7:08pm: James has issued a tweet about the injury, vowing to return as soon as he can. “Nothing angers and saddens me more than not being available to and for my teammates! I’m hurt inside and out right now,” he wrote. “The road back from recovery begins now. Back soon like I never left.”
6:29pm: James’ injury is a high ankle sprain, tweets Shams Charania of The Athletic. He will be out indefinitely, Wojnarowski adds (via Twitter). The Lakers have confirmed the injury, according to Mark Medina of USA Today (Twitter link).
The severity of the sprain will determine how much time James will miss, notes Bill Oram of The Athletic (Twitter link). He could return within about two weeks if it’s a Grade 1 sprain, but a Grade 3 sprain could keep him out for six weeks, which is near the beginning of the playoffs.
5:38pm: X-rays were negative for Lakers star LeBron James, who left today’s game after hurting his right ankle, tweets ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The team is still awaiting MRI results to determine the extent of the injury, Woj adds.
James was pulled from the game in the second quarter after a collision with the Hawks’ Solomon Hill and limped to the sidelines, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN (Twitter link). He re-laced his shoes and briefly returned, but had to check out again and threw a chair in frustration as he headed to the locker room (Twitter link).
Some of the Lakers were angry about what happened, claiming that Hill was out of line when he dove onto the floor and through James’ legs on a steal attempt, tweets Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register.
“We don’t feel like it was one of those basketball-type plays,” said Montrezl Harrell. “… He had to go through his leg to get the ball.”
Harrell added that he doesn’t think Hill was trying to hurt James, but said the league should review what happened. Dennis Schröder called it an “unnecessary play,” tweets Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
Hill responded to the criticism on social media, tweeting, “Would never disrespect the game and take a player out purposely… he knows that. that’s all that matters to me. praying for a speedy recovery.”
They also x-rayed his head and found nothing.
Hahahahahaha now this made me laugh
You’re easily amused.
I get the joke but you do know what X-rays do, right?
He had $$$ and you do not!
So? I didn’t need much money to live the life I wanted to live. It’s a shame that some people just can’t understand that money does not equal success.
Or acquire integrity.
Im not really a lebron fan. So if lebron has money, how can anyone say that he’s not happy?!
Success / Happiness is not really measured by having money alone, that’s true! But judging how lebron speaks and carry himself on and off the court, you can tell that he’s really a happy and contented person!
There are a lot of celebrities out there who look happy and content in public. But if you take a peek behind the curtain most of them are usually miserable people who can’t have enough money or fame to fill the hole of wretchedness that absolutely consumes them.
lol As the Kowalski post/quote goes, “so”? Who are you talking about?
People in the public eye have ALWAYS had both a public persona and a private persona. There are countless examples of how public figures had privates demons that the public largely remained unaware of for a long period of time. The public only sees what LeBron (or any other public figure) wants the public to see. Just like reality TV is not actually reality because they only show the edited version of “reality.”
He twisted his ankle. Why would that involve a bone? Of course they found nothing with an x-ray. Doesn’t mean he isn’t out for a few weeks.
Right, it’s not broken but the MRI could reveal structural damage.
Even minor ankle injuries will often cost a player a game or two.
They barely 50% with out AD. Two or Three weeks off could see them slip to 7th. Could end his MVP hopes. Tough break. But at least he can rest up.
If you include the game AD was hurt in they’re below .500 at 7-8 since his injury. If LeBron is out for a while they will definitely slip at least 3-4 spots.
Ad is the only reason lebron wins at his current age. Lebron without ad missed playoffs due to a “groin” injury.
Ad is such a beast 2 way player that he actually covers up how bad lebron is on defense at this stage. Without ad lebron apologists blame gasol and co without looking at the bigger issue.
Dude you are a Laker Troll. You talk shot defending Lakers all thru bubble and season. You talk smack cause they won. Yet you never miss a chance to diss Bron. Whats up with the hypocrisy. And Bron is the one who carried AD last yr. I’m not even a Bron fan. Lol Bron didn’t want to sign your sneaker. Lakers were built by Bron. AD didn’t know what playoffs are till Bron explained it to him. You really should go to MLBboard
Lebron with out ad this season 7-8 full season missed playoffs. Traded whole team for ad = lakers win. It’s called common sense
Lakers were built by Baylor, Wilt, West, Magic, Bryant and Dr. Buss. James is a facsimile of the talent that built the foundation of the Lakers. Julius Randle may have for the Knicks, but even that is a rebuilt foundation. Many Knick greats preceded Randle.
