A Tuesday report stated that the Pacers are listening to inquiries on Malcolm Brogdon, and Chris Mannix of SI.com wrote today that the Hawks have had discussions about the guard. However, Brogdon won’t be dealt this week, two sources tell J. Michael of The Indianapolis Star (subscription required). Still, Indiana is worth keeping an eye on, as the club has underperformed to some extent this season.
Multiples sources tell Michael that Pacers coach Nate Bjorkgren, who has strong relationships with Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis, can be “too much of a micro-manager,” while another source suggested that’s to be expected for a first-year head coach who is still learning the ropes.
There’s no indication that Bjorkgren’s job is in any jeopardy, but the coaching staff may receive an offseason shake-up, Michael reports. In the meantime, it’s unclear if the Pacers will make any deadline moves — their plan as of a few weeks ago was to stand pat and wait for Caris LeVert to round into form and T.J. Warren to get healthy, says Michael.
Here are a few more trade rumors from around the NBA:
- Addressing a question about Lonzo Ball in his latest mailbag, K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago says he’s heard the Pelicans are seeking at least a first-round pick in any deal involving the fourth-year point guard.
- John Hollinger of The Athletic identifies Kenrich Williams as a player to watch at the trade deadline, noting that the Thunder forward is on a team-friendly contract and has had a breakout season. Williams, whom we highlighted in our Trade Candidate series last week, would likely command at least a second-round pick, says Hollinger.
- The Kings are still considered likely to trade Nemanja Bjelica, but the timing of that deal is “trending toward deadline day,” a league source told Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee.
First year Bjorken micro-managing too much? Thats a nice way of saying annoying the you know what out of everyone but Brogdon and Sabonis. Or that he is just a rude, disrespectful guy. You never succeed in roles of leadership by micro-managing. (Maybe 5 year olds finger-painting)
Of all the guys mentioned as Hawks targets, Brogdon makes the most sense.
How do the Hawks get Indy a PG in return? Throwing Reddish in is probably a given, and the Aaron Holiday 1st round pick rumor is hilariously out of the question. Indy is probably cooking all sorts of things up. Firing the coach, trading Brogdon, Turner, maybe even Warren if they don’t have to pay to do it.
If Indy is dead set on getting a pg in return, it obviously won’t work. Now if they’ll take Reddish, and some other pieces, maybe Okongwu or this years first, or both? I really don’t know what the Pacers want and what Malcoms value is.
Yeah, what Indy does with Turner, Brogdan and Atlanta does with Collins, Bogdanovich, and maybe others, will make or break these guys getting together. I like Reddish in Indiana where he’ll play more especially if Brogdan is being moved and Indy is making serious roster changes. Lavert is good enough to replace Brogdan, and go looking for a team running point guard. Nunn, or Graham would be good in Indy with Sabonis, Warren, Lavert.
Indy is reported to be comfortable with LeVert playing PG…
It seems that Pelicans want a good young player and a lottery pick (or 2 Firsts) for Lonzo
That is too much for Clippers 4-team deal
I can see Ball staying put for now. He seems to know where he wants to play next. If you are not that team there is no sense in even trying. S&T is always still available on draft day and after
I would offer Maxey (Scott to make salary work) and the 21 first…perhaps add in a 2nd or 2 but that’s about as high as I would go. Anymore and and I am content with what we have.
As I’ve said previously, would have preferred Kenrich Williams to Ariza…he could help a bunch of teams at the 4/3 spots
Why would the Thunder trade him tho? He’s not making a lot and he’s got two more years left.
Ya they probably shouldnt unless they get decent value, but they do also have multiple guys they could use at those spots, and they got him for nothing, so getting an asset or 2 out of him makes sense for them. I feel like they’re going to make at least 1 trade in the offseason with their massive collection of assets. Never hurts to have more in the bank
Only 3 big names to be traded?
Gordon
Lauri
Oladipo
Kings received a lot of cheap offers
Kings aren’t getting 1st round picks and franchise altering players for anyone not named D’aron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Harrison Barnes. Hield is not coveted, and Holmes is a free agent that teams will wait on. Doubt the Kings can get much over a 1st and equal-ish value player back for Barnes. I heard Kings were asking for a lot more.
Powell & Siakam with 2 picks for Brogdan & Sabonis.
That’s like a lateral move at best…
Well hate on then…
