D.J. Augustin went from one of the league’s best teams to one of the worst this week, but he’s excited to suit up for his adopted hometown, writes Jonathan Feigen of The Houston Chronicle. Augustin was part of the return in the deal that sent P.J. Tucker from the Rockets to the Bucks, and he’s ready to assume a leadership role as the oldest player on his new team.
“Coming in being in this position with a team that lost a lot of games, losing seasons, I’ve been a part of that,” Augustin said. “I’ve also been a part of winning teams and teams that won a lot of games. Knowing what I’ve been through, trying to bring that leadership here, try to keep guys together through these rough times. Hopefully, we can turn things around before the season ends.”
“That’s one of those guys I always wanted to play with and also tried to get him as a backup a couple times in Washington,” Wall said. “It’s funny how we ended up on the same team now. I always respected him, his play and how he carries himself on and off the court.”
There’s more from Houston:
Losing Steak sux and so does a top 3 2021 draft pick or James Wiseman for Victor Oladipo
I try to eat my steak before I lose it.
Rockets want Oubre and Wolves pick for Oladipo
Bleach report suggest that Warriors use the second round pick instead of Wolves pick
Rockets are trying to trade 2-month assets for 15 years assets
To me, it’s like
Clippers want to trade Lou Williams for Zion
Pelicans counter offer is Redick for Lou Williams
Who cares about Bleacher Report. The Rockets want Wiseman, or the Wolves 1st. They do not want Oubre. Oh, the Warriors don’t have a second pick in this years draft. Learn to read.
Losing steak
To be fair, they don’t deserve steak dinners with this losing streak.
I actually read the whole article, looking for the details about a player losing his steak.
That’s 4 minutes I will never ever get back.
With 3 bona fide all stars on Dipo, Wall and Wood, Rockets are blown out by those Cavs and Pistons
Lol
Those teams matchup pretty well with them, even before they made their moves/had their injuries. The way people dismiss teams is really ridiculous
The Rockets are still in a better place right now than the Lakers are. Their 19-game losing streak puts Houston in a good position to get a top-4 pick in the draft and add another quality player to their young roster with all but three guys under 30.
Meanwhile both star players in LA are out indefinitely and the Lakers season is hanging by a thread waiting for either of them to return soon.
How much you pay for those glasses with red rocket covering the lenses? They are perfect for wearing while taking a long walk by a high cliff. Rockets STINK, the word is out star players don’t respect the ownership there. They are tanking while paying multiple players over 15 mill a year. In danger of falling out of top 5 and losing their first round pick. Oh and how is that big signing of Christian Wood panning out for ya’ll. I remember you were high and mighty about it while other fools talking crap about Weaver for sign and trading him. Now Weaver has a potential ALL STAR and better/more flexible defender in Grant. Plus a Rock solid center that he may be able to flip and get a first rounder for in Plumlee. Oh and the Rockets are worse than Detroit a team that has a 96% different roster than last year and are giving 3 rookies significant minutes. The Pistons beat the breaks off the Rockets last night on their home floor!!Take the shades off bro.
WallyWood wears glasses with dog boners on the lenses? Must be hard to see out of
WallyWood doesn’t speak for all Rockets fans. That comment by them is insane. But Wood has been hurt. I think we are more than happy about acquiring him. You don’t have to dismiss a good player just to try and justify the moves your team made. Both can be good for each team. Relax.
yawn, clown comment bro
So the formula is 3 guys under 30 …… OK
Yeah Laker nation is losing it. I heard they are all jumping on the Rocket bandwagon ……..
Oh Oh Oh oh but they can’t find the Bandwagon
Dude change your medication now …..
Rockets will break worst losing record NBA (26)
Lakers will pickup Whiteside and go back to Finals.
It’s one thing being a troll. There’s even a try at outrages nonsense. But then there is ineptitude, lying, disfunction, and unintelligence. “A Buster” get help bro
Hahahaha
I thought the same thing, Red Rocket, you’re killing me Small’s!
BO, next time capitalize HARD. LMAO!
The only thing more stupid than thinking you’re going to get the Wolves pick or Wiseman for Oladipo, is thinking the Rockets are in a better place than the Lakers.
I can’t tell if WallyWood is a 15 year old stan, or Tilman Fertitta himself.
The talent evaluators in Houston must really suck. As WallyWood always says, Wiseman sucks. His not worth anything. But, the Rockets are willing to give up Oladipo for him. They have really gone downhill since Harden left.
Hard to believe that a Wiseman for Oladipo conversation can or could even happen. Not realistic. Houston will end up having to take whatever they can get or just finish out the season with Oladipo and let his contract just expire and receive nothing.