Way to add some class to the thread AL !!
It was sorely in need, some of these takes are just sickening
Life’s too short to behold soo much hate
Nothings woke about not wanting too see ANY player get hurt Tats – These has nothing to do with liberal vs Repubs or wokeness ….its about being a good person or an A-hole. Be Better
Again talking about things you don’t know or care about. He’s been here trolling for Lakers. And against Bron for over a yr now. Hypocrites is something I can’t put up with. Plus he’s gotten personal with me. So again, you missed the mark. I’m not a banger for my team or players. I try to inform or give my opinion. And I don’t forget. You obviously don’t know Tatsumaki.
I was giving you a compliment Al
I’m fully aware of Tats
While I dont agree with every one of your posts, and Im sure vice versa, I found your take very refreshing in this thread and was {trying } to compliment you
Ingram, Lonzo, Hart and Kuzma all got hurt in the 18-19 season. They had a game with Caruso and Andre Ingram playing ffs. LeBron was the lease of their problems that season you troll.
You do realize without Anthony Davis this year, LeBron has been 1 of the best defenders in the league, right? Also before he missed 18 games that year for his first major time off for an injury, they were a top 4 seed in the West. When he came back, they were so far out of the playoffs already, they had no shot…
Also, I’m a fan of Anthony Davis, but he is known for coming out of games for a hangnail or injuries most players would play through. I’ve heard about Rondo and Lebron helping him toughen up a bit to stay in those games b/c you cant be great if you’re always out for little reasons
Listen. I’ve been the first one on this board to call out formerlyz for his shameless Udonis-stanning but he’s 100% right here.
Tastubukkake’s claim that LeBron wins “DERRR bc of AD” is just total nonsense
LeBron is still a top 3 guy in the league. Better than MJ? No. But still — put some respect on his name, troll.
link to youtu.be
It wasn’t bad. And not thru his legs. It was a rough play but he was going for ball. Didn’t look like a twist to me. He could of hurt it, I guess. But all that drama geeeeeeezzzz Bron.
Nice recovery, kudos!
Solomon makes three surges. People who examine the replay in slo-mo looking for blame will probably miss the third surge which does look intended to injure, even if the first two do not.
This what the brutish Hill is good for, besides being decent at 3s… engaging in and winning contact situations. He sure got one this time. It is not his job to be innocent.
Another case of slo-mos hiding truth rather than revealing it. When watching that^ video, repeat the first few moments in real time for the best look. But in the slo-mos that follow, it all blends together as context is lost.
You also see a lot of LJ exhibiting behavior which some don’t like to see. But as someone who is used to rooting for his team, I like when he makes that healing effort on the spot, walks it off deluxe style, and gets back in and hits a 3. Much better than the beached whale response.
And yes medicos, foot/ankle injuries can be “walked off”, but this takes effort.
The way LeBron went down in pain you wondered if he was hurt or just trying to get a foul called. To many times he over dramatize in contact trying to get a foul called. I bet most of you thought nothing of it since he acts like that on almost every call.
High ankle sprain, out indefinitely. No surprise the resident Warrior deranged LeBron hater has nonsense to say. He can’t breathe without you trolling.
Oh please you know he over dramatize contact every game. He wants fouls on any missed shot. What I said is what every NBA fan knows. Are you seriously saying he doesn’t over dramatize contact? He is to good of a player to do that. Now the Dallas star is doing the same thing.
Solomon Hill’s bodyweight fell on his ankle and he is now out for weeks. Only a deranged hater wants to spin that into “look at him doing it for foul calls!”. You’re so hurt over 2016 and it shows. Bron singlehandedly stopped a 4 peat.
AMK no — my friend. If you really think LeBron doesn’t act like he’s injured all game … man idk if you’ve watched a game since 2001… This is what he does
I wish him the best in his recovery tho
He does get fouled a whole lot and gets about half of them called. Don’t make it sound like he’s Harden and his only game is getting free throws.
