Marvin Bagley III may be on the move after this season, according to James Ham of NBC Sports California (video link). The second overall pick in the 2018 draft is averaging 13.9 PPG and 7.4 RPG but the Kings‘ power forward hasn’t played since mid-March due to a hand injury.
“His name came up at the trade deadline,” Ham said. “It’s very possible he will not be with this team after this summer. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes.”
Bagley is eligible for a rookie scale extension before next season but Ham is skeptical the Kings will pursue a new deal. “I don’t think there’s any way he’s getting his extension,” Ham said.
We have more from the Pacific Division:
- Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox will be sidelined up to two weeks after entering the league’s health and safety protocols. That means Tyrese Haliburton will be in the lineup, going against top perimeter defenders, and Delon Wright will see his minutes expand, Jason Jones of The Athletic tweets.
- The Warriors’ Juan Toscano-Anderson considers himself a “fringe” player until he receives some contractual security, Steve Berman of NBC Sports Bay Area tweets. “Until I sign my name on that dotted line with a guaranteed contract, I’m still going to treat myself as a fringe NBA player,” he said. “My back’s always against the wall.” Toscano-Anderson is on a two-way contract with Golden State.
- Reggie Jackson is enjoying a bounce-back season after re-signing with the Clippers for the veteran’s minimum and he’s having fun again, he told Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times. “Just be ready for anything and be appreciative of what’s going on and really just re-fall in love with the game,” he said. Jackson is averaging 10.5 PPG and 3.2 APG and shooting a career-high 44.1% from deep.
Anderson is more like 7th man for a playoff team
Yea on a fringe playoff team lol
What kind of contractual security is he expecting from the Warriors? They have almost $150M committed to their top 5 players next season. Does he think the team will offer him more than a 1-year deal for the minimum?
This is the grade I give it to Kings GM this season
D
You don’t give up Bogdanovic value for nothing
Bagley value was high last year. You don’t keep Bagley for so long
Bagley trade value will reduce to zero this summer
Bagley is awful, that’s not kings gm fault, not only is he awful but he’s the pick right before Luka, that is the kings gm fault, I just don’t know if the same gm is running the team I would hope whoever picked below par bagley lost their job for picking trubisky ahead of mahomes
Ever heard of Vlade Divac? He’s available for hire as a GM. Brandon Williams, now running a new start-up league, pushed for him to be forced into the starting lineup without proving himself first, b/c he was young.
I’d say Bagley’s value has never been high.
Toscano is so damn good. I’m not sure who he even comps with but he does everything well and brings the best energy possible.
They do need to sign him to a multi year contract. He is the reason the bench has been playing so well lately. His defense is tops and now his offense is starting to come around.
Bagley is flashy on the court but it doesn’t always work out. I think SAC worries that if he moves on, he could come back and haunt them. The talent is there.
What Ham was saying is that Bagley should not return this year. He will be back next year unless traded. If he gets another injury, he will be harder to trade. SAC has to say yes or no to an extension, which turns into a decision now about returning.
Ham did not specify what the trade interest was… which direction. Who was interested in him?
This is a problem with video newsclips as opposed to written posts, which can be adjusted.
If it wasn’t for being drafted 2nd overall Bagley might have to take the minimum this summer.
Ham is the worst. Always guessing and always the last to know.
