare but still would have rather had him.

It doesn’t mean Rockets are considering moving Oladipo for pennies on the dollar
As I said many times, Oladipo is overvalued by Rockets
It literally says in the article that they are receiving offers of young players/1st round picks. That is not pennies on the dollar. That’s exactly what they want. I think significantly better than what you’ve said they’ll get for him lol
The Cavs should jump all over this…The Thingamajig is exactly what they need…resign him with Bird rights. Everyone should be available except Sexton and Allen. Go get him!
Too funny. When I commented a few days ago saying VO should get Houston a solid young player and a 1st, others thought I was talking crazy and that all he was worth was a garbage expiring contract and a 2nd rounder. Funny how that works…..
According to USA Today
Heat are eyeing John Wall
Interesting
What would it cost to acquire sterling brown?
A sterling silver tea set? At most.
Rox will end up keeping him then losing him for nothing.
I’m not an expert, but if they get into the offseason and he’s still on the roster, wouldn’t the Rox still potentially be able to mine some value through a sign and trade? I get that it assumes that he plays well for the rest of the year, and doesn’t have another injury, but just because they don’t trade him now doesn’t GUARANTEE they lose him for nothing, does it?
I mean if you want to give the rockets a pass then go ahead.
Watched HOU v OKC, OKC up by 2 with 30 sec left in the game. VO comes down the court and jacks an early 3 with no other Rockets under the bucket and clanked it…that sums up how much he wants to be on the Rockets.
Looking at a list of NBA championship teams since 2000, none of them stands out as a team that ever went through a “re-build.” I don’t follow the league closely, so I’d appreciate insights from others on the common methods used by those champions to achieve success.
I would say they all went through a rebuild at least from the point that they had little to nothing on the roster. I guess it depends on what you consider a rebuild. OKC / Philly style tanking to accumulate annual picks at the top of the draft is not the only form of rebuilding.
Lakers did a rebuild between kobe and lebron
…then threw all those players out to get AD, and a championship. But technically you are correct.
The Cs moving a pair of young players and picks for Oladipo and then moving Smart and picks for Gordon and Fournier could make things a bit more interesting
Breaking News ——. Rockets win Rockets win
About time …… ok so why would they play hard ball with Oladipo. I doubt there are many offers. The wise move would be to use him in three way to get a pkayer they want. Gordon, Markkanen, Bagley all would fit nicely with Wood and Wall. Why are you being woozies. I would much rather Knicks get Fournier. But if he’s gone Oladipo on the cheap is worth looking into.
Dipo & Sterling for Pat Bev, Terrence Mann, and 3 second round picks.
Oladipo and some half eaten McDonald’s fries for an injured guy to match salary and the rights to some retired Euro player.
