Hawks swingman Cam Reddish has recovered from his right Achilles soreness enough to incorporate on-court spot shooting and straight line running this week, per an official team press release.
The Hawks noted in the release that they will reevaluate Reddish’s progress in two weeks. The second-year wing out of Duke has appeared in 26 games for Atlanta this season, averaging 11.2 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 1.3 APG.
There’s more out of the Southeast Division:
- The Wizards will allow 2,100 fans (10% of crowd capacity) back into the Capital One Arena starting on April 21 when they host the Warriors, according to an official team press release. The Wizards will employ COVID-19 precautions as they let fans back onto their home floor for the first time this season, including “health screenings, mobile-only tickets, and seating pods.” There will be seven remaining regular season home games that will allow for fan attendance.
- Magic center Mo Bamba, the No. 6 pick in the 2018 NBA draft, is firmly behind new addition Wendell Carter Jr., the No. 7 pick in the same draft, in Orlando’s rotation. Josh Robbins of The Athletic notes that Bamba’s rookie-scale contract expires after the 2021/22 season, and that for him to stake out a long-term future with the Magic, he will need to significantly improve his fitness.
- As he works his way back from an ankle injury, new Wizards center Daniel Gafford may earn the starting nod for Washington by the end of the year, according to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington. “There are definitely possibilities of [him starting], but right now there are minutes restrictions,” head coach Scott Brooks indicated. Gafford is currently limited to about 16 minutes per night.
Carter Jr’s putting up some impressive #s in ORL so far.
Empty stats? Perhaps but I feel with the play in game fewer teams are mailing in the second half of the season. Could actually end up being a really good pickup for Orlando.
Why isn’t Bamba playing. This is the time to give him mins. Play Carter at the 4. Some if the things Magic do I just don’t get. Play Bamba to get value for him. What’s the point of sitting him now. Season is over. You want a better pick. You want a good look at him. You want to pick up his value. Why did you draft this guy.
You asked why isn’t Bamba playing. My answer is- After trading Vooch, Bamba averaged 19 mins a game for those 9 games before getting injured. I don’t agree with your statement that he is sitting, although I do agree he should be playing more. But according to this article there are issues with his fitness so maybe they don’t trust him physically to play higher minutes.
This is not a recent thing. They have been sitting him since they drafted him. That’s my point. He should’ve been in G-league his first yr. His contract is about to run out. And he still is not playing. Only way you learn and grow. Is by consistent mins and competition. Carter to me is not a true center. He’s a solid big, who I like. Bamba has just been mismanaged. As a Knicks fan, I know what that looks like.
Read the article. There is no reason to doubt the info since even after years, there are few minutes to gauge. Being drafted high is not a gauge… some high picks never turn out. Where does your confidence come from?— nothing IRL.
Playing Bamba when tired will not increase his value. Since there are people who still believe in the 6th pick, the sooner he is traded, the better.
Tired is now a reason not to play. OK
No, tired means committing fouls until getting benched.
Post players should be fed the ball at the start of halves. After a while, due to typical big-man stamina issues, a team just wants to be able to count on him for defense and rebounding.
Centers get abused by guards IMO, who prioritize getting their own s_t down and don’t care about bigs and will not entry-pass with any effort to do it right.
Anyway. Gafford though has always seemed like a keeper to me; but Bulls fans & coaches never seem enthused with him. Like Valentine or nearly any Bull really. But they can’t all be bad.