Expiring contract Oladipo is worth about a 2nd rounder and someone like Brad Wanamaker to replace the minutes for the rest of the season. Rockets are lunatics for asking for a truly elite package back. Wiseman and/or the pick get a far better player than Oladipo for sure. Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball for Wiseman and Wiggins gets done.
Or GSW could fire Kerr and keep everyone and just get a coach who actually coaches and doesn’t just stand there all game and who knows how to develop talent and doesn’t say infuriating comments like “I need 20 games to figure it out” and “we arent chasing wins this year”. Kerr is such a boomer who refuses to change, its sitting right out there in front of us: GSW will beat anyone in a PNR but Kerr says “that’s not a long term winning move” uhh youre coaching a game RIGHT NOW.
I hate Kerr so much this season, he’s been nothing but infuriating and has cost the team at least 10 wins this year due to his terrible rotations and refusal to call time outs in the last minute when Wiggins gets tied up like 5 feet away from him.
Those comments actually show the opposite of what you think. Building good habits is more important than 1 random game…I have zero understanding of your issue with Kerr, which seems to get more hostile every day.
Warriors start winning he will change again. Not even worth it bro. Warriors will be back. Just not this year.
@formerlys
100% with you man
Marty, would you prefer mark Jackson be coach again? Cuz there were no championships before Kerr came along
Kerr makes this team exponentially better and more likely to be a perennial contender, and real fans appreciate that
@ABStract
I would like Draymond Green to be player coach.
Kerr has not adapted to his new team and still coaches as if his squad is loaded with high IQ players like Iggy and Livingston, but he has extremely low IQ players like Bazemore and Wanamaker. Why doesn’t he have the team a contender right now then? You said he makes them a “perennial contender” which he definitely doesnt, Curry does.
@formerlyz your take is so casual, you clearly are not watching any GSW games this year where Kerr’s infuriating sitting of Curry for the first 5-8 minutes of the 4th quarter is literally losing them games. Last night Wiggins got tied up by defenders with 1:30 left in the 4th, mere feet away from Kerr and no time out was called.
LaVar was right: Kerr just stands there. He’s NOT the coach you think he is. He really did just coast off a roster made up of mostly high IQ players, and now he doesnt have that his refusal to change is showing just how fake good he is as a coach. Wiseman should be used like KD, but Kerr is using him like he’s the same guy as Looney. Dumb. Wiseman is excellent but Kerr is refusing to use him correctly.
But also look at the massive pile of awesome recent players GSW has kicked to the curb because they didn’t fit Kerr’s outdated “system”: Boucher, Nunn, Lamelo, etc etc
Mannion went to Curry after his bad shot in the 4th yesterday, not Kerr, Kerr’s boomer @ss is not clicking with the youngsters, the youngers want Curry and Draymond, not Kerr.
Kerr is ruining Wiseman’s career. All you have to do is PNR him and give him the ball and you score. Kerr refuses to do that. GSW should be top 4 this year but isnt – strictly because of Kerr’s moronic rotations and giving Brad Wanamaker an absurd amount of minutes that he spends turning the ball over and coughing up the lead.
Watch the games before talking to me, you casuals are so clueless but you love to argue your own stupid ignorance huh?
Marty you need to cut down on the caffeine. It’s just a game.
You just called me a casual? Really? Rofl stay mad I guess
The missed timeout recently is a bad look for Kerr. I will agree with that. It was right in front of him and he was obviously in another place mentally, not there coaching the game. That being said, there are other coaches who are worse probably. I can’t decipher how Pierce didn’t run the same stuff Nate Mac is now? Mac was his assistant, aren’t they a Team working constantly getting better together? Now Trae Young’s scoring is down, assists are up, defense is improved, and Atlanta is winning? Why didn’t Pierce try this before getting fired? Lots of politics/drama/indecision behind the scenes is my hunch.
Wow, time flies and the world flip-flops. A short time ago the Rockets were a solid team with the largest fan base on the planet (including China). And now? The Streak and an absolute zero in the Far East and much of the US. I live in China and virtually no one is going to follow a team through thick/thin.
So, the Chinese aren’t impressed with Rockets’ young roster? They should take a second look. If only because a lot of them look like they may be playing in China pretty soon.
Thunder 114 — Rockets 112 ….. 20 in a row.
Someone here needs to apologize. Sometimes it’s just better to stay silent. Than berate another team.
Wizards — (15 – 25)
Thunder — (18 – 24)
Suns — (27 – 13)
Nets — (28 – 14)
Rockets >>>>>> (11 – 30)
Most loses in a row NBA is (26) in a single season by
Sixers and Cavs. Sixers lost 28 in a row over 2 seasons. Rockets at (20) as of today.
Rockets would be wise to pickup young high picks. Other teams are ready to move on from. Like Payton, Nttilikina, Knox, Langford, Bagley, Culver, Powell, Gordon, Bamba and others. Porter looks like he could work out. They could find two more.