Wanting foul calls isn’t acting “injured”. Most of the time he is getting found on drives to the net. Yall the type to say Dray didn’t foul him at the game of game 7 lol
Again do you watch games? LeBron at least 1-3 times a game is acting like his fibula just snapped then 30 seconds later dunking on some fool.
I’m not hating on him – he’s the second best player of all time IMO. But he’s always acting like a slap on the wrist snapped an extremity.
LeBron pushes off with his arm all the time and gets the super star calls. So don’t even pretend like LeBron doesn’t get the calls. every team that plays the Lakers knows he is the most protected player on the court.
Haters see what supports their hate. Everybody in the game pushes off some, especially Curry. LJ gets fewer calls than he should but to some of the unsportsmanlike, he is forever the enemy star boo.
B69 I don’t like how he charges refs to complain but there’s no rule that says an injured player has to lay there quietly. Whatever method LJ uses to heal should be considered not put down, given his record. He heals thyself
Yup, its like a tree had landed on your ankle. The timing of lebron’s injury will cause them to lose some games…
to bring up 2016 only proves you are still hurt about losing the other 3.
Guess what Im not a Cavilers fan so why would I care? Lakers fan who roots for the team on the front, not the name on the back. LeBron just happens to be here so I support him.
Your a good guy arc ya know that.
I bet you don’t get told that enough each day but here’s one to start your Sunday off
High ankle sprains can take people put for a long time, although, none of those guys are LeVron James. Just a few years ago, Dion Waiters could tell you how it changed his career, getting injured right around this time. Hope he wont need surgery…
Also, Solomon Hill plays hard. He plays the game the right way. It’s not his fault
Wow really? All the times autocorrect messes up, you’d think it would catch that one…
Iron Man rarely gets hurt. I guess father time is catching up. I don’t expect him to be out too long.
He will be, just like he was last year when father time caught up to him.
The end of the run by the LeBron Lakers looks like it is gonna be ugly. The title run ended with the Anthony Davis injury. If LeBron misses significant time. The playoffs could be in jeopardy. Hold your heads high Laker fans. You got a title with LeBron. You might want to savor these last couple of months as World Champs. It could be awhile before you say that again.
Very Barry
If the Lakers are 100% for the playoffs they still probably have as good of a chance as anyone at winning it all. What’s your point here?
Lakers will not be 100% for the playoffs. Anthony Davis will not be back this year. The LeBron Lakers title run is over with 1. You are still in good shape without the Lakers. Kawhi, Paul George and the Clippers will still have the city of Los Angeles celebrating in the streets. A pair of West Coast guys bringing an NBA title home to the city of Los Angeles.
Um are you a medical doctor Barry? Pretty sure Davis’s injury is still under evaluation. He could easily be back for the playoffs and so could Bron.
And for the record I’m a lifelong Knicks fan. Could care less about the Lakers. Just a fan of accuracy.
A long while. Look how many years they were terrible late in Kobe’s career and missed the playoffs a franchise high 6 years straight (BTW, the Houston Rockets have never missed the playoffs more than 4 years in a row). LeBron finally got his 4th ring but it cost the Lakers $198M.
Clever. Two meaningless true facts leading up to the intended malevolent lie that sounds more plausible surrounded by truth.
Teams have the same salary limits, LJ or not.
@verybarry… In the weak west is impossible for the LAL to miss the playoffs, as simple as, facts H8ER dude!
This will be very impactful blow for the Lakers finish the rest of this season and going in to the playoffs. Now Kyle kuzma should have an increase role with LeBron out. So will Talen Horton tucker who can be valuable score off that bench. Anthony Davis numbers will go up as he have to lead the team by himself until LeBron come back
Davis isn’t coming back for at least two more weeks. Assuming LeBron is out for an extended period of time the Lakers aren’t going to rush AD back.
They should be without either of them for at least the next 8-15 games.
I think TalenHT can be vounted on to shoulder more offense efficiently. Not sure about Caruso but it won’t hurt their development any! Lakers could benefit that way if the stars get back healthy in time. Big ask… They will lose sync.
Extremely cheap for Montrez & Schroder blaming Solomon Hill for Lebron’s injury.
Very cheap.
