Veteran power forward Anthony Tolliver will join the Sixers on Wednesday, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer tweets. Tolliver officially signed a 10-day contract on Monday and will provide some frontcourt depth, at least in short run. Philadelphia has home games against two of the league’s top teams this week, the Nets on Wednesday and the Clippers on Friday.
We have more Atlantic Division news:
- The Knicks’ image is improving around the league and that could help them land high-level free agents going forward, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer. The Knicks have become a more attractive destination now due to their improved play this season, as well as the front office additions of former player agent Leon Rose and well-connected William Wesley.
- Khem Birch has fulfilled a childhood dream by signing with the Raptors, Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports writes. Birch grew up in Montreal and was a fan of Canada’s NBA team. “We always supported them just because they’re the home team,” he said. “My dad used to always complain about the team, yell at the TV and stuff. And now I’m on the team, so this is just a surreal moment.” Birch signed with Toronto for the rest of this season after being let go by Orlando and clearing waivers.
- The Knicks faced the Lakers on Monday and Julius Randle admits he always looks forward to playing his former team, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News writes. Head coach Tom Thibodeau feels that the team’s leading scorer is a much different player now than he was in his days in L.A. “Every year he’s gotten better and better. I think he’s learned a lot from each season,” Thibodeau said. “That’s what I like about him and his game.”
If the Knicks’ image has improved, Rose/Wesley/Thibs definitely deserve credit but a big factor, imo, is that Dolan has shut his mouth and seemingly stopped meddling. Whether that will hold up is anyone’s guess, but mine is ‘No’. The ‘Dolan Behaves Like A Fool’ clock is always counting down.
34 pts, 10 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl against Lakers. He was the best player tonight. I guess Julius was looking forward to playing Lakers, for sure. New management and Thibs definitely biggest reasons. I think Randle deserves a lot of the credit. And imo Thibs has helped Randle a lot. He also depends on him too much imo. Wish he would work in Toppin more. This is basically same roster as last yr. So that shows what a Real coach can do. Absolutely agree Dolan staying out of it has also helped. He’s a big meddler especially when things are going bad. I’m 100% behind this rebuild and way they are doing it. Just so thankful it has finally arrived. “Trust in Thibs”
Thibs always seems to wear out his welcome after a while. He’s basically the defensive equivalent of Mike D’Antoni as both coaches always give their starters too many minutes and refuse to rely on their bench players. Look what he did in Chicago and Minnesota, the same will happen with NY.
But Randle is looking really good, he never gets the credit he deserves.
Well not so much this yr. He does go with ones he trusts. Cause he wants to win. He always says, you don’t have to lose and rebuild. He has consistently gone 10 deep with this team. I think he’s changed some. Truth is we need discipline and accountability. He’s the right one for this time. Plus he wants this bad. Grew up In Connecticut a Knicks fan.
You know DAntoni got Knicks back too. Then Dolan stepped in traded for Melo. When he could of kept everyone and signed him as FA. He ruined it for DAntoni and Knicks. So far he’s stayed out of it. Thibs first yr only, though.
They just need to get rid of guys that are made of glass. Mitchell Robinson needs to be dealt in the offseason, add Knox for salary filler.
LOL. Nothing to do with image. They’re playing sound team basketball and overachieving in terms of results. If they continue to build on it, players are going to want to be a part of that. Players are businessmen first, second and third. Joining a hapless 65 loss team under a carnival barker of HC, and a FO of sleazy amateurs, is bad for business.
Knicks defend the paint better than any team I’ve seen all year –
Guards seem to get blown by quite easily but Dennis can do that some nights to anybody….. but they play w cohesion and rotate super well at the back end
Does Taj Gibson ever age? Doesnt seem his game has fell off a bit in 10 yrs ….hustle and muscle to quote the great Walt Frazier…. Enjoyed the Knicks broadcasters as well, especially Frazier……. Knicks look good outside whatever’s growing on Rose’s face these days
Sorry not sure where to post this, Luca is amazing, but that shot is from a game called handball, common in that part of Europe, he is a special player, I am a sixers fan from London, in lockdown in Cambodia, love to all.