Still pissed about Rondo palming the ball on Shroeders forehead.
I feel like that has become a thing recently, and it’s really, really dumb
So they guy that injured someone doesn’t deserve blame? He fell on his ankle and now his ankle is sprained. By definition Hill is at fault. Not saying it was on purpose, but you can have an accident and also have someone to blame for it.
Bowser – an accident is an “unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally”. Lacking intent seems hard to blame a guy for it ……..
@bowser ………. Montrez & Schroder basically says that Hill did it on purpose.
Indeed it’s hard to blame someone who didn’t do things with any intent. It was a loose ball situation for chrissakes.
If what you say is true, then Lebron himself should be blamed for his injury ……. he allowed Hill to tap the ball away from him, triggering the loose ball scuffle.
A dear ran into the side of my Truck, state police called it a crash. I fought that label for a year. In the end I was told there are no accidents only crashes. Explain how a dear hitting me is a crash on my part? Or not an accident?
What’s a dear?
Apparently an animal spellcheck is familiar with. That edit screen that pops up doesn’t really interest me much. I guess my wife could run into the side of my truck, could be an improvement! Joking, Love her deerly…
High ankle sprain is serious if the ligaments have a (partial) tear. It takes longer for a soft tissue tear to heal than bone. LBJ’s “road back from recovery” comment is more ominous than the words high ankle sprain. Might indicate he thinks it’s a tear (athletes tend to know these things). Or just that he’s a drama queen. Or both.
Especially when you’ve had certain injuries, you know when its bad
Actually soft tissue tends to heal more quickly than bone but bone tends to heal more *definitively* than soft tissue.
LeBron will be out for a month.
No hes not. He will only miss 2 to 3 games.
Only 2-3 games? That’s some seriously wishful thinking there. He is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain, he’ll be lucky just to be out 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile AD is going to be out at least until Easter, and probably well beyond that if LeBron is out for the next month or so.
Poor Lakers.
If theres a man to do it, its lebron! He’s an alien, pretending to be human… LOL!
Taking HGH helps
Wishful thinking from a Houston homer? Surely you jest…
AD should be in no hurry now, getting off from the injury list.
It will be the PELICANS all over again if he comes back & Lebron’s not there.
Lets see how far LA falls in the standings the next 2-3 weeks…he may need to
phoenix, new orleans, philadelphia, cleveland, orlando, milwaukee, toronto, miami, brooklyn (2 weeks)…
add another week: new york, charlotte, boston, & utah..
winnable games without lebron & ad: cleveland, new york, charlotte.. win-loss rec: 3-10, they’re at 3rd place with 28-14, so they should be at 31-24 in 3 weeks? 5th or 6th spot?
No AD. No LeBron. How many games will the Lakers win the rest of the season?
If they go 8-22 then the team would drop to .500 at 36-36, and that’s not very far fetched, but they might still be a play-in contender along with the Warriors.
Hence why they need a true legit third option. Morris isn’t it, Kuzma comes and goes, THT isn’t even it. Schroder was traded to be that third guy and he too is inconsistent.
James could use a break. His minutes are crazy. He can take it, but it could take its toll in the playoffs. He is carrying the Lakers, but he doesn’t have to every night. He has set it up for others.
The sad part about this injury is if he’s not 100%, and the lakers somehow get to finals, whether they face the nets or sixers… Everyone will use the injury excuse. Oh wait I almost forgot fanboys only mention injuries when the raptors won. They never mentioned it in 2008, or 2010. Got it!
Waahhh waahhhh …. let’s shut the league down for 4 weeks so he can heal.
To the Lakers teammates, was that shove on Embiid a basketball play?
Some strong emotion here. Some people really need to get laid.
Social distancing, man…distancing, I say! Pandemic aside…I am all for it.
little on the nose there…
High ankle sprain grade 1. Is 1-3 wks time. Google it.
That didn’t look serious to me. Plus he came back to play. Not going to pretend I know. But he is a drama King too. I can see him back in 1-2 wks. Lakers should be focused on Whiteside. With him and getting healthy for playoffs is all that matters. Getting a rim protector is big for them. Don’t matter where they are in seeding as long as they are healthy. They will still have a good shot at repeating.
